From Atheist to Christian- My Testimony

Thank you for watching! Click here • Video to watch Part 2 of my testimony.
_____________
A “Christian” is not a person who has said a prayer or walked down an aisle or been raised in a Christian family. While each of these things can be a part of the Christian experience, they are not what makes a Christian. A Christian is a person who has fully trusted in Jesus Christ as the only Savior and therefore possesses the Holy Spirit (John 3:16; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8-9).

    I was also an atheist for the longest time I grew up in a Christian home but didn't believe. One day, I met a Christian friend on campus, and he invited me to BCM. I went out of respect for him. I ended up actually liking it. He then, invited me to his Pentecostal Church, and I spoke in tongues for the first time in my life. God also healed me from my brain tumor and heart murmur. Till this day, I see God's hand on the sick and the poor. Welcome to the Kingdom sister!🙏❤️

    I'm glad you are a Christian, but you can't speak in tongues. That was only reserved for the apostles back then to get the Word across and out to the nations.

    jlotiffh But wait, I speak in tongues too. In fact daily when in prayer to Jesus. Where does it say in the Bible tongues was only for the first century apostles? In fact, the Bible specifically mentions the gifts of speaking in tongues AND the interpretation of tongues in Paul's first letter to the Corinthian church if I'm not mistaken (1 Corinthians 12:31). In any case there are many times when the Holy Spirit moves me to start praying in tongues especially when I think I've finished praying: "The Spirit maketh intercession for us for we know not what to pray for when we pray" (Romans 8:26). Now of course if do not believe in the Holy Spirit, Who has been present since before the beginning of the Earth (Genesis 1:2), Who was in Joseph (Genesis 41:38), in Joshua (Numbers 27:18), in Daniel (Daniel 4:8, 5:11-14, 6:3), filled Beasley (Exodus 31:3, 35:31) and was present when Jesus Christ was baptised (Matthew 3:16) then all of this will be foolishness to But think about this: if God does not change and is the same from everlasting to everlasting, (Malachi 3:6) why would the Holy Spirit imbue his children with certain gifts and power and cease to do so with us in the 21st century? I thought I'd just say this before I go brush my teeth. Have a good morning from me in England and may the Spirit guide you into all truth (John 16:13).

