FROG Military Aircraft Selection

FROG was an acronym. It stood for Flies Right Off the Ground. It was another major UK model Company, until it folded in the late 1970's.
Here we have a selection of original FROG kits built by one of our members.

I loved FROG models as a boy. They were really great for getting into the hobby for their simplicity and ease of construction. Great job, and thanks for the memories.

Good/fair kits with fantastic bix art. Stuka with 37 mm cannons.....my favorite. Thanks for sharing this with the YT modeling community. Bill

Thanks for posting these. Really nice to see them built up. I like the spinning props on the Beaufighter.

The Beaufighter was one of three 'Spin' kits produced by FROG. The Member who built this, managed to obtain the motors. There is another video on this Channel that features the 'Spin' Beaufort. That video has motion, rather than pictures. Oh. The third 'Spin' kit was a Ju88.

Yes!!! Frog were really good, not because of any amazing detail or accuracy, but because they went together well. I remember building the Mk 1 Blenheim - a beautiful kit - you've done it proud here. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for your comment about the Blenheim. I'll pass it on to the Member who built it. The FROG Blenheim was the 'only game in town' for many years. It was only a few years ago that Airfix produced one.

@@NorthDevonModelSociety Airfix did have a Mk IV concurrent with Frog's Mk I, but that Airfix offering took the patience of a saint to produce something decent.

Aqui em Londrina no Brasil não chegaram muitos dos modelos. Mesmo assim consegui vários mas não vinham em caixas e sim em sacos plásticos. Mas o que eu mais gostava da Frog eram os navios de escolta. Bons tempos. Obrigado por seu vídeo.

When FROG closed. Novo (Russian) bought the Allied tools. Revell bought the Axis ones. You can still buy the kits, but there's a different name on the box.

On the whole. They're basic kits, but they did produce some obscure subjects. When FROG closed. The tools were bought by the likes of Novo and Revell.

I build the Blenheim, it was with two versions, and I choose the finnish one. The Typhoon seems a better mold, there was a version sold in blister, very awful, no pilot or interior, the undercarriage was non existant.

Airfix kits replaced the 'baggie' with a blister. FROG did sell kits in a 'baggie'. Not seen a FROG blister though.

Every kit an adventure. Many hours of fun and educational. Nowadays kits although excellent in detail requires far too much research sometimes stumbling before you can build. There are without a shadow of a doubt excellent model makers around the world. But these days sometimes the fun has been removed for over complicated builds .

I agree with you. Personally. I'm enjoying the Airfix Vintage Classic range. Simple kits that are fun to build. After all. Shouldn't model making be a pleasure?
