****** About Living Traditions Homestead ******
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 5 new videos every week! Tuesday through Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we transition from city dwellers to full time homesteaders!

KEVIN:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Pick that Okra much much sooner and it wont be so hard/tough, and spiny.....The ones you were picking in the video is what my family calls, "gone to seed" already!!! We all pick our okra just before it starts to form ridges.....when it is tender. Try that and your wife may enjoy Okra. They tend to have a totally different taste then. Also, we use fish fry in a golden bag to bread ours.....OMG is it good!!! I forget the name of it....You can't miss the cylinder like bag it comes in...it's shiny gold. (Walmart- on flour isle) It has just a touch of spice- not hot or even medium- its just the right amount. It takes okra to a whole new level! My grandmother, 94, has been using fish fry to cook her okra all her life and we fight over it!!! LOL Also, she will bread her okra before she freezes it. She says it's easier to deal with if you go ahead and get the hard part over with...Breading it. IDK how she does it but each one of her pieces is perfect and never sticks together.....She says its because she breads and freezes it but, that never works for me!!! LOL She puts it in hot grease straight from the freezer- no waiting. And its perfect!!!! Trust me, my mouth is watering just thinking of it. She's going to cook some this 4th of July and I can't wait!!! Try cutting your okra a good bit younger and see if you like it better. Happy growing- love your videos!

Make sure your oil is hot enough when you put in the first piece and your coating may stick better. Get the oil to 375 degF. I bet your grandmother gets her oil hot for cooking.

I've been on the fence about the air fryers but seeing results such as yours I'm sold! I use a similar method of breading veggies and I do large batches and freeze them on a cookie sheet then transfer to a freezer container. I just pop a couple servings into a skillet of oil...I think the air fryer is a MUCH healthier option. Thank you, Sarah and Kevin, for producing such great content. I often tell my hubby, "I'm trying something my friends Kevin and Sarah recommended...you know... the ones in Missouri." He finally understands I'm talking about y'all.

Great video. My mother (92 years young) loves both fried okra and peppers. Now here’s a way to give her that without all the grease. Thanks.

Just finished watching your review of the air fryer. You guys presented lots of helpful tips (like always) & I'm considering an air fryer, been holding off buying one bc they seemed small capacity. This one looks spacious. It would be nice to win an air fryer. Thank you for your helpful videos.

I was just telling my boyfriend I need to ask for an air fryer for my birthday :D I love fried okra and he's not really a fan, but we both HATE the oily haze that tends to fill up the house when we fry anything. This sounds like such a good fix! I love watching the two of you work together in the kitchen, too

You guys are so awesome! I have watched almost all of your episodes since you moved to Ava, MO. We live close to Columbia, MO and live on 28 acres. So glad I watched this episode for the fly recipe. Our horse and mule have had a terrible time with flies this years as you indicated Hope was miserable too. Love your family and the excitement you bring to my day. I'm 73 years old and we used to farm 220 acres and had 200 rabbits, both show and meat. Your silver fox rabbits are fairly new to me but they are gorgeous and so healthy looking and well cared for. We had lots of issues with fox, possum and other critters. Stay safe and well...oh the air fryer segment was great too! Linda

I have been on the fence about buying an air fryer, but with this video I think you convinced me to buy one. I absolutely love okra any way it’s cooked, but my favorite way is fried. I also love fried green tomatoes. Do you think they would work in the air fryer? My husband loves fried foods, so this would be a much healthier to fry things. Thank you you so much for your fun and informative videos. I always look forward to them. God bless
