From Lawbreaker to Lawmaker: The Power of Second Chances

How did Jermaine go from selling drugs to becoming mayor of Leavenworth? Find out the incredible difference a second chance can make in a person’s life. Prison Fellowship celebrates Second Chance s to raise awareness of the countless barriers facing men and women with a criminal record that make it difficult to succeed outside of prison.
Jermaine faced many of these barriers himself. After being incarcerated on and off throughout his youth and early adulthood, he was ready for a change. He met the Lord while in prison and discovered a new way of living. Yet like many others in his position, he struggled to find adequate work and housing after his release. He needed a second chance.
Jermaine found work, but when he was unable to find transportation to his job, he was fired. That’s when his church stepped in. His pastor hired him as a janitor. He then started his own lawn care business, serving many of his fellow congregation members. When Jermaine’s pastor found out that he was struggling to find a place to live, he rented him a home owned by the church.
Eventually, Jermaine’s record was expunged, which opened the door to an opportunity for him to run for office. He was elected mayor of Leavenworth and served with tenacity. Now he serves at Prison Fellowship, helping others find a second chance in Christ, and a second chance after release.
Jermaine’s church gave him a second chance, and your church can do the same for men and women in your community.
Thank you for fighting for second chances!

This is so encouraging to hear. I work in a men's maximum security prison and I see the struggle, especially for those upon release . . . I pray. So many return to prison life. I pray . . . I wish I knew more details of your journey to and with Christ . . .

@kathyfox8527 I pray that God blesses you to use you as a vessel for those that are there for just a vacation. I say vacation because some may not be there forever. My son is one oneself of those and pray over him and let him know that his vacation will soon be over. Have a mindset of temporary and not permanent. Be blessed