    jeezleweez F Actually, there's new research in speaking in tongues. The Bible also let's us know it is evidence of a mighty God. The first occurrence of speaking in tongues occurred on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:1-4. The apostles went out and shared the gospel with the crowds, speaking to them in their own languages: “We hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” (Acts 2:11). The Greek word translated tongues literally means “languages.” Therefore, the gift of tongues is speaking in a language a person does not know in order to minister to someone who does speak that language. In 1 Corinthians chapters 12-14, Paul discusses miraculous gifts, saying, “Now, brothers, if I come to you and speak in tongues, what good will I be to you, unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or word of instruction?” (1 Corinthians 14:6). According to the apostle Paul, and in agreement with the tongues described in Acts, speaking in tongues is valuable to the one hearing God’s message in his or her own language, but it is useless to everyone else unless it is interpreted/translated. A person with the gift of interpreting tongues (1 Corinthians 12:30) could understand what a tongues-speaker was saying even though he did not know the language that was being spoken. The tongues interpreter would then communicate the message of the tongues speaker to everyone else, so all could understand. “For this reason anyone who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret what he says” (1 Corinthians 14:13). Paul’s conclusion regarding tongues that were not interpreted is powerful: “But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue” (1 Corinthians 14:19). Is the gift of tongues for today? First Corinthians 13:8 mentions the gift of tongues ceasing, although it connects the ceasing with the arrival of the “perfect” in 1 Corinthians 13:10. Some point to a difference in the tense of the Greek verbs referring to prophecy and knowledge “ceasing” and that of tongues “being ceased” as evidence for tongues ceasing before the arrival of the “perfect.” While possible, this is not explicitly clear from the text. Some also point to passages such as Isaiah 28:11 and Joel 2:28-29 as evidence that speaking in tongues was a sign of God's oncoming judgment. First Corinthians 14:22 describes tongues as a “sign to unbelievers.” According to this argument, the gift of tongues was a warning to the Jews that God was going to judge Israel for rejecting Jesus Christ as Messiah. Therefore, when God did in fact judge Israel (with the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in A.D. 70), the gift of tongues would no longer serve its intended purpose. While this view is possible, the primary purpose of tongues being fulfilled does not necessarily demand its cessation. Scripture does not conclusively assert that the gift of speaking in tongues has ceased. At the same time, if the gift of speaking in tongues were active in the church today, it would be performed in agreement with Scripture. It would be a real and intelligible language (1 Corinthians 14:10). It would be for the purpose of communicating God's Word with a person of another language (Acts 2:6-12). It would be in agreement with the command God gave through the apostle Paul, “If anyone speaks in a tongue, two-or at the most three-should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and God” (1 Corinthians 14:27-28). It would also be in accordance with 1 Corinthians 14:33, “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” God most definitely can give a person the gift of speaking in tongues to enable him or her to communicate with a person who speaks another language. The Holy Spirit is sovereign in the dispersion of the spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:11). Just imagine how much more productive missionaries could be if they did not have to go to language school, and were instantly able to speak to people in their own language. However, God does not seem to be doing this. Tongues does not seem to occur today in the manner it did in the New Testament, despite the fact that it would be immensely useful. The vast majority of believers who claim to practice the gift of speaking in tongues do not do so in agreement with the Scriptures mentioned above. These facts lead to the conclusion that the gift of tongues has ceased or is at least a rarity in God's plan for the church today.

    I was an atheist for quite some time. Nothing good was going on in life, pain, hurt, sadness, feeling empty, almost life with no purpose. Then one day I watched a video on Jesus, and I got a feeling of joy. After that I started reading more and watching more videos on Jesus, and the feeling of purpose and love grew stronger. Now I am a full Christian and truly accept and love God and Jesus. The power is real, and so is he. God bless you all!!

    Don't believe Once Saved Always Saved. Faith without Works is DEAD. Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? GOD FORBID

  • @ZeroFloat.

    @ZeroFloat.

    7 жыл бұрын

    Works without faith are dead also! If you don't have works, then the answer is not to produce fruits in order to receive faith but getting saved which automatically produces fruits. James 2 is not talking about the issue between individual's heart and God attitude towards it. It speaks works between men! James 2:14 .... a man *say* he hath faith... James 2:16 ...And one of you *say* unto them... James 2:18 ....Yea, a man *may say,* .... Yes a man may say all sorts of things to another man but another man does not see in the individuals heart but only the fruits. You don't need to *SAY* to God anything because men see the fruits of men but God sees in the heart. Abraham got saved 25 years earlier before performing the fruits, yet God declared him to be righteous without works. So the conclusion is in order to get saved there must be two elements- you must believe and stop relying on your fruits. Works and grace are mutually exclusive each other. Jesus doesn't share His grace with your works. If you are trusting 99% of Jesus and 1% your works then you are under the law and obligated to keep the whole law and grace of God is worthless to you. Rom 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. Rom 4:4-5 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Rom 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

