I just started an MIT Intro to CS with python course a month ago - def not easy, but I'm hoping I can land something within a year. Was planning to go over CS50 too, and/or freecodecamp + odin project, but not sure if that's a lil too much lol Great video!

    Hey man, I just wanted to say this is super inspiring to see. I’m a photographer/videographer from Dayton as well and have fairly similar background. I’ve flirted with the web development/software engineer idea in the past but have always found a reason to not pursue it or life gets in the way of setting time aside to learn. I recently decided to fully commit to trying to learn full stack web development over the next year and land a job in about a year too. I’m just tired of gig income if I’m being honest, and need some stability especially now that I’m getting older, (just turned 30). Anyway, thanks for the inspiration, it’s nice to see someone like me follow through and get into a field I’m trying to get into when I see so many peoples stories that I just can’t connect with.

I am now working through the Odin Project and am 50% through Foundations in a week. I will be doing CS50X alongside one I hit the Javascript section. Would be interested to see you compare CS50 to FreeCodeCamp and The Odin Project.

    Howdy. What are your thoughts on Leetcode/Codewars? Did you use either of those to become job ready? About how much time would you say you spent learning your first language? I've completed a months long program with portfolio, but I definitely need more JavaScript training. What the program taught was minuscule. I've been advised to do Codewars next. Seems like gatekeeping to me. Your thoughts?

  • @Keithcancode

    @Keithcancode

    Жыл бұрын

    My best advice is build more projects. I personally didn’t use any of those platforms to get job ready. I landed a job by taking the time to build things outside of the initial courses I took and really craft a portfolio that I could take on interviews and be able to speak to instead of just showing them projects I basically copied from a course.
