From Darkness To Light: Petzl Headtorch REVIEW | Climbing Daily Ep.1755

Спорт

As the nights grow longer we review the Petzl Iko Core and Swift RL to light up a bouldering session. Petzl have always been at the forefront of innovating headtorches, and today we have two to try out. The Petzl Swift RL and Iko Core are two very different head torches...but both have a huge amount of POWER.

It’s horrible because you can’t see footholds properly, no matter how good your lights are. You also need really good lights to see the bolts and top of a 35m route.

I love how when mat talks about the max power he thinks it’s 2 hours to thirty where as it’s only 2:00 - 2:30 hours of time

I have the swift for a couple months now and i have to add to matt: If you switch from reactiv lightning to "normal" lightning, the beam also narrows down (good for fast activities like downhill biking/ skiing). The reactiv is fast enough for running, so you don't have to switch there. Also it stays pretty much in it's position even while running. (only downside in my opinion is that it's missing a red light; so for camping etc. i do have the petzl e+Lite as an emergency/camping light)

The missing red light is really annoying. This is clearly a mountain headlamp. And red light is not only useful at camp site but also to read a map without burning our retina.. I was going to buy that lamp but I'll try to find another model :/

What was the size of the helmet? I tried it with Meteor 3 and Scirocco both size L and the Iko doesn't fit.

I really need one that has a red light setting. When camping, that red light at night makes a huge difference when trying to see something quickly at the campsite. Then it doesn't destroy your vision when you turn it off. Just an opinion. Great review!

Definitely agree !!! I just got a energizer headlamp with red , green and blue setting the green is my go to setting when hiking it lights up just enough without blinding other hikers

I'd be really surprised if these two head torches didn't have a red light function. I've got the Petzl Actik which is a lot cheaper than these and it has a red light function

@@lyntonwp I just looked at petzls website, and the IKO Core, the one she had, only has white and runs for $89.95. Matt's, the Petzl Swift RL is $119.95 and also only has white lights. I don't know about you all, but having the red is super important to me, and this seems like a waste for only white lighting. I am sure the R&D that went into this has a large targeted market though.
