You know... Kaidan really won me over in this game. He was a little boring in the first and 2nd game but in ME3 he's a respectable and fun guy to be around. The exact opposite of the drama magnet Ashley who only gets worse with every game.

Literally the biggest regret I had during my first playthrough of the trilogy was letting Ashley survive Virmire. I was so happy in ME2 not having her around, but then ME3 rolls around, you think she's gonna be laid up in the hospital all game, and then right when I get my Quarian sweetheart back on board, little miss "Make the Galaxy Great Again" comes stomping back onto my ship.

I always liked Kaiden, his tactical appraisal was always more insightful and certainly more intelligent than what most other squad members had to say. He seems very smart and well informed, open minded and has a good grasp on politics. Plus he's a Sentinel. Can't go wrong there.

Compared to the other squadmates, I too noticed how much more "adult" his conversations felt in ME1 and 3. One of my favourite characters

This friendship is so adorable! And I love how Kaidan can take the jabs and send some back too. I think Shepard sometimes forgets that Kaidan outranks him :D

Nevyn Slash I can't say he does outrank him, he takes orders from Shepard and Shepard is more ranked in experience, and Shepard is leading a galaxy. So no he's no where on shepards level. Never quite understood the major-commander thing that well either in mass effect. But meh

It's times like these that I regret having Ashley around.

I originally saved Ash because I led her on before dumping her for Liara and calling her out on her anti-xeno opinions. I pitied her.

I love the Renegade options in this scene, where you're teasing him. Such a good bro moment.

Man, Mark Meer fucking KILLS it in this DLC. He's solid throughout all of ME3, but holy fuck his delivery of the funny lines is spot on.

Okay, so I just fell in love with this scene and I have a question for all of you: WHY DID YOU NEVER TELL ME THE NON-ROMANCE BROMANCE WAS TRULY A GEM?

I love those two. Doesn't matter if it's as best buddies or a couple.

I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite meal on the Citadel.

This one scene proves that Kaidan > Ashley, any day of the week. Plus, he's got some sweet biotics.

Kaidan is so underrated, unlike Ashley he questioned your decisions (instead of kissing your ass) and had an interesting backstory.

The friendship between them is so natural. Lovely.

So, for context, I romanced Kaidan in the first game then switched to Garrus in the second. I love this scene because, for my playthrough at least, this is the moment where Shepard and Kaidan finally ‘Get Over’ their previous paramour with each other and are able to be just friends again. No awkwardness, no lingering hostilities, no wistful wonderings of what could have been. Just two friends sharing a beer and having a laugh. They don’t need to wonder what could have been, because what they have now is perfect.

There is still so much sexual tension in a friendly relationship with Kaidan...

Hell, he's got enough of a personality that in ME1 he lies to Fem!Shepard about finding Asari attractive - cause he also has the hots for Shepard herself. When asked, Fem!Shep gets told they're "not to his taste", but when Man!Shep claims that he saw Liara first, Kaiden claims "only by a few seconds, sir". Not to mention his comments in Chora's Den. The personality's there, it's just right out there on his sleeve. You have to actually pay attention to see it.

"If you need luck to make us dinner, you're screwed." "Screwed? Don't confuse me with Ashley." ... "Too soon?"

I love that Renegade Shepard chuckles when Kaidan responds with sass and throws his words back at him. It shows that a Shepard of that morality can joke with his friends and take jokes back.

This scene keeps giving me the giggles and I don't know why :).

And it's in this moment that I realize I have never actually played ME where Kaidan has survived and not been romanced. (I haven't finished a male Shep playthrough and my other femShep kept Ash alive and romanced Garrus.) I feel this needs to be rectified. I like the friendship one ^^
