From SKETCH to SCULPT to SOFT RESIN! (FAUXFUBI - DIY SOFUBI at home)
Ойын-сауық
In this video I show one way to make your own DIY SOFUBI style figures at home!
Initially it was only going to be a video about which RESINS to use for rotocasting and HOW TO MAKE PAINT STAY. But it became evident that I should have some kind of end product to show y'all, so I sculpted a Battle Tabby cat in a suit.

Dude. just telling us what paint to use that won't easily rub off with your thumb is Info ive been trying to solve for 15 YEARS. ive literally been trying since before i turned 20! im 41 now!!!
If Crafsman was good at just ONE thing, sculpting, drawing, animation, figure making etc that'd be enough. But the man is FUNNY, makes sweet, thoughtful videos, his music is AMAZING and he's just an all around gem.
You have OFFICALLY Won my Undying Love. you finding paint that is THAT STRONG on Casting Urethane, has made me so happy i could literally cry. for *YEARS AND YEARS* i tried and failed to find a paint that would Stick to my Casts. i mean, we're talking 15 YEARS MY MAN! and you upload a video on it like "Here ya go" i feel like this is just a Dream and im gonna wake up soon and sigh and say "Well, it was fun while it lasted, but i guess back to not knowing how to make THAT work" btw the Pocketnaut got to me a few days ago, thank you for signing the inside of the box, it means a lot to me!

This reply was so encouraging to read! It’s a good feeling when the information and experimentation can benefit someone else. ALSO, I was informed by Smooth-On that their Maker Pro paint may work with Smooth-Cast 45d better (and it’s water-based / low VOC). www.smooth-on.com/products/maker-pro-paint/

Oh WOW! Well there ya go that's even more mind blowing. im for sure going to try each one of these out to see which one is perfect for my ideas, but regardless this sort of information is absolutely beyond Golden. @@TheCrafsMan
i don’t think i’ve ever seen a crafting youtuber provide as much information on the available options for tools/supplies as you have here. i don’t think i’ll ever try this myself, but i adore the dedication and appreciate the knowledge. if i were making anything remotely related, this sort of video would be a godsend!
Glad Kenji made it home safe! Thank you as always for sharing your creativity and knowledge with us
It’s funny when one of the best makers on KZread says “if I can do it, you can do it.” It’s an ernest thing to say but also, I do think I could do it after watching this.
I was already anticipating this video and you can only imagine my delight that there was also a surprise visit from Crafsman's cat!! BEST way to start my day.
Love it when Crafsman goes down the 🐰 🕳️!
Crafsman’s greatest gift is that he makes you believe you can craft too, unleashing the creativity in all who view his wonderful and entertaining videos. ❤
Crafsman, as ever, your ability to combine information and entertainment is SEAMLESS. Love your fauxfubi design, and I’d never heard of rotocasting before this video! Can’t wait to see your sofubi journey continue 🙌
I'm primarily a 3D artist who loves to make odd things, I've been a long time fan of this channel and you sir Mr. CrafsMan are a great inspiration to me, you make wanting to just "create" into something we all should feel more comfortable to explore, so thanks you very much and I can't wait for more!
Happy days really been looking forward to this one. 😁

The crafsman's videos always dropped at the most useful time in my crafing hobby life.

I'm so glad Kenji came home!! Hopefully he's no worse for wear from his adventures.
CrafsMan makes me happy, always. I learn things, and that calm and cool voice you hear while doing it.
I love everything about crafsman's vibe and style. This is some of the best content available on Yt.
Man. Its been a long time since i watched one of your videos, and i had forgotten how much i smile watching them. Your videos a great. I'm not sure what it is but by the end my face hurts from how long i have been smiling. THank you for sharing these creations with us.
I did someFauxfubi experiments myself some time ago. I would sculpt in clay, and then scan and bring it into a 3d program to cut it up and add the locking joints. It was a long way to go for something i could have just sculpted and did entirely in clay i guess. I still think 3d printing the joining parts might save you a bit of work rather than physically sculpt them next time.