    Jessica, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful testimony! Our God is awesome :) I grew up in a Christian home but totally rebelled and went my own way for many years. If anyone had asked me what my "religion" was during that time, I would have said without hesitation: "Oh, I'm a Christian." After all, I was raised a Christian and even though I was living in sin and like you said, didn't think a thing of it, I still viewed myself as a Christian. CRAZY!! Anyway, I married in 1998 and in 2000, I had an experience with Jesus and re-dedicated my life to Him. My husband and I were baptized together that year. In 2005 my husband left me for someone else. To say that I was in shock would have been putting it mildly. I loved him very much and had no clue that he wasn't happy in our marriage anymore. How that's even possible, I don't know, but it's the truth. Anyway, for ten days after hearing the news from him (that he was leaving me), I couldn't sleep or eat. I was miserable, scared, humiliated, etc. On New Year's Eve of 2005, which was 10 days later, I was lying in my bed crying and in such pain that I couldn't stand it. I started praying and told the Lord that my soon-to-be ex-husband didn't love me and that I knew Jesus loved me but He loved everyone so I was nobody special. Jessica, He spoke to my heart so clearly that it was like I heard His voice. He said, "Jane, if you had been the only person who had ever existed, I STILL would have died just for you. That's how much I love you!" I remember lying in that bed in awe and shock and what I had experienced. The next thing I knew, I was waking up to New Year's Day, 2006. I was filled with peace and joy like I had never before experienced. I still thought about my ex-husband but the pain was totally gone. I was so wrapped up in Jesus, that it just didn't hurt anymore. Sorry this was so long but I really felt led to share this. Hope to meet you soon in the air, sister! Our King is coming very soon :) God bless you and your precious family.

    I know right! He created hell, doesn't help the poor, commits mass genocide, infanticide, creates humans, then punishes them for being human and then destroys everything on Earth! What a great guy!

    +dawn khader You have a pretty messed up view of the Bible. Yes, He created hell for the people who reject Him. The fact He gives us a choice is showing He doesn't treat us like robots and that we can have a choice in what we want, free will basically. Doesn't help the poor? Most poor people I have met are some the most humble people you can meet. If people draw closer to God while they are poor over them being rich and far from God, then they are better off being poor. The things of this world will perish and have no value, so if a poor person has Christ then they are more rich than the rich person without Christ. God gives eternal life in paradise to even poor people, so yes, God takes care of His children. Mass genocide/infanticide? Nowhere in the bible does this happen. The bible that displays the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob atleast. God did create humans, but humans disobeyed God even after they were told not to. Man brought sin into the world which then resulted in death. So no, God didn't do anything wrong, He gave mankind choice, and man chose wrong. Punishes us for being human? No, He punished Jesus Christ on the cross in place of all our past, present and future sins. We must now come to God in repentance through Jesus Christ as He is the ultimate sacrifice. Just because we become saved doesn't mean we become perfect, we will still have trials while we draw breath on this fallen earth. Destroys everything on earth? He destroyed the earth and everything in it except noah and his family because thats how evil the earth was. The penalty for sin was death and only noah was found righteous, which then He spared his family. God will not destory the earth again until revelation unfolds, but now people have a chance to choose Him before it happens. God gives the free gift of eternal life in paradise and all we have to do is accept it. Yup, what a pretty awesome God we serve indeed!

    In The Beginning: "He created hell for the people who reject Him." "...we can have a choice in what we want..." "... all we have to do is accept it." - Some choice: Accept me or burn in hell! "if a poor person has Christ then they are more rich than the rich person without Christ." - That's some impressive mental gymnastics. What about the person who is rich and has Christ? Is that better than being poor and having Christ? What you're doing here is explaining away God's lack of concern over poverty. And we're not just talking about being a bit short of money in a Western country, we're talking about abject poverty in countries where there isn't enough food to keep children alive. No genocide/infanticide?: Deuteronomy 2:34; 3:6; 7:2; 7:16; 13:15; 20: 16-17. Joshua 6:21; 10:40. 1 Samuel, 15:2-3. "...humans disobeyed God even after they were told not to." "Man brought sin into the world ..." - Adam and Eve did not know right from wrong until they ate the fruit of the tree, so how could they be guilty of doing "wrong"? They would not know that doing what somebody had told them not to was "wrong". And why did God put that tree there? What compelled him to do so? He was setting a trap for his child-like creations. It was not MAN who brought sin into the world, but God, by putting the tree there in the first place and exposing his beloved creation to risk. Anyway, it was the devil's fault, wasn't it? He beguiled these innocent, naive children. And who created the devil? Punishing us for being human: Jesus was just the last in a line of attempts by God to put right the mistakes he had made. First Adam and Eve, then the whole of humanity bar the drunken Noah and his family, then Jesus. But if, as you and others like you claim, Jesus atoned for our sins, why do we have to go on atoning for those sins? Wasn't Jesus' brief death enough? It sounds to me as if this was yet another failed attempt to put things right. Jesus was also God, no? So God sacrifices himself to himself to make up for the wrong-doings of the creatures he created.How can you swallow this nonsense? Talking of swallowing nonsense: Can you seriously believe that the Noah's flood story is anything but allegory/mythology? There is no evidence of the kind of flood described and there is plenty of evidence to confirm that it is fictional.

