    When someone tells their story, what they tell and don’t want to tell is as important and telling on its own. I see that it’s hard for Gary to keep that wall from interview to partner, but best interviewers shine in active listening skills. Let the guest tell their own story without having the need to fill in the “gaps”. You wanted this podcast to be of reference for people to know Valeria’s story 😅

    It’s disappointing to hear Valeria say she doesn’t support free healthcare for everyone not the nice person I thought she was. They talked about gary noticing Valeria was unhappy during lockdown so he got on the phone payed for private plane, shipping company to pick up their vehicles, paid for rental home in Miami this is only something wealthy people can do just privately fly and stay super expensive places move wherever they want Miami and Costa Rica just cause their unhappy when most people are struggling just to afford to take care of their families in & out of lockdown. You would think young Valeria growing up with a single mum working several jobs would appreciate how important free healthcare is for hardworking average people who pay their taxes their whole lives if they or one of their babies needs a life saving operation but can’t afford it and die is devastating. Shows the rich are out of touch with the reality they should put themselves in normal peoples shoes. UK has our NHS it’s not perfect but it’s fantastic and life saving I wouldn’t be here without it as I’m a disabled single mum. The government gets enough in taxes it should offer free healthcare to everyone instead of wasting it in other areas but of course the wealthy don’t support it.

    SO relatable! I wanted to see the whole Valeria story for years now! I'm 34, lived both in USSR and Israel, now immigrated to Spain for the same reasons.. It's incredibly supporting and inspiring to see a thriving woman like Valeria who I can relate to. Both the fact she has a business, and similar upbringing, and the whole vibe! I'm such a raving fan, for years now! And great beginnings for both of you, with this channel, and Valeria's podcast too, - can't wait to see how this grows! Oh, Gary, a separate thanks you to documenting the hardships and being real like that. Also as someone who has lived in Calgary, Canada since I was 12 years old, I completely agree with Valeria about how I feel about living in Canada, or at least in Calgary, similarly to how she felt in Toronto from what she describes. I am grateful for the opportunities and things that Calgary has offered to my family and myself, but in terms of living culture, my husband and I can’t wait to move out of here. It literally feels like we are dying on the inside because all that life feels like here is paying bills and waiting for the weekends. Both him and I being born across the ocean, I, from Kazakhstan and him from Iran, we miss the warmth and richness of culture that we once new, where life was about going on picnics and going to theatres and visiting friends and actually enjoying life instead of enduring daily stuff. It feels like here everyone just wants to sit quietly at home and occasionally when convenient to hang out or go on vacation because they are tired of the isolating routine and work. We’ve become this way too. I feel more antisocial and depressed as a result. I think while compatibility with the personality and needs is one thing, but it is a colder, more isolated and less culturally fulfilling place to live than other geographical locations I’ve been to. You can really feel worn out by it. And I see the same thing happening with our friends and family.

    Hearing you talk about the third lockdown in Canada, as a fellow Canadian who lives just outside of Toronto, brought me to tears. I still don't feel in a place where I am ready to relive or think about it all. I prayed that the doors would open up for us to move outside of this country but they never did and we are still here, making the most of it. I'm sure I would feel renewed somewhere else but I just don't know anything differently right now. I commend your mother for leaving and figuring things out when they didn't seem right, regardless of finances, because I have blamed our complacency on our financial situation.

    “Romanticized idea of free healthcare” to me is: my mum not having to pay the 1500€ meds she used to take every week for her arthritis. The father of a friend of mine not having to pay the 10000€ chemo he’s doing for cancer. Me not having to pay if I have an accident and call an ambulance or to get surgery for my deviated septum. Yes, sure, it’s very romantic to know that all the money we put into taxes are given back to us in free healthcare, free schools, public transportation that is extremely cheap… I think I’ve heard enough, thanks.