Your method is faster in the long run for sure
I never regret clicking off any video I'm watching to see what the crafsman's cookin'!! Even if its been a while I'm instantly sittin here wit a big ol grin n reminded of why I love this man❤.
Whenever i have a bad day i can watch one of your videos and remember the beauty and joy to be found in life ❤️
I'm not tryna be creepy, but I am in LOVE with the Craftsman! I catch myself watching each video with a big ol grin on my face soothed to my soul by that voice. ❤😊
I’m glad your cat friend came back and is indoor only now! I love how simple looking your sculpts are, but in practice they are so well balanced and conceptually sophisticated.
The wait was well worth it. The audio, music, filmography, and actual crafting...👨🍳🤌
Craftsman has a finger on Super Cute 🥰 🐱 The Cute-Eye always gets the grease. 👍
What's cookin' Crafsman? I want to tell you a couple of things. Firstly, your music At 10:09 is now my favorites of all times. It fills me with all sorts of good feelings. After firstly, I have been trying to make my own custom action figure, from my favorite comicbook, for some time, but I keep getting diacouraged and afraid I will mess up the Apoxie clay or the painting, but your videos have helped me be confidant that I can craft something to be proud of. "There ain't nothin' to it, but to just do it" is something you said that helps me push through the bramble-patches in my head to "Keep on Steady Craftin'." Thank you Crafsman
Soft vinyl toys, not needed for survival, but the Earth wouldn't spin the same without them.🌎
The crowd gasp is great.
Love you. Thanks for being one of the best parts of my day. Your videos make me feel a sense of joy that is hard to explain. You’re a true legend.
You and Rob are my fave Craffs folks. Relaxing and informative videos.
2 things you saved me with here.. I actually picked up robert’s rotocaster he gave away (and met him, its like meeting casting god) but genuinely have been too afraid to use it.. So THIS VIDEO is giving me the courage to finally do it.. i got the bungee cords for it but I just.. never got the strength to make the connected 2 part and secure it yet. Even as I picked it up, clearly robert can make these things with his eyes closed but to me the roto is just so sprcial, I dont wanna utterly destroy the mechanism on my first try!!! i have some big boy parts i need to do this week 2nd thing is that that connector design is just so brilliant, thank you for finally “explaining” the classic sofubi “joint cut”!!!! I never understood where you were supposed to be cutting the edge of the lip until now. you might have just saved a master or two that I was struggling with. Plus it wouldnt hurt to just make my 3d print joints consistent like that.. so simple and I love it As per usual, your videos are so well produced and flawless. I seriously went from having nothing to having a fully stocked (hoard) shop and making my own stuff daily... No $ in it right now but I am just SO fufilled doing it. Thank you man. This community is so damn brilliant
Dear Crafsman! I do love you and your work a lot. Small Patreon supporter since quite a time. Thank you for all the effort and passion you put into your work. I highly appreciate everything about CRAFNATION, your approach, experience and wisdom. Keep it up and feel hugged.
You are my favourite sculptor characters. Love your work. Never stop to making your videos. Thanks😊
I'm happy your kitty is ok. He's a cute kitty. I love tan tabbies. They look more like their ancestors. It's always scary when they leave for any extended amount of time. I love kitties.
I cannot say it enough. TheCrafsMan is a goshdarn national treasure. I love watching your videos.
I really appreciate how thoroughly you explain your process in your sculpting videos. I recently began sculpting with green stuff after seeing your video. ❤
This is the first Crafsman video YT has shown me in a year.
This looks like a lot of fun. I love the simple joint on that lil cat
Craftsman, I want you to know that you are the Bob Ross of the Internet age. I love your videos so much. I know that you have struggled with mental health. I want you to know that you are loved. Thank you so much for your awesome vibes.
Sending love, crafsman and crafsfamily!

