From Palestine to the World: Angela Davis & Dr. Gabor Maté on the global struggle for liberation

You can watch all our videos at scienceandnonduality.com
This conversation is part of the release of the new documentary film "Where Olive Trees Weep" whereolivetreesweep.com/. The full version of the conversation will be released as part of the film premiere and the 21-day program on a donation basis.
You can register for the film premiere and the 21-day program on a donation basis.
June 6-27, 2024. The film will be accompanied by 21 days of conversations on Palestine including panels, music, poetry and more. We hope that this documentary will shed light on the realities of life under occupation and inspire meaningful conversations about the urgent need for justice and peace.
In this conversation, legendary activist and scholar Angela Davis and Dr. Gabor Maté, physician and author, explore the intersections between the Palestinian struggle for freedom and broader global movements for justice, equity, and human liberation.
Drawing parallels between the oppression faced by Palestinians and the systemic injustice confronting marginalized communities around the world, Angela and Gabor will shed light on the common roots of violence, occupation, and dehumanization. They will examine how trauma, both individual and collective, perpetuates cycles of conflict and how healing these wounds is integral to achieving genuine liberation.
Science and Nonduality (SAND) contemplates and reveres the beauty, complexity, pain, and great mystery that weave the infinite cycles of existence. We explore beyond ultimate truths, binary thinking, and individual awakening while acknowledging humanity as a mere part of the intricate web of life.

I can’t believe that you’ve lost 50,000 followers for being opposed to oppression and cruelty, and I’ve been shocked at the attacks I’ve witnessed on Dr. Mate. People in the spiritual healing community need to wake up…at some point, the spiritual does become political. There is no bypass for seeking justice in this world and taking a stand for what we know is right for all living beings. Thank you for all that you do.

@@seanomaille8157 Yeah, this is why I have a bit of a problem with all of this...there are groups ALL OVER the world, oppressed, tortured on and on...why is it that this particular conflict is getting so much attention and outrage? Certainly, I understand part of that reason is that it is being broadcast on people's smart phone but there is also something unbalanced about it all, and makes you wonder about the root of the agitation at least in part. If you are aware of other narratives, this is an intentional strategy by Hamas, to incur a lot of civilian casualties in order to gain international sympathy...as well, the aid then funnels into the pockets of the terrorists as opposed to helping Palestinians...this has been going on for quite sometime, which is how they have built these elaborate underground tunnels. Part of the point being...there is much to understand about all the multifarious, nefarious activity that goes on surrounding this situation....there is more to it that the conlonizer/oppressor narrative.

Find myself with tears flowing. As a child of the 60s, Palestine's subjugation is a reminder of the struggle for women's rights and racial injustice. The genocide taking place in Palestine has not only mobilized the global community to their support, but has spotlighted the complete lack of a healthy moral compass that the majority of our countries' leadership have!! This is an even more pervasive disease than we have realized!!🇨🇦

We can agree that all walks of life should have basic human/(and animals) rights...but, identifying the cause(s) of the problem(s) is not as straight forward...there is also a strategy at play that wants the energy of the bleeding hearts to use for its dark ends.

He has a mobile App called "Waking Up", which is an app for spiritual seekers for lack of better word. Imo, he is excellent at discrimination and articulation. I have been very tearful for a very long time, since my lover who met Angela Davis but has rejected me without hearing and my love continues. I walked with pro Palestine supporters in London yesterday 18 May 2024. I'm a San Franciscan also from the 60s as one who began the brief "hippy" movement but didn't take part in the "Free Speech" movement. My 2 callings in life are creative artist and serious high art classical musician. My ideas preceeded Edward Said and Daniel Baremboim in their failed West Eastern Divan orchestra which is forbidden to perform in the Israel occupied area of Palestine. Thank you for your words and actions for liberté égalité fraternité (as Benjamin Franklin's slogan was given to and taken up by France). No peace without justice. Israel is lost, finished, done and toast forevermore.

Yet, if our own lives can matter at all, we cannot be callous bystanders to such unspeakable disregard for the sanctity of EVERY person's life. THANK❤ YOU, dear Angela and Gabor, for the courage, strength and wisdom of your moral compass, and for shedding the Light of compassion so brightly that the blind may come to see the horrors they're perpetrating - not only on our precious Palestinian people - but directly, unwittingly and ever so sadly upon themselves.

I think Gabor hits the nail on the head when speaking of those who are united in grief - his beautiful empathic heart like so many of us desires no more horrific pain for anyone. But it is the breaking open of our human hearts by witnessing and feeling this tragic traumatising horror unfolding before our eyes - this is what will heal humanity. To me this is the true noble meaning of martyrdom - the beautiful Palestinian people have sacrificed so much to open and break our hearts and bring us back to unity. Not to excuse any of the horrific, brutal, heartless violence wrought on them by those who no longer feel their hearts - both in those who perpetrate the acts and those who turn a blind eye. There is an unconsciousness in so many people that will not be healed in this lifetime - and which we must not allow to stop our own continued shared grief with the beautiful souls of Palestine and all over the world who have borne the brunt of vicious unconscious disconnectedness. Thank you for this precious discussion...may we continue to open and break for humanity

Thank you, Angela Davis, for talking about those who came before. We boomers are so exhausted from the blame and hate focused on us. We did lay a foundation.

Don't focus on the 'boomer' tag, its just a label the establishment came up with because we are AWARE, AWAKE, HAVE CRITICAL THINKING and KNOW OUR OWN POWER. In other words, we are a threat to them, but A HOPE FOR HUMANITY. We are all still here, we never went anywhere and we raised conscious kids and grandchildren. Its just taking a little longer than we thought it would 😂 Stay strong! Together we'll get there.

@@revpadma I focus on what affects me, thank you. Apparently you didn't understand what I said. It's not the "establishment". It's the younger generation who finds it necessary to hate older people.

Unhealthy societies are what happens, over time, when political sociopaths are afforded adult authority in a society. A political sociopath is someone who is willing to do harm to another for the sake of opportunity, social capital, hierarchy, profit and/or pleasure. Political sociopathy is a class of behavioral choices, not a diagnosis. People with a diagnosis needs treatment, which may mean some degree of sequestration from mainstream society is required. Yet, once it is determined that there are no physiological impairments to empathy generation other than choice, the responsibility is theirs within that circumstance, and that choice belongs to that individual.

We need a science of "Public Health" and political sociopathy. Beyond political theory, we need a clinical practice.

How do you measure oppression? Suffering isn’t a pissing contest ; all of this planet is groaning under the yoke of the patriarchy intersecting with capitalism….. competition profit at all cost …. Animals and plants are seen as disposable and dispensable…. We are all focused on our insignificant individual lives fearing death and lacking meaning … time to awaken the heart and heal from pachamamas trauma
