Man I've been to the favelas in Brazil and for anyone to come out of that in one piece and be as successful as some of these Brazilian footballers is truly inspirational. The ones that grew up here saying they came from rough neighbourhoods have no idea

What I want to know is the details. Nice to know the story of where they came from, but apart from blindly accepting natural talent: What did he love practicing by himself and during games as a kid; did he play with older kids and adults regularly; what are his most notable attributes as a player? It's like we are meant to infer all these things and simply accept, look he's just better than everybody else. It's a luck and timing thing, not just performance and numbers!

I love when these videos of my fellow countrymen pop up, because these stories pretty much consist of 90% of Brasilian players. Well, probably 90% of Latino players came from similar if not same path; there are few exceptions.

Don't want to give the story away but check it out if you don't know already because he is so unassuming that the juxtaposition would make for a good documentary.

If this isn't all the evidence the USA needs that you have to make soccer: affordable (so that we get a wider net of our country's athletes from all demographics and socioeconomic backgrounds, and so it becomes less and less of an elitist sport; in terms of expense and perception), accessible ( futsal courts, not just fields, in the hoods/barrios/ trailer parks, as well as/not only in proximity to affluent neighborhoods, of major and minor cities alike; ex. ATL and Raleigh, NC or LA and Bremerton, WA), and quality training available (continuing to developed and expand Academy Systems, putting qualified coaches to work and training up those who have high aspirations, with a common NATIONAL goal in mind, in all organizations - not just club/select/travel organizations), I don't know what is. I have more detailed thoughts, but nobody likes reading novels in the comments section.

@@mattmoore804 I respectfully disagree. Firmino and Coutinho were like brothers at Liverpool that bond may have carried over and made a significant difference. And as a false nine, Firmino is versatile enough to make adjustments. Be that as it may, I feel like many commenters must have watched a different world cup than me. Neymar's narcissism and refusal to let go of the ball threw everyone else's game off. Every time he got the ball he was trying to recreate THE Maradonna goal, which makes it hard to actually evaluate players like Jesus, who rely on pure team play. Plus, Neymar's lack of dignity and respect for the game was clear to see. "Referee, VAR!" I love Brazil but I didn't want them to win like that. Hopefully he grows up soon, for the good of his club, country and legacy. ✌
