I’m 78, when I was in college at Cleveland State University and McDonalds opened a store at 105th and Euclid Avenue, we used to go there when they were closing, and order a hamburger, fries and a soda. The people behind the counter would fill our bags with all the food they were going to have to throw away. We sometimes got 8 or more bags of fries. Sometimes they would have a lot of hamburgers or cheeseburgers and they were in the bag too. All that for less than $.50!

How have people that have lived in this ponzi and watched prices exponentially rise for 70-80 years not panicked out of the currency decades ago? I've only been alive for many less years and i've panicked out of the currency already.

No. - Gold is money and is a store of value long term. - Currency like the dollar is not store value long term. - Your income, priced in either, is just a trade. At the time of the trade it is worth more. - The problem is NOT any particular trade, but what happens after the trade, over time. - The problem IS that without sound money, the value after a trade is diminished over time.

Hello from Canada. My father and I went to McDonald's last year and it cost us about $35 for 2 burger combos. Nothing fancy, just a couple 1/4 pounders I believe. My dad was shocked, but I was expecting that. I keep telling that $100 is the new $10.

The FED's (a private corporation) only business product IS inflation of the currency. The US's biggest export is the debt. Too good of a gig for either to give up until it doesn't work anymore.
I dropped McDonalds 2 decades ago. When I learned exactly what junk food meant and refused to give my kids the nutritive value of their food. .99 kid burgers be damned . At least we have one great side effect of inflation. Less junk food being consumed

Hey Mike, Thanks for leaving the comments open. I'm a big PMs fan and was recently on David Morgan's channel. I was going to comment we might all be dead before silver does anything but he has his comments off. It's good to see both the good and the bad comments, IMO.
Excellent points! As you pointed out in an earlier video, consumer prices have risen slower than producer prices, meaning that retailers are not passing costs on to consumers immediately! Currency creation is a stealth tax not so hidden anymore!
ive only been able to buy one ounce of gold though being on minimum wage i have mostly silver
Nice work boys!!!!!
I'm from the UK,but saw a clip on Utube, that a politician in CA calling for the minimum wage to be $50 per hour.

This also exposes the CPI(CP LIe) as prices are up more than 6.29 times since 1971. I'd like to see same chart with the 1980 CPI measurement from Shadow stats added in starting in 1981! That would be REALLY Dramatic!

I visited the US in 1980 and eat at a McDonald, it was impressive, clean, well run and the food was good. I then returned to visit the biggest McDonalds (Florida) in 2000 telling my children to expect a treat in comparison to the McDonalds in the UK. This was a shock, the resteraunt was poorly run with two workers having a heated argument and delaying service to everybody's discontent.
Why is Silver still so cheap then???? Criminal manipulation by the Crimex, oops sorry I meant Comex.

You make a good point that gold is actually paying a relative dividend due to the supply of M2. I would be interested in some comments on gold leasing. Monetary Metals is a leasing gold, but it's hard to get past the idea of security. I believe you said "If you can't hold it you don't own it". I have the same insecurities about Gold Silver's "Instavault". Perhaps you could discuss the pros and cons of both leasing and vaulting.
Now if I go ...,. Like maybe once a year , it's 20 dollars for a burger, fries , shake . That is if nothing else extremely noticeable.
It depends on the currency when Gold hits 100,000 an ounce. A lot of currencies have already pass that point.
$18 is about right if you measure in the value of Silver coinage.
Not to mention the patties are now as thin as a slice of ham. All bun and very little burger. They've sliced one into 2. Get a cheeseburger and a chicken mayo and put them together. Half the price and much tastier if thats your thing.

At 14:22 Price & Value will be divergent in BTC. For Gold - no divergence.
Alan, maybe you could do a study between prices in gold miners and the price of gold. What I mean is, BEFORE the dollar was being printed into oblivion, that was when the gold miners seemed to go up in value first before gold. Because their costs of mining it were not going up exponentially like today. Now, it seems like there's a point where the miners will not be able to extract gold at a profit compared to the dollar, so they will have less incentive to mine it eventually. So that might make gold more scarce and it will actually OUTPERFORM the miners instead of the other way around. Get my point? I thought of this, bc clearly the miners are underperforming the actual gold price. And I suspect this is bc their costs of mining are going through the roof.
You know why they call it a Royale with Cheese in Amsterdam?
I recently went into a burger king in nottingham saw the prices and walked right back out. For what they were going to charge me for a burger (£8 for a double whopper if my memory serves me) - no fries or drink I could walk 200 yards to the local kebab/pizza shop and get a 12inch pizza for £8.50!!! No-brainer - I could even get a sit down thai meal for around £15 where the quality is even better! I think these franchises will fast be out of business as people now can't afford to "treat" themselves to these "luxuries". Even though my company pays my expenses Im still very cost and quality conscious.
Interesting. A Big Mac set in Japan is ¥950, which at ¥150/US$ is $6.33. So this suggests that the US$ is massively overvalued in yen terms.
Mike, I’m 20 years old and ran across your KZread channel recently, how would I go about gaining you as a mentor and getting in contact with you? Much appreciated!

