Well mostly the quality of dubs Sentai Works puts out probably doesn't help that trope, even if they can do good dubs like Parasyte the Maxim. Bang Zoom Not being what it was probably doesn't help either.

Thank you for all your hard work. Fruits Basket was one of my first animes and yes, I watched it in dub. I can't imagine watching it in sub, so it means everything to me for your simuldub. It's really nice seeing the slight changes that have been made to better align with the manga. Akitos voice, Tohru referring to Yuki as Sohma, etc.

I absolutely love the 2019 fruit baskets it's absolutely amazing show💜💜💜💜💜👍👌 keep up the amazing work Funimation. I'm absolutely glad that they got the old cast back too.

I knew it would be challenging to do the weekly dub but wow, I didnt realize how much work there actually is behind the scenes for the voice actors. Cant thank you guys enough for doing this. Telling this beautiful story and keeping all the voice actors. You're all giving this show the justice it deserves. Thank you Funimation and thank you to the voice actors for coming back (especially the voice of toru). Videos like this, seeing real people work hard on something, makes paying for funimation totally worth it. Thank you for bringing dubbed anime to us

The author hated the first anime adaptation

I remember being OBSESSED with Fruits Basket when I was in middle school. Now I can relive this obsession 💜 I remember watching the original show and thinking to myself this can't be all of it. I read all 23 volumes of the manga and was surprised they left SO MUCH out. Now we can finally get the anime adaptation we deserve for such a great manga.

I love seeing these behind the scenes clips! It's so cool to see the work that goes into the shows, and Fruits Basket in particular is a special case because of how near and dear it is to everyone's hearts. We're very lucky to have such a passionate crew behind it!

Really enjoying all the behind the scenes videos FUNi has been posting as of late. I'm especially impressed that the translators read the manga ahead of time.

I really want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the effort you put into this production. When I first heard about this reboot and how it was going to cover to whole story, I couldn’t take it all in, I don’t think I can even express the things I felt in words. But aside from the sensation I also slightly panicked because I couldn’t imagine these characters sounding like anything other than they did, and I also couldn’t bear the thought of waiting for the whole thing to come out for the dub, if there was even a chance that it would be my dub. With the sim-dub you’ve truly given me all I could wish for and looking at these, seeing just how much genuine care and love you put into all of it makes my heart burst. Thanks for making this the whole fruits basket experience in every way possible.

The Flaming Freezer why are you so toxic that you have to go to every comment telling them how much you hate dubbing. People can enjoy shoes however they want to. I prefer watching shows in their original Japanese voice acting but I acknowledge many others prefer watching these shows in this form.

YESSS! Finally, a new “Behind The Scenes” video for Fruits Basket (2019) uploaded by Funimation. I love these kinds of videos! o(〃’▽’〃)o⁾⁾ It’d be even better if we can get like a clip for a behind the scenes recording session of Fruits Basket (2019), kinda like how they do for MIX: Meisei Story. That’d be nice to see. First of all, I’d extremely much like to thank Funimation for even dubbing the anime in the first place! YOU ROCK for that! Cause I love love LOOOOVE the English dub of Fruits Basket (2019) sooo much! (๑˃́ꇴ˂̀๑) The many VA’s who reprised their roles like Laura Bailey, Jerry Jewell, Eric Vale and a bunch of others are freakin’ awesome too! I’m so so so happy so glad they decided to come back to voice them because it definitely wouldn’t have been the same without them. There’s absolutely no one who can top Jerry Jewell as Kyo, he’s perfect to voice him *:ﾟ*｡⋆ฺ(♡ヮ♡) And I can’t possibly imagine any other VA to voice sweet adorable Tohru other than ₍ᐢ ›̥̥̥ ༝ ‹̥̥̥ ᐢ₎ Laura Bailey. These voice actors definitely improved compared to back then, there’s so much more effort and emotion put into their performances - I’m completely amazed as I watch every new episode. I’m truly AMAZED that I could burst into tears of joy ｡ﾟ(T ᵕ T)ﾟ｡ I personally don’t like the subbed version, I have so many problems with it ( ˃̶⺫˂̶｡) like the voices either seem “Over the Top”, or it doesn’t fit the character, or some characters sound alike ...just major major thumbs down for me. Plus I’d much prefer to watch anime in a language I fully understand, for me it’s way way way more enjoyable that way. I only resort to watching the Japanese sub of an anime if 1) I really wanna watch it and 2) if there’s absolutely no English dub available (⇀‸↼‶)

ginger psycho I believe Ritsu is going to voiced by Elizabeth Maxwell (i.e. Albedo from Overlord) this time around. She’s incredibly talented and very charming. Probably my favorite English voice actress aside of Jamie Marchi. Give her a chance, she will most likely surprise you. For reals, she’s great!!!