    +Nai61a If you would ask questions in sections it would be easier to respond, please keep this in mind for future reference so I can answer the questions. "What about the person who is rich and has Christ?" The same applies, they both have Christ and no more is needed, the riches of the world mean nothing. "What you're doing here is...." Nope, you just missed the point. "Keeping children alive?" This is man's responsibility, not God's. Man decided to have children which lead to them not taking responsibility of said children, why did most men or women abandon their children? Again, man's problem, not God's. "Genocide/infanticide" Deep topic so read here if you are interested. www.gotquestions.org/Canaanites-extermination.html "Adam and eve did not known right from wrong" Yes, they did. They knew eating the forbidden fruit was wrong because God simply told them NOT to eat, thus telling them it was WRONG to do it. Common sense really. "Why did God put tree there?" To give man choice to obey. Would you rather Him make us robots to be perfect and have no free will what so ever? I wouldn't. I'm glad I serve a God who lets me choose and doesn't control my every move. (continued)

They're just made from the damaged, sinful hearts & minds of mankind. Because you see, God isn't a god. He is the true, almighty, all loving God. He's a Father who longs for relationship with each and every one us. He's not a silly, invisible thing that sits in the sky that makes us slaves to him. --Once you have have a relationship with Him, you feel Him in your heart, and there's nothing more real than that. Nothing. It's a connection to the Father that surpasses everything. He is so real, so alive, and SO good!!! :)

How our DNA transcription process could work perfectly? and the process is very complex. It's hard to believe a nature could add some new genetic information and change the genetic code in the evolution theory. We got advanced technology and knowledge on this century, scientist can add any type of chemical and electric pulse in sterilled water container to create new life form but I never heard successful experiment about creating a life form.

    Pellinor religious is for muslims and roman catholics but what people dont get is that real christianity as in a love for Christ and a thirst for his word is different it is in itself real the bible says all you have to do is believe and can i just ask what is the point of debating people who believe that God is the living truth to me it seems like yall are looking for something more as if you are wanting this Jesus thing to be true for salvation in your own life because why cant we just believe and you guys just not why is there contridiction atheists are percieved as people who are full of hate do you know that right so to always try and argue and debate ... answer me why because why do you want to change peoples point of view answer for christians: because we believe its what God called us to do Answer for atheists: pleade fill in the blank space Because i dont know why try especially with the devout christians and not just lukewarm people who btw.... are not to argue with because they dont know squat what exactly are you trying to do what is your point? What are you trying to achieve ...people to 'open their eyes and see your truth' NO because we already have a truth that the son of God is returning and on that day every knee shall bow including yours and every tongue confess Jesus is Lord and they shall rejoice and sing unto the heavens Hallelujah but as for the ones left behind it shall be mayhem amd chaos Why ? Why risk all of that trying to prove people wrong just leave . Dont And dont you dare say christians are trying to prove people wrong we are just proclaiming God's truth not our own and through the process of doing that your counsel falls then so be it it is written and said so anyway

    Humble in High Heels If someone has a hardened heart towards something, then it is very difficult for that person to recognize it as truth, even if it makes the slightest sense. Her husband softened her heart towards christianity, and let her consider the truth concerning her own sins, it's not like he forced her to believe in something. Your current worldview and beliefs were also accepted with an open heart; maybe not by a loving partner that softened your heart, but by other circumstances; else you would have not accepted anything that you believe in now, even if it made the slightest sense. There are atheists that would never have their heart softened towards anything that is related to religion, not even for the nicest partner. But generally, no human does what he finds absolutely foolish, it all comes down to opening oneself up to be able recognize something.

