Friends director's favourite memories of Matthew Perry | 60 Minutes Australia

Subscribe here: 9Soci.al/chmP50... Full Episodes: 9now.app.link/... | Everyone's Friend (2023)
From almost the very first episode, the Hollywood sitcom Friends was destined to be a hit. Its brilliance came from its simplicity. Each episode was beautifully crafted and lovingly performed by a charming cast. For ten seasons the friends on the show made us laugh so much we felt like they were our friends. It’s the reason why, in the two weeks since actor Matthew Perry died, so many tears have been shed around the world.
One person who knew Matthew better than most is award-winning television director James Burrows. He worked on the very first episodes of Friends, forging a fatherly bond with the entire cast. In an emotional interview with Karl Stefanovic, James remembers the best of times with his great friend Matthew.

I grew up in the same city as Mathew in Ottawa, Canada. Mathew used to play competitive tennis with my best friends brother in the 80’s, his name would often be in the sports page of our local newspaper, the Ottawa Citizen. I was 21 when I moved across the country from Ottawa to Vancouver in 1994, the year friends started. That show saved me in so many ways, living alone in a new city was lonely, but having the show Friends every week brought me so much joy and comfort, it was like a warm hug, especially having Mathew, a familiar face , there, on my screen, every Thursday was such a gift. Xo

I think friends popularity was that you felt they were your friends no matter what kind of day you had. Also,it was a lifestyle many people wanted.Hanging out with besties, going through drama and staying loyal. Mathew was my favourite and i loved the scene where he stepped out of the shower with a towel around his head after listening to a wrong tape encouraging you to be a better more empowered woman. Miss him.

To me, his legacy won’t be his friends character, it’ll be about his struggles with addiction, and trying to help others struggling with the same disease. I hope others will see it the way I do.

He's not his stepdad anymore. 😢 Wtf is wrong with you???? That's what came to mind when you found out Matthew passed away? Something is wrong with you. How about start giving condolences instead of mansplaining things to people that are GRIEVING?!!! Some people have no soul and it's scary they are walking amongst us. WTF 😂😂😂

One of my favorite movies is Fools Rush In. Another is The Whole Nine Yards. I've watched both soooooo many times. I'm not even a fan of the genres! He is a legend. So sorry for the loss to everyone.

i rarely ever watched Friends, but I loved when he played Roger, Patrice Johnson's ( Christina Applegate) boyfriend in the 1988 NBC made for TV prom movie , "Dance Till Dawn."

His bravest and most notable act should be putting the most lovable and _human_ of faces on a cruelly dehumanizing disease. I hope he has peace now. Read his book.

Never watched Friends, tried, but could never handle it. I do however understand addiction. Tough. May my fellow addicts realize and accept the fact that we are powerless, but we can live life on life’s terms, especially with our Higher Power, whom I chose to call LORD.❤🙏✌️

The only thing I can think of is the amount of money they all made during these years of "Friends". Wasn't it one million dollars each per episode? BTW, he was freaking awesome as Chandler Bing.

I have no sympathy for self-obsessed people who can’t control their destructive behavior. We all loose loved ones, family and friends. Especially when they’re rich, and successful. Idiots.

Look, the man wasn’t a saint. He was an addict of the worst kind, he killed himself by default. He also left a huge path of destruction which hardly no one talks about and it was extensively documented in his book and the media of course: he BROKE many hearts by his emotional unavailability and sleeping around with a variety of women, especially during the show’s decade run. One of his ex girlfriends wrote a heartbreaking op-Ed about how she never recovered from his emotional abuse. Yeah, let’s talk about that instead. He hurt people.

I hope you’re not referring to Hurwitz. This fame hungry gold digging POS needs to go back under her stone. She called the paps to photograph her in a park, the day after Matthew died. She was smiling and joking with her friends and then she saw the photographer and started to cry! Matthew’s friends have called her out for what she is and she even tried to sue him. What a shame Matthew had anything to do with Hurwitz, all his previous girlfriends have kept a dignified silence.
