As an LA native this movie is a certified classic, pretty realistic look at a day in the life of 1990's Los Angeles
Fun Facts: Deebo & Felicia were actually married before Deebo passed away, Megan Good was the little girl wearing the blue baseball cap, Michael Clarke Duncan was in the flashback when Deebo knocked out Red, Red (DJ Pooh) is Ice Cube DJ, the owner of the corner store is the director of the movie F. Gary Gray, and Deebo ( Tiny "Zeus" Lister) was a former wrestler in WWE/WWF during the 80's-90s.

Many years ago, I worked for a bank branch that had only a TV with a VCR and a handful of movies for entertainment in the break room. Friday was by far the most popular one. Repeated viewings were so common that it became a running joke with the staff that "every day is Friday". I've seen this movie so many times over the years that I can recite the entire thing verbatim. Good times.

@@scotthill1600 Oh, we had plenty of crime. But most crooks were really stupid and got themselves caught quick. I was in charge of the ATMs for a couple of years, and there'd always be at least a couple of people per week who'd try to commit fraud using the machines. When making deposits with the old models, you had to put your money in an envelope, then manually enter the amounts on the screen. So people would use empty envelopes and type fake amounts, and then withdraw that first $100 that was made automatically available. What they never seemed to realize was that to use the ATM, they had to use their card... which was linked to their account, social security number, address, etc. It made it _extremely_ easy for the cops to track them down. And that's aside from the cameras and fingerprints. So they got themselves arrested and ruined their lives for $100. Unbelievable. Attempted robberies were less frequent inside, but they did happen. There was one guy who came in trying to impersonate a client. What he didn't know was the client was good friends with the manager; the manager instantly knew he was a fake, but played along. He said that he just had to go to the back to print some documents, and the guy should just sit at the desk and chill. That idiot seriously thought he was getting away with it. He just sat there, never seeming to notice how long it was taking to get the documents. Nor did he seem to care when a few cop cars pulled up out front, and within view of the windows he was sitting by. Meanwhile, we all just kept working as usual and kept an eye on him. The cops casually strolled up and cuffed him, and we all laughed so hard once he was out of the building.

The phrase "Bye Felicia" definitely comes from this movie.
there’s a scene in straight outta compton where ice cube was actually writing the script for this movie
My favorite moment is when they come back from the store and Smokes car keeps backfiring and won't stay in park. And Smokey says "Watch my car make sure nobody messes with it" then sets the alarm. As if his car is in any condition for it to be worth stealing.
John Witherspoon was just excellent in this movie, it's sad he passed, he was still doing some work but he mostly did work on his KZread channel, where he just cooked stuff he loved, in just a apron, chef hat and in his underpants. XD
Absolute classic i think i like the 2nd and 3rd one a little more but they are worth watching and will make you laugh
One of the best movies ever! John Witherspoon really grounded the Friday world while being silly but not cartoony.
The 3rd one is the best one, this was just ICONIC
In the old days, two of the things you got at the Food Bank were "government cheese" and "government peanut butter". The cheese was a huge five pound block of cheese in a cardboard box, like a big Velveeta™️ box. The peanut butter was in one of those enormous tin cans, as big as as a coffee tin. You had to open the peanut butter with a can opener. The government cheese dipped in the government peanut butter was the shizznitz!

The other sequels are good too btw. The first one tho stands out the most and is a classic because it's very relatable/a familiar feeling. (+all the memes it generated)
Another great and funny movie with Ice Cube is Fist Fight, him and Charlie Day are hilarious together😂
I remembered being in high school when it came out. Folks were talking all about it on the following Monday. I hadn't seen it yet
The actress who played Felicia is a stand up comic, but she's gorgeous. I didn't know how pretty she was till recently
I remember having this on VHS I think I still do lol but I wore that tape out watching it over and over again
I'm so glad you both enjoyed Friday. This was the extended cut of the movie. So you saw everything and all the parts that was cut out of movie. I honestly don't recommend the sequels
I remember being 8 years old watching this at a friends house lol. The soundtrack is top notch too listen to it on here all the time.
That's a strange take, I thought they progressively got better. Creatively I know Ice Cube pivoted and did those vacation movies before doing the third Friday. I thought he was on point for number three and have watched it so many times. Also this appears to be a Director's Cut of the movie since there's a lot of scenes I swear were in the "deleted scenes" from my copy.

Love this movie, one of my all-time faves.
Man i hate that you can mainly only find the directors cut these days, i grew up watching the OG version on vcr and after watching that one for so long and memorizing literally every word the directors cut one just doesnt hit like the first. Its really only a few scenes in the beginning and a couple towards the end but one scene in particular is when craig is talking to his pops in the kitchen. In the og version there is a lot of johns chatter cut out which makes it smoother and funnier imo. “Every time i come in the kitchen, you in the kitchen. In the got damn refrigerator. Eating up alll the food all the chicken, all the pig feet, all the collard greens, all the hog maws, i wanna eat summa them chitlins, i love PIGS FEET!”
I didn’t have anything to do this Friday and haven’t seen one of your reviews in a while, This one made my Night🤣🤣🙌🏽
