FRIGHTENING Encounter at Family Cabin in ILLINOIS | Plus Interview!

HI Guys -
Tonight I have a story from one of our viewers named Brian. Brian grew up in Illinois and in the early seventies had an experience at his family cabin south of Victoria, Illinois. There in 1972 him and his friends saw first hand a Sasquatch while exploring the Hills around their cabin that were part of an abandoned coal mine.

It's easy enough when you get used to it. It's just a simple mind over matter thing. Used to be just me and the dog on my night time trail walks around the edges of my town, but the ex took the dogs so now I have to settle for walking with my brother lol. Not that I dislike my brother, just that here in Australia you're more likely to see a Yowie by yourself than when you're with others. My dog did behave strangely once or twice but aside from that, not much to report....

Most of these people are experienced woodsmen and its a little bit of a stretch to think they would make up stories like that. There are some things that just can't be explained away. Things that man just will never fully comprehend. Too many people have seen these things or heard them or had experiences in the deep woods that can not be explained. I think there is something in those woods, I've seen and heard things myself that I know nobody would believe me if I told it.

@@basecampchris Discovered your channel not long ago and concur, that doing an interview is a great addition. I listen to a few BF channels and just subbed to your channel. Of the few videos I have seen of yours it seems you don't get political. This is the very reason I un-subbed to a certain Canadian's popular BF channel. I listen to various channels for political information, I don't want to listen to his political opinions while I am trying to relax. Many people listen to the BF topic for entertainment, not to be dictated to about politics. In fact, I started listening to BF stories a few years ago mostly for entertainment, and curiosity, before bedtime and it does help me sleep. At this point, after listening to hundreds of BF stories, I have zero doubt a hominid exists in North American that is popularly referred to as Bigfoot, Sasquatch and many other Native American names. Also, I really appreciate the campsite story framing for your stories, the craft beer and cooking is cool too.

Good combination - you telling the story by the river, walking back then listening to the interview while cooking a Reuben sandwich. Your style of interviewing is very rare and great for the listener - you are letting the subject speak and tell his story in his own words, then only asking questions towards the end. It's kind of amazing that you have never encountered a sasquach yourself in all these lone camping expeditions during nearly all seasons.

Less than 45 mins from me...YIKES!!!! I just heard a story lastnight from Mapleton IL. A kid was riding his mini bike around woods and had to cross cornfield to get home. As he passed 1 corner of field something huge and brown gradually stood up. It was hunkered down in this corner where some stalks were left over and not cut. Kid glanced back and just noticed size and flew home. He told his mom who grew up on that land. She just nonchalantly said to start riding across the street in those woods 😮...that was it and nothing was ever seen again. This was mid to late 70's *Peoria Journal Star/newspaper for article

Said his mom had woke him just after six that morning screaming for him to come outside because something was moving around behind her in there yard, she was getting something from her vehicle. Him and his younger brother came running out on the porch to see a tall brown hairy creature standing next to a barbed wire fence. He said all i knew to do was just start yelling at it and it jumped the fence and took off running on all fours like a gorilla. His little brother says oh my gosh i think we just saw bigfoot!

My Grandfather and his parents arrived in Canton Illinois from New York in 1874. Canton is about 25-30 miles south of Victoria, Illinois. The family then consisted of two boys, one my grandfather his sister Mary, and brother John. Local fishing trips were to the Illinois river and various creeks. John was best man at my grandparents wedding in Canton in 1895. Very shortly afterward, he disappeared and despite much searching, he was never found. All were perplexed as to why this otherwise happy, handsome ( I have a good photo) 23 year old would disappear. This is the least likely possibly, but given the proximity, it gives one pause.

