From Sanford and Son to Today: A Candid Conversation with Demond Wilson

When Sanford and Son aired in 1972 it brought millions together as they watched antics and schemes of Fred Sanford and his son Lamont. Heralded as a forerunner for African American sitcoms, Sanford and Son, decades later, continues to enthrall audiences with its slap-knee humor and wit.
Go behind the scenes with me as I chat with actor and author, Demond Wilson, known for playing the long-suffering, patient, and loving son Lamont.
Join me for this special edition of Write Stuff as I chat with Demond Wilson on Thursday, August 24th.

This was a very enjoyable interview. The hostess is very good at her task of interviewing and then Listening. So much appreciation for her demure and professional approach. I will have to look deeper into to this channel. As a 60 something, I literally grew up watching the new weekly episodes of Sanford and Son. It was THE funniest show on television for more than a minute. Listening to Mr. Wilson speak here was quite interesting. I don’t want to say too much. I just really enjoyed the entire 59 minutes immensely. ❤

OMG!!! I was able to meet Demond Wilson at my church in the early 90’s in Massillon Ohio. He preached that morning, and was awesome! He spoke under a prophetic anointing!!! He knew my pastor, Bernard Lawson, from being in the entertainment field. I almost got to cut his hair when he asked if anyone in service could cut hair. But I was too afraid to say anything because I was only in the cosmetology field for a little over a year and didn’t want to be known as the girl who jacked up Demond Wilson’s hair! 😂 I would love to see him again and pick his brain since I’m a playwright now. Great interview! And MAN! I wish young men and women would hear this and follow his advice concerning relationships.❤

GREAT interview. Demond is one solid brother. Forget that, he’s one solid MAN. Talk about wisdom. WOW. Loved what he said about the “African American” thing. We are ALL AMERICANS. I hate the separation of races that existed in the past and is STILL taught, proliferated, and EXPLOITED by the leaders of today. We are all Americans. And just cause you’re “skin folk” don’t mean you’re kinfolk. Sanford and Son like Demond said was real. Especially the relationship of an elderly rambunctious widowed father and his conscientious son. I lived it years later with my own father and his irreverent behavior. Great interview.

Fantastic! This puts me in a good mood. What a legend. Such strong connections to the theater, he most have known other greats like Vinnette Carroll, Ossie Davis, etc. I remember, of course, pre Sanford, the All in the Family episode he did with Cleavon Little. Great content!
