Oh man... have had a DC-2w for years now, but have never been able to use it stereo. Sounds great! May I ask, I bought a Friedman IR-X for traveling gigs and am currently in the middle of building a direct to FOH pedalboard with it not unlike yours. I want to try making it stereo as I've always just done mono with my tube heads. I've never used a switcher before and I saw on one of your videos you had a Gigrig G2 on one of your boards. Is there a way to use a switcher with your stereo pedals if you're using them after the Friedman IR-X's balanced out to go stereo? It's something I've been unclear on because, am I right, since the IR-X has a mono fx loop you need to run things like the DC-2w and stereo Strymons after the balanced out? Thanks so much!

You can use pedals after the looper, but in order to control them through the looper, both the looper and the pedals need to be MIDI programmable. The GigRig G2 offers even more possibilities. It allows you to place all pedals, including the IRX, in separate loops, with the last two loops being stereo. For instance, you can include stereo delay and reverb in these loops, while placing the IRX itself in a separate loop before them. This setup eliminates the need for MIDI control, allowing you to use any normal stereo effect without requiring MIDI compatibility. You can also command your IRX by MIDI by placing it after the G2 or some other MIDI programmable looper, and at the end of the chain (after the IRX), put the stereo effects you want. That way, you will command them through the MIDI along with any other effects you put in the individual loops on the G2. In any scenario, it’s nice to finally have a stereo line isolator like mine, for example, the Walrus Audio Canvas Stereo, which will convert your sound to balanced before you send the signal to the mixer. Cheers!

Hey thanks so much for taking the time to answer my questions so thoroughly! This is great to hear. I've never used midi and am frankly a little overwhelmed by it. I'm thinking I might build a board without a switcher for now, and if the tap dancing drives me crazy I can always invest in a switcher later. Also, I agree that it's nice to have stereo line isolators like the Walrus Canvas Stereo and Pinstripe Diso+. Thanks again!@@peterglavanov