I could not have started sculpting at a better time. Just found out about Sofubi and was discouraged that it might be impossible to DIY at home. But here comes this revolutionary alternative. Can’t wait to try it!
These videos are always a highlight and this one was especially inspiring. With the sad loss of T-Nu’s channel these episodes have become just that much more meaningful.
gorgeous kitty kat!!!
You manage to fit a lot of handy tips for any modelling and toy making in this video
You are Robert inspire me so much! Amazing to see Robert mentioned here!
Bro I keep coming back to your videos cause I keep falling asleep. That relaxing voice puts me to sleep like a baby. Great content as always bro!
love the robert shoutout, I've learned a lot from his videos and I think people who are into your sculpting and molding could, as well!
Crafsman, its been a rough year and every video of yours inspires me to go forget it and and try some new creative business. Thank you for sharing that energy with all of us.
Every time I watch a video I have to just make something, thanks again!
first. Love you Crafsman!!!
I've been waiting on a video like this from the crafsman for years since i first found out about sofubi! Also fauxfubi is the perfect term, I can't wait to try to make my own. Steady Craftin
You are one heck of an artist, please keep doing what you do. I learn so much from your videos.
The work light coming down to see what you’re doing has me in stitches
A new Crafsman video alright alright alright
Crafsman you make my heart happy, your voice, humor, mannerisms, background music. Fantastic job my friend. Much love my brother.
What in crafnation have we got here??!!! I love it.
Man I'm absolutely loving this series of videos! Sometimes I think you must be a motivational speaker cause I'm always extra motivated after your videos 😄
Wow. I actually learned more about toy making in this video than when I previously worked at a certain big headed vinyl toy company. Very informative and inspirational to my own personal artistic pursuits!
Just made my night to see this posted!
This is a classic craftsman video! We love it!!!
This is incredible! Looks like I don't have to pay thousands of dollars to have someone in japan make sofubi. I will definitely be trying this out down the road, when I have the money and resources to do so.
After a stressful week this was a welcomed surprise! Thank you Crafsman
Haven't even watched this video yet but I'll give it the thumbs up because it's crafsman and thats all the reason I need
Consistently one of the most informative and entertaining channel on the internet.
there is unintentional asmr videos and there is crafsman !
I've waited for a video like this for a long long time!
So interesting! And I'll never, never get tired of the way you present your topic and information.
The amount of useful informations in this video is incredible!
I like that you did not have to do all the tests and could have just made it the easy way but you did so much! My daughter wants a space kitty now haha
I like your experimentation, for someone new to moulding it is a great help in getting right product to work with. No one likes disappointments that cost a fortune when starting up.
I am so grateful for these videos where you test the materials. Thank you!
Crafubi? Lol. Great job, man! I get new ideas every time I see one of your videos. Thanks for sharing your good nature, time and talents with the world.
I'm glad your kenji is home! Thank you, crafsman.
I’ve missed you!! I haven’t been on your channel in a while but I drink out of your coffee mug every morning!!!! ❤
I aint even finished this video and im already hyped for the next. Love the stuff, crafsman
i just wanna say every video you upload bring me so much joy, keep up the steady craftin
Free range Tabby!!! Love it!
I might have a cool idea there with the transparent cast. Pool in and cast a really thin layer of clear resin, and once its set do a 2nd inner cast with colored resin to make a ghost-like space kitty.
This was great! I would love to see some more videos on the other parts of the process you mentioned at the end. Having a start to finish guide for making at home vinyl figures would be amazing. Thank you for your hard work in making these.
Love the videos, and I really love my Pocketnaut! Look forward to new iterations, and new products. I know yall are a small production and it takes a while to come out with new stuff, but that is just part of the charm of the CrafsFamily! Keep it up y’all
Love this. I used to work with injection moulding machines and they always fascinated me.
So grateful for this stuff you create. It really inspires me on my toymaking journey.
in love with the doodles you did before you started ❤❤ such an amazing concept
Love the shoutout for Robert Tolone!
I love these videos, thanks for the Sunday evening entertainment CrafsMan!!!
I appreciate all the work you put into your vidos. I can't express how useful all your information and tutorials are. Thank you ❤
It made my day to see you had posted a video today!
Your videos have such a lovely energy and your experiments are so fun! Can't wait for more ❤
Had to pause the video and comment: Please tell Kenji I love him and give him scritches for me 😻 I've wondered about him since seeing a cat way back in one of your early videos. Happy to hear he gets to be safe inside these days
Such a great resource video! Thank you! Getting strong "How it's Made" vibes!
I really enjoyed this episode! Lovely sculpt and wonderful music. Your videos are always so inspiring to me.
I'm so pleased you made this, I can finally try sofubi without paying a high amount and ordering lots from China
Your work light appreciates your detail as much as we do!
Crafsman this was so thorough! I loved the resin and paint breakdowns
The Craftsman strikes again, with another superb video.
