Frieren is so good it has ruined my life

Фильм және анимация

Frieren has ruined my life. What is, for the most part, a wonderfully calming show about dealing with the passage of time has sent me into the existential abyss of my own mortality for days on end.
And I love it for that.
A deep dive on how the first part of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End handles its core themes of time and mortality and how strongly they can resonate with the audience's deepest fears.
Chapters:
0:00 Mortality
1:12 Frieren & Time
2:27 Humanity
3:45 Heiter
6:24 The Liberation Festival
8:57 Time wins, but you don't lose
10:37 For you are dust, and to dust you shall return

Oh no, first words and I already understood, that I shouldn't watch. A while ago I sank into such thoughts really deep. I thought about the concept of death day by day, untill once the strongest terror stroke me - the terror of dying. You know... we all often saying this phrase: "we all are going to die one day, nothing is eternal", but I guess, we never understand it on the emotional level. When people are really close to death - only then their survival instinct kickes in and set them in panic. But I actually activated this thing just thinking about it too much, and it was truely terrible! I prayed god to forget this realisation, and it worked. Now I try to avaoid this direction of thinking. I'm afraid it's too much for a human to handle, it's unnatural for us to fully realise such things. It can drive you mad

I had only heard of Frieren in passing before; mostly for the memes that circulate Twitter from time to time. Never had I expected the gravitas the series would actually hold and not even be a finished body of work yet. Singlehandedly - this video has given me much to chew on and I think it's now only a matter of time before I dive in. Fantastic video, thank you for this.

This reminds me of the poem of Ozymandias ( Ramses the second) and his longing to be remembered, he crafted a great statue but over the thousands of years all that remains is a shattered visage of a long forgotten king. Ramses power was lost to ages and nature took over by eroding his final legacy it shows even when you may have all the power in the world eventually it will be stripped away from you and you’ll be nothing but another piece of old history, Ozymadias was lucky he was remembered which in the end gave him some form of a memory of his great kingdom.

Quite truthfully, this might be the best Frieren analysis on KZread. You cover more than just one theme, yet the video never meanders and remains cohesive. Thank you for this! By the way, what city is that at the beginning and end?

Why afraid to die? I don't understand that. I'm not afraid to die. I just don't want to make anyone sad by my departure. They are the only ones who would get to experience your death and its impact after all. You wont. You'll be dead. It's like being depressed that you can't touch the sun ever. It's nonsense.