'Heart' in that context, is obviously just a term to describe a certain phenomenon. And you would understand what i was saying, if you weren't so focused on attacking me. Next time you try to rebuke a person with dead logic, telling him he can't be cool when it is 85°F outside, remember to focus on what that person could mean with the terms he uses, then engage in a dialogue.

    Praying? What good does that do? Prayers aren't answered. If any prayer, aka wish, get's answered, it's purely coincidence. How might we prove that God is imaginary? One way would be to find a contradiction between the definition of God and the God we experience in the real world. What would happen if we get down on our knees and pray to God in this way: Dear God, almighty, all-powerful, all-loving creator of the universe, we pray to you to cure every case of cancer on this planet tonight. We pray in faith, knowing you will bless us as you describe in Matthew 7:7, Matthew 17:20, Matthew 21:21, Mark 11:24, John 14:12-14, Matthew 18:19 and James 5:15-16. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen. We pray sincerely, knowing that when God answers this completely heartfelt, unselfish, non-materialistic prayer, it will glorify God and help millions of people in remarkable ways. Will anything happen? No. Of course not. This is very odd. Jesus makes specific promises in the Bible about how prayer is supposed to work. Jesus says in many different places that he and God will answer your prayers. And Christians believe Jesus -- according to this recent article, "54% of American adults believe the Bible is literally true." In some areas of the country the number goes as high as 75%. If the Bible is literally true, then something is seriously amiss. Simply look at the facts. In Matthew 7:7 Jesus says: Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! If "every one who asks receives", then if we ask for cancer to be cured, it should be cured. Right? If "our Father who is in heaven gives good things to those who ask him", then if we ask him to cure cancer, he should cure it. Right? And yet nothing happens. In Matthew 17:20 Jesus says: For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. If "nothing will be impossible to you", then if we ask to cure cancer tonight, cancer should disappear. Right? Yet nothing happens. Note that if we take the Bible less-than-literally here, the statement "nothing will be impossible to you" becomes "lots of things will be impossible to you," and that would mean that Jesus is lying. In Matthew 21:21: I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. If "you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer", then if we ask to cure cancer tonight, cancer should dissappear. Right? Yet nothing happens. Note again that there is not a non-literal way to interpret "you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer", unless you replace "whatever" with "nothing" or "little." The message is reiterated Mark 11:24: Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. If God says, "believe that you have received it, and it will be yours," and if we believe in God and his power, then what should happen if we pray to cure cancer tonight? It should be cured. Either that, or God is lying. In John chapter 14, verses 12 through 14, Jesus tells all of us just how easy prayer can be: "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." [ref] Look at how direct this statement is: "You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." This is the "Son of God" speaking. Have we taken him "too literally?" No. This is a simple, unambiguous statement. Have we taken his statement "out of context?" No - Jesus uses the word anyone. Yet Jesus' statement is obviously false. Because when we ask God to cure cancer tonight, nothing happens. We see the same thing over and over again... In Matthew 18:19 Jesus says: Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them. In James 5:15-16 the Bible says: And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. In Mark 9:23: All things are possible to him who believes. In Luke 1:37: For with God nothing will be impossible. Nothing could be simpler or clearer than Jesus' promises about prayer in the Bible. Yet, when we pray to eliminate cancer, nothing happens. And keep in mind that this is Jesus talking here. These are not the words of human beings. These are not the words of "inspired" human beings. These are supposedly the words of God himself, incarnated in a human body. Jesus is supposed to be a perfect, sinless being. And yet, it is obvious that Jesus is lying. What Jesus says is clearly incorrect. Jesus is supposed to be God. God is supposed to be perfect. When Jesus speaks, he should speak the truth. Yet when we look at what Jesus says about prayer, he is clearly lying. If you would like additional proof, gather a million faithful believers together into a giant prayer circle. Have them all pray together in Jesus' name that God cures every case of cancer on the planet tomorrow. Pray sincerely, knowing that when God answers this completely heartfelt, unselfish, non-materialistic prayer, it will glorify God and help millions of people in remarkable ways. Now, we certainly have two or more people gathered together, and they have asked in Jesus' name, and we have not one but a million faithful believers who, by definition, have faith and believe. We have fulfilled every one of Jesus' requirements. Will Jesus answer the prayer now? Of course not. Your prayer will go unanswered, in direct defiance to Jesus' promises in the Bible. In fact, if you pray for anything that is impossible, your prayer will always go unanswered. If you are an intelligent, rational human being, all of the examples mentioned above show you that the God of the Bible is imaginary. The Bible clearly promises that God answers prayers. Yet when we pray, nothing happens (for a complete discussion proving that nothing happens, please see this page). What Jesus says about prayer in the Bible clearly is not true. Therefore, one of two things must be happening: God is imaginary. God does exist, but he never answers prayers. Unfortunately, God is defined by the Bible to be a prayer-answering being. The contradiction between the reality of God and the definition of God proves that God is imaginary.

