Very early in the tale of The Black Labyrinth, our protagonist sees a sign directing the way to the Goblin City and it's pointing into a very dark forest. Despite the warnings of a talking raven, he enters alone. Night falls and he's surrounded by five strange creatures that look like emaciated gargoyles.
Victims of The Shadow, their eyes are clouded over and their skin is gray and rough. One could perhaps imagine that at one time, they may have been covered in colorful plumage.
They sing our protagonist this song insisting they should lead him through the forest, but their creepy appearance and overzealous sales pitch cause him to question their intentions. Should he trust them?

From the black of the briar they're howling hungry.

For clarification I was referring to 3:38 and 3:49 where he leads into the chord changes with a goofy face. I earnestly don't know what to refer to that as otherwise. Mugging? Goofing around? What I intend to say is he seems to be having fun and I'm loving it.

I cannot tell you how delighted I was to come across this video! I was disappointed that you didn’t feature more of your Black Labyrinth songs in the concert I got to attend. There’s so many fantastic and fun songs on the album! That said, coming across this acoustic version now is such a joy!
This guy's music made me a friend. I'm not the most sociable person, and I'm rather introverted. I was giving a ride to a friend of a friend, and I had Voltaire songs playing in my car. Instant bonding moment with this person that was almost entirely a stranger to me. I was the first person they had met that listened to it. We got to talking more, and it turns out we have more than just a music taste in common but Voltaire was the start of it all.

It's not just great to listen to your music, it's also so entertaining to watch you make music! The expression, the joy, it just feels like you really love what you're doing! This is my favorite one so far, which is funny since Chilly Down is my least favorite Labyrinth song (though I love all of Labyrinth).