And they should be afraid. How many humans want to kill things immediately that they’ve never seen before. After we saw one not too far from our home one night, I was afraid to even drive through that area alone. For the longest every time I drove that stretch of road, I kept my camera on video. But lately I’ve been thinking if I ever see it again, I want to try to speak to it. From the inside of my car of course, just in case it isn’t friendly. 😊

Wow! It's all about the timing on this man having to live his whole life with people thinking he's lying if it wasn't for the newspaper and deputies. I think that's a bigger deal than most would give it credit for as seeing something so rare and also having the fear impact and also the need to talk or validate it all encompass that!

Great story in a spooky place. Chris when I saw you with your boots propped up on that fire rim, it remind me of a time that I did that with desert boots on that we worn back in the day. When I got up and walked around they had melted and I had about an inch of dirt and leaves that got stuck to my boots. I ended up having to cut it off with a big knife, it ruined my boots so, be careful LOL.

Once you have an encounter you never forget because it has more of an effect on you. Their very presence imprints on you so profoundly. It more than just crossing paths. When they look at you it like they can touch you at a distance so the creepy feel is more than the normal. It's very hard to explain unless you have the same understanding that it beyond explanation at least in our words. I was told the woods are both home and battlefield for animals. On bright sunny day the woods are creepy by themselves. Pretty but dangerous like a Rose has thorns to protect itself. GOOD VIDEO 😎

I'll tell you a story about Bigfoot. It happened in 2014. I went to the Crimea to celebrate the New Year and visit the mountains, because I like to travel. Nothing foreshadowed the events that took place a little later. A month later, Russia annexed Crimea and a series of sad events began, leading to a full-scale war in 2022. But then everything was peaceful and calm, I arrived by train from Moscow to Simferopol. Then, on a trolleybus going through the passes, I drove to Yalta, a city located on the Black Sea coast. From there, I moved to the city of Alushta, next to which are the Demerdzhi mountains. I went hiking in the mountains, hoping to find a place to spend the night there and stay for a few days. On the way I stopped in an oak grove. There I made a fire and dined, ate food purchased at the market in Alushta. Suddenly I noticed a tuft of wool on a tree. It was located at a height of about 2 meters. The wool was white, long, reminiscent of the hair of an old woman. An inexplicable fear gripped me as I approached this object. I tried to leave this place as soon as possible. I am very sorry that I did not think of taking a sample of this wool, but there was something infernal in it and I was afraid. After some time, I found a place to camp. I set up my tent and got ready to sleep in a sleeping bag. Metal utensils, a pot and a mug were outside. Suddenly, I heard a strange and terrible sound that is hard to describe. It was a roar, loud and unusual in tone. As if the throat making that sound was made of wood. I was stunned with horror. It felt like my hair was moving on my head. Then there was silence. I tried to sleep and not think about it. However, in the middle of the night I woke up from the sounds of metal dishes. Someone walked around the tent and touched my items. It was snowing and I heard the crunch of the snow. At the same time, I experienced incredible fear, which completely paralyzed me. I couldn't move, it was hard to even breathe. I don’t know how long this went on, but suddenly I really wanted to go to the toilet. It was awful. But still I was able to find the strength in myself and get out of the tent. It was dark. I did not see anyone, did my business and returned back. The fear disappeared as suddenly as it appeared. Then I slept peacefully until morning. Studying the area in the morning, I did not find any unusual footprints. Then the locals told me that in these places it happens and people sometimes see Bigfoot.

Chris I live up in Incline Village, NV and just love your stories. Just stumbled on them one day and now I have my 16 year old daughter listening and one of my older brothers as everyone seems drawn to your stories. They are done so well and it just comes off so natural. Great seeing your having real success now. I’ve always believed there was a North American Wood Ape (Sasquatch)that remains undiscovered. So many stories with similar themes (rock throwing, grunting and knocks) from people who have no reason to attract attention and potentially be labeled a wack-a-do. Keep them doing…we also love that the settings for these video are in our back yard. You give me ideas of where to go many times. Maybe we will run into to each other and I could buy you a beer! I used to be an award winning master brewer in my previous career!
