The Warriors are likely the NBA's next dynasty, but I many don't realize how this has been years in the making, and how much luck it took for them to get where they are today.

Today I'm discussing the incredible luck it took for the Warriors to get the roster they have today, starting around 2007. Sometimes everything goes your way, and that definitely happened for Golden state. Steve Kerr played under Phil Jackson and Popovich, and was the GM for the Suns during the D'Antoni Suns era so he knows a lot about how to run successful teams. The warriors are kinda a mix of the best parts of the Jordan bulls, the Spurs, and the Nash-era Suns

My friends kept laughing at me everytime i played 2k against them using the warriors.

Really steve Kerr watched the nba from 2004-2007 as a broadcaster...became the suns gm in 2008-2010 ...got to the conference finals in 2010 after rebuilding a team that had shaq into a good 3 point shooting team and then losing to la in 6. And then became a broadcaster again for 4 years and then became their coach after watching film and being around the best coaches especially miami and San Antonio and he changed the warriors culture...lets.not forget he played for Phil and popovich and learned from them ...kerr is also 8-0 vs popovich in 2 different playoff series since 2010...he swept him twice...something the suns couldn't do in the Nash era aka beat spurs 4 times in 7 steve kerr did with dragic in 4...

I am a laker fan but I love seeing how well the warriors are doing. They built a team exactly how it needs to be. Through the draft, signing key vets and forming a culture with no egos. Those who hate the warriors dominance are very hypocritical because I highly doubt they were complaining when the Lakers, Celtics, bulls and spurs were dominating during their time. If the Lakers don't win it all, which is definitely unlikely, I want golden state to keep shoving it to the haters and the hypocrites.

They constantly contradict themselves, believe that jus because you can shoot a three you're an amazing player and constantly make excuses when they lose or when one of their players get embarrassed. Its so fuckin annoying. Most of them were jus calling Durant a choker now they say he's the greatest player of all time...

To be honest, everybody remembered the warriors in 2016 as the team who blew a 3-1 lead in the finals against the Cavs and was the biggest disappointment in NBA history. But nobody remembered that Steph had an ankle injury, Draymond got suspended and Bogut was sent off due to an injury. Why is it when The Warriors won against the Cavs in the 2015 Finals, everybody was complaining about Love's and Irving's injury and how that affected the Finals and all that bullshit while completely ignoring the fact that there were also factors affecting Warriors blowing a 3-1 lead. After that 3-1 lead, it felt very horrible to be a big Warriors fan and getting reminded for the 3-1 lead. All of this is coming from a Warriors fan, a true fan and not a bandwagon. Yeah! That's right, stop calling us bandwagons. How did I even get through complaining with just swearing a bit😂😂😂

Its a big difference between losing your 2nd and 3rd best player the entire series and losing you 3rd best player for 1 game and you 5th or 6th best player. And Irving was played injured aswell. If your team played without draymond and klay against a healthy cavs it would be a massacre

Paulo Resende not a big difference when Draymond was their best player that series. They lost their only true rim protector too in Bogut. Kyrie I'll give you, but he ain't better than a healthy Curry. 2017 proved that. Love is a literal nonfactor. No explanation needed. Gets bullied by Draymond and Cavs fans petitioned to have him benched. He's been better this year tho. He'll be a factor in the 2018 Finals definitely.

I agree with everything you said except them being lucky. Yes they definitely had some great luck but it was their front office that carefully picked the players and worried more about a system rather than getting the flashy players. Just look at teams like Cleveland and Orlando who chose the superstar players and just ended up trading them or them being a bust.

Officially my favorite video from you. The perfect story by the perfect KZreadr. Especially loved the 2016 part of the video. People hate this team so much tgey refuse to acknowledge that the Dubs definitely would've closed out Cleveland as they were just the better team when both squads were healthy. They really are the luckiest sons of bitches in the world and that's no knock to them 😂

As a U of A fan, where Kerr played college ball, I will definitely admit he had a truly horrific experience happen to him when his father ( a diplomat) was killed in a terrorist attack overseas. But besides that point in his life, his professional career as a player and coach has always been somewhat lucky. He played with Michael Jordan's Bulls, and received probably the most wide open looks that a player could get. Then he played with the dominant Spurs, and kind of the same deal. Then as a rookie coach he walked into a group of guys that Mark Jackson laid the foundations for. Then after their first championship season, he missed the first 43 games and they went 39-4 without him. Then this year he missed time during the playoffs and they swept their way thru. I'm not saying he doesn't put forward the effort or commitment, but I have to admit this guy finds himself in pretty lucky situations. I mean in all honesty I'm sure almost every coach in the league would look like they were excelling if they coached Golden State. At least that's what it looked like for Gentry and Walton. But that ms just my two cents.