Thank you, Funimation for the english dub. I like Yuki's character a kind, fragile and smart one that kind of person is not easily to open up their flaws or anything about them because other people think them as a perfect or looking up for them highly but when they do it was really the most wonderful moment for everyone you can feel the genuine inside them a really one in a million person that can't be found easily. Can't wait for Yuki's growth :)

Just want to say, I am so proud of how far dubbing has come from the last 20-30 years. I am impressed that companies such as funimation are taking into consideration the importance of proper translation and nuances from the original source material. I am just immensely proud of you all, being that I have grown up listening to a lot of these voice actors from the earlyish days of dubbing.

I’m so happy Fruits Basket got a simuldub. It’s the show that introduced me to Laura Bailey and like. I’ve been a huge fan for so long and her being able to just be her again, it’s kinda like coming home. ...also because I watch Critical Role so like her characters there are so different from Tohru it’s funny. And I mean she’s also hilarious as a whole like. She’s so freakin rad.

Fruits Basket always had the best English Dub imo. I love every Voice and Acting for each Character and I would never ever watch it in any other language again. I am so glad they kept the old Actors from the 2001 Version.

I'm enthralled by Mikaela Krantz's hand gestures.

Justin Cook is one of my favorite VA's at Funimation and isn't in enough stuff. His performance in Yu Yu Hakusho and Beck especially stand out to me. One role that I don't blame him for but I wish they went in a different direction is Kirishima from My Hero, way too much of a surfer dude twang to it. Regardless, I love his work, even his short stint in Hinamatsuri was amazing.

@Funanimation pls tell me the episode number where dub cast was shown and they got a bit emotional , I clearly don't remember was it a special or a part of the series.

I wonder if OHSHC will get remade. God I hope so(nothing wrong with the original I just really want to see an upgraded version) The Fruits Basket remake is so beautiful 💕💕💕

Enadyn _ It seems you're not already aware, so I'll tell you: I care nothing for originality itself. I oppose not just anime dubs, but all non-Japanese voice acting, period. I want Japan to be the only country in the world to practice voice acting at all, and for all animated media worldwide to only be in Japanese, regardless of where each comes from.

Dub's fazem um anime ser lendário

I love funimation and love the dub so far but my BIGGEST complaint is them using “chan”. lt’s the dub there really isn’t a need to include Japanese suffix, it’s really cringy and awkward for English speakers to include that in the dub

This is by far my biggest nitpick as well. I didn't think it would be an issue considering usually they aren't used anymore (thankfully), and I don't normally hear them in more recent scripts from these ADR writers. I also just don't understand the point? They're just being used as nicknames (Shi-chan, Hana-chan, etc...) there's no really plot-related reason to include them, like for example: Momiji's German accent. I love the dub still, its just an unfortunate choice that feels very circa mid-2000s.

I don't really like that they do that either. I mean I guess it makes it a bit more authentic, though it really doesn't add much or anything at all. It's not like people say things like that in English. The Persona games do that too, so I've always wondered if people like it when the honorifics are added.

How close is it to the original series? And will it go on for longer 'cause the original didn't show the entire story that's in the manga. Edit: also are they the original voice actors?! Just watched a clip and yuki and kyo sound similar to the original but momiji and tohru dont x

Michelle Duriez Tohru is still the same voice actress! Momiji isn’t :( And no problem!! I feel you!! Because I own the original on DVD and literally dread watching the last episode cuz that’s the end for that series ;-;

Michelle Duriez they're pretty much all the same voice actors. Some just sound different because it's been 15 years, and people's voices do change. The one that plays Momiji is definitely new. I guess it's due with that character's cultural background. Since he's half Japanese half German. Not sure about Akito's voice actor is sub but they obviously changed it in dub. (SPOILERS) Those that read the manga understand why

Michelle Duriez I do wish people would stop saying that originality itself is important. When it comes to voice acting, Japan is just better, regardless of originality.
