when I stayed in Finland, I loved the heated floors and the beautiful rag rugs covering them in the home of my host family. Thanks for sharing your rug making!

Beautiful work by you and your daughter! And I'm glad you included the mistakes as well. A lot of craft videos show people zipping through projects without any mishaps, which leaves the beginners without any guidance on how to recover from errors. It's also reassuring that someone who is so good at crafting also makes mistakes. 🙂

Thanks! Most of the things that I make on this channel, I make for the first time. This was my first ever rag rug. I have seen people making these, but never tried myself. I have noticed that when I make a mistake, usually it helps to stop and think. The solution I end up using after some thought usually works. If not, more thinking is needed and if I’m completely stuck, I find some experts on Facebook!

The rug is beautiful. It's nice that your daughter was willing to help you with the weaving.

I enjoyed watching your clip especially the last section which shows some of your mishaps. It made me laugh as I am sure that a version of each of these happens to all weavers. Blessings from South Australia ;-)

Thank you! It was fun to weave with S. Weaving seems to be a craft the she really enjoys. She gets easily bored or frustrated with sewing but can weave for hours. And I honestly can’t tell which parts of the rug were woven my be and which were her work.

@@withmyhandsdream I'd suggest let her go with what she enjoys, it's good to see she is interested. Weaving is something I've never had the opportunity to try...have watched other people at craft shows etc but never had enough space for a loom.

Tämä matto on niin kaunis! It was wonderful to see how you work together with your daughter to create something nice for your household to use every day. Some child labor in the weaving industry? :D (Sorry, bad joke. )

Such a fairytale picture of weaving you tell. 1.25 (sped-up) minutes of the prep and dressing of the loom and 18 minutes of throwing the shuttle. What a skewed vision of the process of weaving you paint! The ratio of time for prep and dressing vs creating the interlacement is misleading by insinuation and omission. You are misrepresenting and disrespecting the art of weaving.

Ha! This really did take no time to set up with two warp yarns per centimeter and everything! Most of weavers in Finland don’t even do that as they go to weaving centers where everything is set up. I’m actually weird for setting short warps for just one project. None of my videos really show how much time it takes to do any craft project of mine. Many of them take weeks or even months to complete. It’s to show the process and the steps for someone who is never seen the craft. Although, if there is a demand for videos for me sloooowly weaving, comment below!