    How can I respect any religion since it's all fantasy, yet people like you refuse to accept reality? Do you believe in Islam? How about Mormonism? Buddhism? Greek gods? If not, then you are exacty the same as me. I just believe in one less god than you do. How do you explain God's mass murder in the Bible? How do you explain the slavery and misogyny in the bible? Have you sold all your possessions and given everything you own away? If not, you are going against Jesus' teachings. God says thou shalt not kill, yet he's directly responsible for millions of killings in the bible. I was brainwashed as a child, as you were, to believe these fairy tales, or the loving god would sentence me to a life of torture and misery. Doing some simple research on the internet has convinced me god is imaginary. If you'd just open your eyes and do a little studying, there's no other conclusion you could reach. For concrete proof god is imaginary, go here. godisimaginary.com/i24.htm

    Only writing to let know the truth.... My intention is not to hurt anybody's sentiments, so take this in that spirit There are many major problems in the main Christian doctrines which are enough for one to realize that Christianity can simply not be from God.... Problems such as "Bible is word of God", considering that Bible has many errors, contradictions and discrepancies... Secondly, concept of Trinity and Jesus divinity (i.e. Jesus is God) can simply be disproved from LOGIC and scripture too

  • @yestothetruth

    Testimonies are the kind of examinable things that are routinely accepted in courts of law. They are presumed to express a reality experienced by a witness. So, testimonies are subject to scrutiny and on that basis can be accepted as hard facts or rejected. It's up to you to examine and make a conclusion from what you hear. But note that spiritual truth necessitates a measure of faith to be apprehended. It's not by any scientific method that anyone will come to admit as truth that God exists. And if He has made Himself known to someone according to his word recorded in the Bible, that is evidence of both his existence and interactions with people, albeit not of the kind that can be put before someone to do experiments with with a skeptical mind. Hence, a testimony is what you will hear (including the message of the Bible as a whole). And what you hear is the path for you to have any kind of faith yourself and progress to what will be personal irrefutable evidence to you. God has prescribed the way to approach Him and humility is key. That's a personal trait rather than a scientific apparatus. And by hearing that from me, you have the opportunity to accept that this is something worthless or worth investigating. Peace to you!

    YesToTheTruth Good point, people’s personal experiences are definitely or of the stronger arguments for god but what about all the people who’ve genuinely seeked and called out to god for years but never found him? I’ve heard many people who lost their faith go through that. And what about people’s testimonies of other gods or the thousands of people who reported that they were abducted by aliens or saw a ghost? I’m not trying to discredit all personal experiences by the way there’s just a lot to question about it.