It is 500$ on average a month for person! I know it’s difficult to relate with poor or middle class when you are rich, but at least try. Poor people covered with Medicaid, sure. But you have to be REALLY poor to get this insurance. Like making 2000$ a month. What about people who makes 3000$ a month? I think a really undervalued and underestimated quality in a man is a sense of safety. Not just that he’s a safe person but that you are safe from the rest of the world or life with him. So many people equate safe with boring but it’s not to be confused with conservative or cautious this kind of safety is quite different. It’s really a high-value quality that cannot be faked. It seems like Gary has that and that’s what Valeria experienced very early on, maybe for the first time ever. Yours is a beautiful love/ life story. Blessings and happiness to you both ❤

The way you support each other is so sweet. I never saw healthy relationships around me, but you showed me that it is possible. I see a lot of similarities between me and Valeria and make me believe that I can have a great life as well.

    Gary is SO annoying in this episode lol He keeps trying to correct her and her recollections, and making it seem like it’s so important that she grew up poor. A lot of people grow up poor, calm down Gary 😂 Let her talk, and share her story how she wants. NOT how you remember it or how you see it.

    Gary knows Valeria very well, and he knows the time in which she was born and understands what her mother went through! This is the best thing when a son-in-law knows, understands and respects his mother-in-law! I adore Vika, she is very similar to my late (already) mother, even in appearance and she grew up in the same region - Makhachkala, Dagestan, and yes, there were moments of anti-Semetism, especially in the days of my mother’s youth. This is unfortunately a fact!

    I enjoyed the interview until she made her „free healthcare is nonsense“ statement. It really shows her privilege at this point. I am glad I live in a place where people don’t have to start a gofundme to afford the insulin they need to stay alive. Where rich and poor doesn’t make a difference between accessing cancer treatment or not. It sucks that she didn’t make the money she expected being a nutritionist but then I assume the information about the average salary in that field was probably out there. Hearing dumb comments like this from people in their wealth class really puts me off

  • @kristenk708

    @kristenk708

    That was the only thing that surprised and disappointed me in the whole video. Free healthcare is awesome and I am so happy to be living in Europe. It's easy to live anywhere when you are rich, but let's see her living in the US without all the finances and then needing healthcare. And I am saying this as a rich person myself. That was inconsiderate and a weird comment on her part.

    She has a point, when Healthcare is "free" people automatically pop a pill for anything under the sun rather than really making the effort to get to the root cause of their health issues and dealing with the problem which you can do with the right nutrition more often than not. Live in a country with free Healthcare, not the US, and its exploited, people are disgustingly unhealthy, don't care to look after themselves and the poor staff working in it

    I don't like how she is always putting Canada down Her mom sought out Canada partly so her son would not have to go into the military... that alone should make them all grateful that they could live in Canada . I'm sure they benefited from the healthcare system when they moved to Canada. Did Valeria give birth to her children at home or were they born in a Canadian hospital? Very entitled attitude.

  • @CM-bx6bl

    @CM-bx6bl

    Жыл бұрын

    @Mary Hamilton I hear her saying far more complimentary things about Canada than criticism and most people have plenty of negative to speak of of their country or those they have lived in. Doesn't make them ungrateful or entitled. I could write a book about how terrible I think my country is but I also recognize there is worse. Don't think it makes me entitled just a human with a perspective

    Love the podcast idea and to listen more to Valeria story, I have been following long time and I do really admire everything how she does and both of you as a couple. The only thing what I always feel little not honest in all the interviews that you both do is not mentioning having also support from nannies or this moment here when you both touched speech about having a driver and Valeria do admit that it is a “fancy” opportunity to have (my respect went more up with that because it is honest) but Gary puts this down as its nothing. Why? Better to motivate in a way that yes we do have these opportunities of having nannies, driver and other things because it is all about organizing your time effectively, that you do need to work also for having these luxuries to have. That you do not need to burn yourself so much down to be the “super person i can do it all” as an example of when you talked about hiring a videographer- this is the way that sets the correct picture of how things were. I know people do get angry “what if in a single mother with no money and cannot hire help” i understand it is different but doesnt mean that you have to try make them feel better that alright i make my story more relatable aswell. So many influencers already do that which is so disgusting and loses respect. Also the fact where Valeria said that when her mother was in russia and their family were running the “marketplace” is also quite a big thing this is also where did came the business mindset probably for Valeria mother. Just these little details that are important for us as a viewers, just honesty 💕

If you have another guest other than your wife, they will feel offended if you tell their story and not let them enunciate themselves. It's not nice and it's annoying.
