Since Westworld in 2016, Anthony Hopkins has been having quite a late-career resurgence with some of the best work of his career, esp. in The Father, The Two Popes, and King Lear. I have a feeling this may be another of those great performances. In fact, if Hopkins is only half as great in this movie as when he himself played C.S. Lewis in Shadowlands, this will still be a brilliant performance.

@@mustang8206 You must be getting Sir Anthony Hopkins, one of the greatest actors of all time, a two-time Oscar winner, and a former protege of the legendary Laurence Olivier, confused with Sir David Attenborough, the naturalist. They are kind of similar; I can see how it happened. Hopkins has never done the narration for nature documentaries (though he did host one show about lions back in the 1990s); David Attenborough has done many but is not a movie actor. Of course, Hopkins has done a lot of things worse than narrating nature documentaries, but he has been in several critically acclaimed roles in his late 70s through mid-80s so far--and that is impressive by any standard.

And he's going to play in One Life too which looks phenomenal. Honestly since I grew up in the 2000s, my first exposure to Hopkins was Westworld, before I started watching the classics, but man the fact that he's still so pitch-perfect after all this time, and that he still gets the great roles through which to remind us of this, is great to see. Often times a great actor at old age kind of gets relegated to smaller films, Michael Caine just recently book-ended his career with a very small film, just glad Hopkins is still with us.

Philosophical inquiry is a central element in the intellectual history of many civilizations." @@mikeoyler2983 I think a lot of what Lewis wrote could be legitimately considered philosophy; however, even if you want to be strict with the term, he was clearly influenced by ancient philosophers. Just to take his most popular book series, the Underworld and the evil Queen's arguments to the children and Puddleglum about it are clearly a reworking and discussion of "Plato's cave." And thinking of Anthony Hopkins, the movie he was in playing Lewis was called Shadowlands, a term which the real Lewis used to represent the life in the physical world as opposed to the "real" spiritual world after death. To him this world is a world of shadows like the shadows on the walls of Plato's cave that can only hint in a flat, pathetic way at the real things outside the cave that are casting the shadows. Plato alone informed a lot of Lewis' thinking, and of course he was very taken by the ancient Greeks in general.

Can't wait to see Anthony in this role, but I honestly think CS Lewis should have been the counselor for Freud... lets wait and see how the storyline unfold...

Interesting to see Hopkins play Freud, given that he's already played Lewis.

If I'm not mistaken, Freud's last session was actually with two highschoolers in San Dimas, CA in 1989, and the correct pronunciation of his name is "Frood," like "dude."

The people who struggle about God’s existence are the ones who does not accept that all the evil we live in this world are the consequences of sin. It doesn’t have nothing to do with God but with the free will that God has given to humans. Humans are who decide and choose evil when we decide to live contrary to what God says in His Word. The Word of God is the manual that God gave us to live victorious and good lives. ”All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.“ (2 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

Considering that the church condones violent child rape, tax evasion and murder to start, I think if anyone wants to point fingers at anyone else, I think they ought to note they have three pointing back at them.