  • @yestothetruth

    @yestothetruth

    @@sgh2389 People who are calling out to God must do so on his terms. The experiences of some who failed to "make contact with God" cannot invalidate the successful approaches. There must be humility and a thirst for what God cares about. A lot of people found God without much understanding of the quest they were embarked on, but through even very different circumstances, the same principles will be found to hold. There is one God who created all. That's whom one can learn about his dealings with mankind in the Bible. So, there are certainly false testimonies of other gods. Here relativism doesn't work. Truth is objective and what is not true must be false, not "true for someone else." The Bible does state that the way to God is narrow. And that also is not the picture you get by looking at the "Christian religion." There is massive deception among so-called Christians and they also have false testimonies of Jesus Christ. This can be discerned from how they speak of living as a Christian, how they understand their relationship with Jesus, and how they got to said relationship. Testimonies can be tested against the teachings of the Bible. As far as extra-terrestrial creatures, they are either those that reside with God or the fallen angels that rebelled against God and that reside between God's throne in the highest above the earth and the earth. I recently shared 3 short videos on my channel that speak about how I came to a relationship with God. That was simultaneously a point of no return as far as feeling the need to check out what people of other faiths may be putting out as the way to "connect" with God (or whatever way they may call that reaching to a higher "something"). I admit it's a longing that people from different cultures have, but there is only one way to fulfill that longing. And that way is the truth. Among all the things He said, Jesus said this: "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"(John 14:6). That's where it all starts: his word. I invite you to see the messages on this playlist: _Seek and Find Jesus_ kzread.info/head/PLQKBVZh0-tlK_GYWgOfdgiHNF0MZcn9oa I appreciate the conversation. Peace to you!

    It will never be enough. No matter how much money you make. How many friends you have. How well known you are. How overall successful you will be. At some point everyone will die. Eventually names will be forgotten. Legacies will be outdated, and eventually in the grand scheme of the universe you will be forgotten. Only through Jesus Christ is there sustenance in life. Only through Him actions have weight, and doing good become meaningful. For me, I was always discontent and I had a pretty damn good standard of living. But I always had felt worthless and even though I grew up catholic, I had doubts, and never really cared for or connected with Jesus Christ. I never gave a shit. Before I also always contemplated suicide EVERY single day. It wasn't until relatively recently that I became more understanding, and more closer than I ever was to Jesus, and since then I have felt at peace, and before when the thought of suicide seemed inescapable, the same thought now never crosses my mind. Sometimes I feel down, but for the most part I am happy, and I am always content. And now there's this fire inside me, this drive, a passion that I had never experienced before to just serve God. That even in the worst circumstances, I will still be 100% willing to serve him no matter how hard life gets, because with Jesus there is life, meaning, and love.

    That's amazing you found meaning in your life and were able to overcome these depressing thoughts! However, are you religious because you truly believe in God? Or do you pretend to believe in God because you don't want to go to hell? In that case, it's not really believing. Everyone longs for intrinsic purpose for life and wants to believe their lives will be meaningful forever. However, don't make things up to fulfill your need for answers. PainsNotYourName

    Zac Zourbang, Fantastic response. When you research the history of antiquity, you learn hell was a Christian invention that has been used for centuries to control people. The idea of eternal torment originated with the Greeks. The hell Christians claim exists isn't mentioned in the Old Testament, only Sheol, the permanent place of the dead where both the righteous and unrighteous go. When Christians try to argue hell has been a belief of Christendom since the days of the New Testament, they demonstrate a fundamental ignorance of church history. Eternal torment wasn't a pillar of church doctrine for the first 5 centuries. St. Augustine gets the credit for forcibly inserting it into the orthodox Western church doctrine. Most of what Christians believe about hell comes from Catholicism and an ignorance of the Old Testament.
