Go to yourguitarsage.com/ to find out how to get a free guitar ebook that will have you playing guitar today!!! Go to www.fretlight.com/ to find out more about the Fretlight guitar. This guitar vid shows you the Fretlight 400 Series guitar. For more guitar lessons, see my other free tutorials. For original and cover music by me, Erich, go to www.myspace.com/erichandreas . Since I'm so busy making new video tutorial lessons all the time and teaching guitar, I probably won't have time to answer individual questions regarding guitar. Other videos cover beginner, advanced and intermediate levels. I teach rock, blues, country and just about any other style on electric or acoustic. If you can't find your answer from the resources at the website above, keep digging into my vids, and I'm sure you will find your answer. Keep practicing!!!

    I am 38, I played for 28 years, formally trained classical guitar player, but I studied flamenco, jazz, rock and so on, with seminars with some cool guys like Frank Gambale and Tommy Emmanuel. This guitar is two things: - a great learning tool for the mechanical part of guitar learning (coordination, memorizing patterns, scales...), nothing more than that, but that's already a big help - a great tool for someone not interested in learnng music and so on, but just in playing! Max

    ROFLOL Just gotta say it! I love the fret light. Even though I've been playing since I was 15 I can always learn something new. This guitar would help me do just that without leaving my home to go to an impromptu jam session with other musicians. This is what I've gotta say, "MAN, You had a major cow-lick going on in this vid.!

    I get the concept, but how do you know where to begin and end with any of these, I mean it lights up the pattern, but there isnt a start here or green light for where to begin, etc.. I think its a great idea but still could use some simplification. Ive never taken a lesson, I have been playing for 33 years, I play in an all original band that I write all the music and lyrics for, again never took a lesson. Even now after 33 years I am only beginning to learn scales and where to play for leads. Ive written a handful of guitar solos that are pretty basic and passionate yet all with no clue about scales, I watch seasoned players who know how to put these great runs together and wonder how will I ever learn this and be able to do that? Thanks goodness the internet has saved my butt but having a tool like this early on in my career would have been great!! I think with this concept a lot more can be done to teach, teach specific songs, solos, intros, scales, but more needs to be done yet.

    Nicely done. I see they have lefty's also. One thing I think everyone neglects to mention in their reviews is that the guitar actually sounds pretty decent also. I'm still undecided but I don't think I'd be throwing any $$$ away if I were to go that way. It looks like it could really open some doors musically without spending a shit ton of extra days upon weeks book learning. Well done!

    @CTrane88 To know it all, one must be master ear player, know the number system by heart and have all of the patterns down. Different people learn in different ways and in fact many of the guitar icons never knew how to read music. I was a classical guitar major so I know how to read music, but hardly EVER use it. Orchestra or pit musicians use it exclusively, but are not the best ear players. Some folks are better with patterns and others with notes. I can appreciate the opinion. Thanks man.

    Nice demo. The Fretlight seems useful for learning complex scales. I use books, the web, etc., but sometimes there is a disconnect between my guitar and the page. Especially when trying to learn a new complicated scale. Having the guitar light up and show the way seems like another great tool in one's arsenal. I don't understand why people say this is a terrible idea because you have to really learn guitar by ear. Lights will never assist in great playing, but they're not supposed to!

    @echostaffel Many players, especially chart players feel that music notation is a crutch because it tells you exactly what to do and leaves no room for improvisation or one's own emotion, other than what is written. I too like the option of playing in different section of the neck. However, check out what a great studio musician can do with a chart, and many strictly "music notation" readers will be humbled. It's art and there are so many ways to approach it. Again I appreciate the opinion.

    @cladouce Agreed that the dots do not give you feel. But they are a helpful learning tool. But just like my vids, they only show you kind of what to do. YOU have to make it come to life. Whether it's dots on a fretboard, dots on a page or paint on a palette, these things are only tools. WE must make them come to life. Thank you for the kind comments. I appreciate your opinion too. :) e

    From let's say 14 years of experience (being 18) and a few years' teaching and tutoring experience I would say that everyone learns in a different way. You could perhaps group it into for example the maths-like skills to read music, the aural skills to listen, or just the hard work and hands-on practise etc of a different kind of student. Personally I wouldn't have one of these at this stage in my playing, but if it helps others learn in their own style, that can only ever be a good thing!

    The blinking LED is the root , Usually that is the last note of any riff. So that The root key is defined. Also accentuate the third to Ensure that the minor/major key is heard.

  • @echostaffel
    @echostaffel13 жыл бұрын

    @echostaffel Written music is in my opinion the best way, because it contains everything. But if you don't need every part, you can use other methods as well (e.g. your great charts!). For me it was always important to know what I'm doing while playing guitar. I never wanted to press down a string at a SPECIFIC dot.To sum it up, I think this guitar might really help stundents at the beginning. But it's just a help and doesn't replace practising! Later u should walk alone without crutches! Greets

    NOTICE VERY IMPORTANT WISH! Please please please, make an new or updated video tutorial showing how to use Guitar Pro 7 software, to light up the LED Fretboard to practice, learn, and play songs on my Fretlight Guitar. You are my Guitar Sage / Hero, thank you and if you are able to make this tutorial. I’ll gladly make a donation to you, or your channel or favorite charity if you’d please make this happen. Fretlight hasn’t updated their new songs since June 2018, this would open up thousands if not millions of songs if I could only learn how to use this Guitar Pro software tab feature on my Fretlight guitar. @cladouce People should realize NOT all brains are the same. Many people learn differently then others. This is strictly information. Why be afraid of info. I cant watch somebody play a guitar and relate it to MY hands, charts also confuse me. The info gets jumbled in my head. I CAN follow dots and memorize scales . Same outcome different method. Many dyslexics and others need different tools to learn. Get outside the box. Feel and bends are easy for me. Its the patterns.

Second, you dont have to know how to read all kinds of music sheets to play the guitar. If you are going to post a comment on how stupid you think this guitar is please dont use phrases like "most easiest" it makes you sound like an idiot. Also stop trying to make yourselves sound like amazing guitar teachers....if you are so awesome why are you watching his videos?

    I don't think the dots will help with learning. Imagine this, you give the guitar to someone who has very little knowledge about scales and music in general to make him practice. He could become as fast as petrucci or malmsteen or any other guitarrist, but if you give him a "normal" guitar, he would be kinda lost. That is what I (myself) think.

There's something to be said about making mistakes, sounds and tones will teach you more than learning, video game style, how to touch a series of red dots. Watching your expressions, your bends, your "feel", no way a bunch of red dots can substitute for that. Learn by ear!

    @yourguitarsage In my opinion reading music is the most easiest way to play guitar. Your charts might be very useful for chord progressions and rhythm guitarists, but if you want to play lead guitar with melodies and solos, written music is just the easiest way. And fuck off tabs, an allround guitarist should know every single note on his fretboard! For those it's even unnecessary to use such technology. In my opinion this really might help beginners but u should learn acting without it!