Mark Jackson was a dick to the players from what I heard. He'd play mind games with them and set them against each other to try to motivate them with negativity. Check out the story about him bullying Festus Ezeli. I don't think that kind of stuff works and they probably got him out just in time. Their ball movement and movement of players without the ball also improved dramatically once Kerr took over.

Some things just have to bounce your way, but the Warriors took advantage and made the moves necessary for them to get here today. I always knew Steph was special since college and WHOLEHEARTEDLY believed that Monte Ellis was holding him back. And as soon as they got rid of him, he began showcasing how special he could be in the NBA, but he had to overcome the ankle issues. In the mean time the Warriors made some excellent draft selections. And that’s what hurts some of these teams we see today. When they’re put in the position to evaluate talent, they suck at it. The Warriors just selected the right group of guys like in the old days.

I don't think they were lucky in anything! Curry, Klay and Draymond are all players who werent superstars when they were drafted, noe thought as going to be as great of the players they were. Coach Mark Jackson helped develop Klay into the great 2 way player he is. Draymond always had the leadership and attitude, just needed the opportunity. Curry looked like his career was gonna be over before he even started, but he kept working and strengthening hia body to be the caliber of player he is now.

Great video. A lot of people complain about the Warriors superteam phenomenon but if they actually knew about basketball history they would know that such teams have been constructed many times before. The difference is, they just didn’t work. The warriors landed the same initial set up as the nets superteam, the two lakers superteams (most notably 2004 which nobody can argue was “fair” regardless of how old they were) and others But unlike those others the W’s clicked. Ironically, the haters that complain about the Ws are the same people who will turn around and tell you they’re not really that good and that blah blah blah team from the 80s would dominate them- contradicting their own point of course.

and theyre doing that on purpose haha. The Warriors weren't bad on purpose. They were just bad. The 76ers literally tanked for 3 years straight to get these picks. And now finally (barring another injury), it might be time to see all the talent theyve put together. Even as a Warriors fan, Im excited to see Embiid, Fultz and Simmons all play together. It might take awhile to gel, but they could be awesome. The way Simmons plays really shows flashes of Magic.

Dumb luck... thats an odd phrase. I think what happened in part was they were allowed to do exactly what they wanted. Which usually doesn't happen. Other teams are usually able to disrupt a long term strategy. But So much of this was strategy. They just never got derailed ... and of course a bit of circumstance the took advantage of. But luck is a lofty claim

Yall can keep saying cavs should of won with kyrie and love healthy but what happened when both teams were healthy? Yup warriors were up 3-1.. only after dray got suspended and our only rim protector got injured and also iguadala was having back problems, AND curry was banged up all playoffs did the cavs dominate. So you tell me what you think but obviously the warriors would of won 3 in a row.

The Warriors are the luckiest team. They are lucky that curry injuries didn't keep happening and that he got better. They are lucky klay got this good. THE are lucky draymond green became a all star player after being drafted in the second round. And they are lucky that KD is a snake 🐍

zero Dynasty what kind of dynasty did Lebron have for 7 years besides the 4 years he had in Miami ? His early years with Cleveland was wasted carrying that franchise they did nothing right if he was smart he should've stayed in Miami at least pat would've build a better longer lasting roster around him to compete for years instead of a 2-3 year window to only compete

He was never trash. He was just injured a lot. He was an amazing shooter and dominated in Davidson. And when he came into the league, he still was a great shooter, but wasnt fully grown and never was healthy.

Bogut was coming off the bench sometimes. Draymond green is debatable because he drops like 10 a game or maybe even less but what you don't realize is just how well LeBron and kyrie played. But for game 6 and 7 the outcome wouldn't change tbh.

  • @TheCharlesJackson

Bogut was starting that entire series and had the paint on lockdown together with Green. You're thinking of the 2015 Finals. LeBron and Kyrie were powerless before the suspension and injuries to the Dubs best defenders. The Warriors easily would've closed out Cleveland with their full healthy team. Green in that series was playing the best ball we've seen him from him. Definitely FMVP too. And he certainly wasn't averaging 10 points. Closer or above 20 rather with his usual stats as well.

But the warriors still had a chance to win the 2016 finals in game 7 considering it came down to the wire. Plus, they should've won if a.) if curry would've gave the ball to draymond more often considering he scored over 20 points in the 1st half and he had the hot hand, and b.) if curry didn't turn the ball over during crunch time. The warriors style of play is fun to watch but when multiple players go cold with their shooting and one is on fire, and he's the reason the game is close, you gotta feed the hot hand. That responsibility falls on Curry because he's the point guard and part of it is finding shots for your teammates and knowing the in-game situation.

Chris Sabian those are actually from great points. Draymond shouldve had the ball in Game 7 down the stretch. Definitely.
