The gentle neck grab and calm telling off of the white rooster at the start had me giggling. Love how he then just goes back to loving on the roo in his lap. Gotta teach those feisty boys who's boss! The way he understood and backed off from potential confrontation just shows you don't need to manhandle or abuse a naughty roo to teach them boundaries. And the one he put on his head just killed me, that is a very trusting and loved baby!!! Chickens live in a hierarchy just like dogs are in a pack. They are VERY smart and tend to learn fast. I LOVE all the roos I've had and only once did I have one that I had to humanely put down just because he was so severely mean, to the point we thought something was wrong with him mentally, despite our efforts to work with him. It was sad, but he was tearing my girls up and coming at us constantly. I couldn't put up with it anymore and knew anyone else would have put him in the pot. My BEST ever roo was a light bantam Brahma I named Cookie (short for "Cookies & cream" because of his black and white color). He loved ALL the girls and they ADORED him. I don't think I'll ever have a boy as good as he was again. So sweet.

I'm thinking he has handled those rooster since they were chicks. So they must know that he is their loving owner and therefore bond with him very well.

Quite likely. Interestingly there is a rather predominant myth that handling young roosters makes them aggressive. Our boys in our bachelor flock were handled daily as chicks and are just as tame and friendly as these ones. It has been our experience that roosters that are shown attention and affection return it tenfold and don't have a mean bone in their bodies.

How do you get your chickens to be so sweet? I have been trying to do that, and it seems its not working

Start as chicks. I have 12 that are a bit out of control with their need for attention. You can also bring one inside, you'd be amazed how quickly they relax. I've brought in the most skittish hens and after a day or two they are getting underfoot. I've got a large injured EE rooster inside who can't seem to get along with the other roosters and he doesn't like to be touched, but has to be in the same room with us and right by our chairs. Got pissy with some cords that were in his spot between my husbands and my chair. Chickens are hilarious.
