Builds should require an architect! A good one. Fabulous wallpaper, lighting, furnishings, finishes. What's the appraised value of it now?

Great family home, main colours work well. Then the Essex theme comes through, great fun that can be changed easily later when taste change. I think they will be very happy living there, the kids will love the garden in the summer. Thanks for letting me join you journey, well done. I have built my own house in Vietnam and even though I worked in construction most of my life. Boy was it a headache, not only thinking of ideas but changing Vietnamese ideas and methods of build. I have been asked to oversee house build of friends but will only take on foundation works. So at least there is a sound foundation. Have also advised on plans and friends can see where we have deviated from the original developers drawings, to make a better home. I just wish this program had been around when I was building, so many great and simple ideas.

It's used in England but not much in the US. (I also, some years ago, had to ask what it meant, and I am UK and US!)

I love the story and the journey in building this amazing house! 😍 Inspiring.

One of the best results yet. I especially love the ceiling light strips. The couple listened to advise & yet made it uniquely theirs.

I loved this series. Please could you continue with more!?

I think It was better to use the separate livingroom as a dinning room with no wall.

I see a lot of wallpapers in the UK that ... how do I say this politely? ... that just are not good. Their living room, with the pink light in that recessed wall/alcove area, and all the bits of coloured light elsewhere ... made the house look like a cross between a shop and a disco. The pretend fireplace is awful... a LOT of what they did was good but they simply haven't a clue about decorating; it looks 'bought,' inexperienced ... I suppose they will figure it out with time (or not). The main thing is that THEY ARE HAPPY... AND, It's a GREAT house with a stellar view!!

People in the UK have a much greater affinity for modern, minimal design with saturated splashes of color -- those who have architect-designed spaces, anyway. They're quite good at it.

Very nice and well done. I would have wanted more color, even if subdued, in the bright white entryway so it doesn’t look like primer paint. It’s funny when designers say it will make a space look bigger even though it’s the same size lol.

That was not my style of interiors at all, but wow! They did an absolutely stunning job! And kudos to Colin for the installation of those lights - he did that excellently. Well done to this couple. I wish them very many happy years in their home.

I can totally relate to this. I demoed my house last July and into September. Left a bedroom and a bath. I’m still ‘camping’, outdoor kitchen, you can get away with it in Florida. It’s a slow process!

I’ve noticed 2 extra doors off of the main hall. Why not use wider openings with no doors? Here in the US we don’t use doors to close off common living spaces.

Likely a powder room and front hall closet. Don't need a door to go pee? Hiding mess of costs, boots, shoes, skateboards, scooters etc is also amazing for a family of 4. I'd rather have doors

I noticed that in Europe many of these homes are made out of block, in the USA everything is made out of plywood and siding. Maybe that’s why their homes are built to last.

I also notice that one. I've watched a lot of house constructions from USA and they usually use wood frames and wood sidings for the exterior walls even for a one-storey house. Meanwhile most of the house construction in Europe that I've seen integrates the half concrete and wood construction. Maybe it has something to do with the weather since they had extreme ones out there.

@@momsterous I'm in the USA, and have friends in Europe. One couple are fixing up an owned flat, I learned how they manage masonry walls. Hanging things isn't a problem, you drill a hole and use an anchor. To move outlets or change wiring, you need to jackhammer a narrow channel in the wall to run conduit, then plaster over it. It is a big job. On the other hand, the buildings are wind and fire proof, and will last for hundreds of years. My very well built house is 122 years old and I just had to replace a lot of rotten wood trim. In much of Europe, there was little timber suitable for building. In the USA, we had miles and miles of timber quality forest. Here, wood was much cheaper than masonry.

US does balloon-frame (light wood assembly quick) because we have trees. UK lost all their forests during the war(s) with Spain (to build ships)

I am really glad for them and of course it’s all a matter of personal pace but to me the whole design is very disjointed it doesn’t feel warm or inviting and They really went to town with all those disco lights

Although it may seem colorless to you it probably meets their needs and preferences.

They didn’t have to go with such bright colors either. There are a million shades of every color, which would have been even more unique. So glad they went with copper! Way more sophisticated. Also, would love to see this show share how much they could sell it for with how much they spent. They could always mortgage it for more than they paid to pay off debts and invest in the rest.

Yeah Piers blew it. Never taught them about colors in proportion, while scaring them with the three colors.

I miss the turquoise & orange accents. Perhaps that will come.

Nice but needs more color and plants and art - waaaay too much white and gray. Needs a warm couch or carpet. Very well laid out.

When a client is this design-averse, you have to be clever when you pull them along. And stop when they clearly stiffen up. Piers should know that.

concern for the family with chemical sprays out the back door- it will drift into the home and sicken the people- yikes!

It looks great but what would the real costs have been if they didn't have family/friends helping? It would have cost more to have the sliding glass installed for sure. Plus the cost of the lot... and with free architectural help... It's in no way a $100,000 house.

An architect who doesn't know what basic colours are... It's a bit sad, but a very common mistake. Love the series regardless ;)

+AMAZING IT'S A NEW HOUSE? why's there a crack in the plaster on the ceiling above the handrail of the stairs and a 3 foot long bump in the ceiling plaster on the ceiling plaster above the first stair? who built and plaster? those 2 things are structurally scarey!

I don't get why they kept that useless garage, it's not like you park a car in it. 🤦🏽‍♂️ Apart from that, this couple was open-minded and customized the suggestions to their liking.

Those LED lights can change color very easily. What's sci fi disco one night can be warm and cozy yellows the next. Or you can blast pure white light if necessary. If you're tech savvy you can even set up programs to change the color on a schedule. I have my bedroom LEDs set to imitate a sunrise, even though for 4 months of the year I have to wake up well before sunrise.

This is what I do not like, is having to make changes and them costume big time . I love everything of the house designs but they need to make these decisions with you all before the builders come in and put The two by fours in

Oooh, they're reluctant to depart from unremarkable homes they've seen all over the UK. They made a developer home, thinking it's a finished home. There are better exercises you can do with a client than these; that relax them and slowly pull them forward. You can see they weren't on board with the color and they didn't do it. Every time there's a pause I cringe, knowing Piers has no finesse and he'll remind clients their decisions suck..