Important to understand that McD positions itself as part an entertainment industry. They entertain their customers by stuffing them with junk. Therefore, they view movie theaters, streaming video services and computer gaming as competitors, not a Wendy’s around the corner.

When I was a kid growing up in the 70's and 80's not only were the fast food prices lower, not that it was health food by any means, but you didn't even begin to have the amount of chemicals, GMO's and God knows what else in fast food at that time like today. It was mostly just fat, sugar and salt. Now it's just a over priced chemists concoction combo. 😝
No retirement - Don't ever retire!
$18 costs me 28.5gr of silver coin in UK from EBay 😂
“As grocery prices come down.” - am I the only one bothered by this statement? Maybe it’s just MY grocery store, but they don’t raise and power prices like the spot price of metals...once prices go up in USA, that’s just the new price. Why do mainstream politicians get away with BLATANT lies? “Your groceries ARE cheaper” - because we said so? I’ll be sure to keep you guys updated when they begin LOWERING prices in the my local grocery store. Hasn’t happened yet.
Not much mention of the Big Mac index nowadays, I'm in the UK and McDonalds is no longer a cheap eat but it's still cheaper than the US.
Example of $100 Big Macs in 21 years used assumption that inflation rate would be 10% per year over that span. This is unlikely.
24.5 grams of fine silver for a big mac, small fry, and a small drink. How about I get 2 big macs, 2 small fries, and 2 small drinks for 1 toz of fine silver? Where I live its 28 grams of fine silver for 3 big macs, 3 small fries, and 3 small drinks.
It’s time for no more MCDonalds. Calling McDonalds a restaurant is ridiculous it’s a fast food joint serving unhealthy crap.
Your thumbnail is misleading.. 68 cents was 58 years ago $18 is in a resort very expensive place anyhow and if you're in a resort like that why the hell would you eat a Big Mac anyway
Don't forget that the tax on that $18 is more than the 68 cent original cost, so in effect, you could get the meal for free in 1960 and get change back from your free meal
4 cents for cheese! I'd be bringing my own. lol
“Have you had your break today?” Is McDonald’s slogan it’s a joke 😂😂😂
Uh hemm, it's called Cellulose fiber, not "sawdust"! ;D
Currency is money, just not good money. Sea shells at one point was money, rocks and eagle feathers too. Now bitcoin is money. Anything that's accepted as a medium of exchange is money.
McDonalds is that unaffordable yet their stock is at all time highs?

Bars, restaurants , etc etc. I pass 50, 60 , 100000 vehicles all over the place everyday. What gives? How are these people doing it? The supermarkets are packed. My co workers are jetting off to Hawaii Friday. I have no debt.I buy Gold , silver and save monthly but wtf?
23:28
IDK Mike, I'm not sure you can say that they aren't trying to price gouge us. I say that bc, right down the street there is a Circle K store and they sell pretty much the same Sausage Muffins as McD's Sausage McMuffin. I can get TWO for 5 bucks there, which is $2.50 each. They don't have hashbrowns, but they do have better coffee. So that means McD's is charging me $6 for a hashbrown and coffee. And both of those combined probably cost them 50 cents. So at the current prices, there margins are really high, but I now refuse to pay it. In addition, McD's sandwich shrunk smaller than the one at Circle K! It's not that I can't afford to pay McD's prices, I just refuse to get gouged. Another point: if Circle K is making a profit at $2.50 then that means McD's cost of a breakfast combo is probably around $2 for the sandwich, hashbrown and coffee and they're charging me $8.50!

It probably depends on where you're located. They did give the caveat at the beginning that this may be just a specific McD's or in a certain region with higher costs. There was something in the news recently about McD's prices skyrocketing in California due to the extreme increase in labor cost when the state minimum wage rose.
