I got accepted into Madison recently and I was SO scared of how id make friends, picking my dorm and I felt worse without having any tours bc. of corna. i'm honestly so glad you made this. I feel like a weight is lifted off my shoulder and this vid made me feel a LOT better about going in the fall.

This video is lowkey pretty accurate except Leopold is actually the newest dorm in lakeshore and I would highlyyyy recommend, dejope is also very good but far away. I know both of these are coed floors so you’re able to make a ton of friends. I just wanted to comment that I lived in Chadbourne this past year, and I really loved it. It was mostly freshman... there were hardly any upper classmen!! It’s close to so many things because it’s in the middle of campus and has great benefits because it’s a living and learning community, which gives you an opportunity to make lots of friends :) the main con is that the rooms are the smallest out of all of the dorms... everything else was pretty spot on!

My son committed to CS at UWM starting Fall 2023. This was a really helpful video. Thanks! I noted no one talks about campus transportation. Do they have any buses that connect dorms and classrooms, especially the ones that seem a little further away from campus. When I went to Umich, it was hard to go 2 minutes without seeing a giant Michigan Blue bus filled to the brim with students. Really hoping UWM is similar.

  • @laureniverson956

I just want to say as someone who lived in smith that the dorm can be VERY social as long as you actually meet the people on the floor. Also, at least this past year, we did have keys. Something else that is nice about smith is that there are bus stops pretty close to it so if you're trying to get downtown, it's not that hard. It really isn't that bad of a walk if your classes don't go much farther than over bascom but if you have to go more towards lakeshore, that can be quite a hike. Smith also has walk in closets and an adjustable AC as well as some rooms have their own bathroom. Also, bathrooms are only shared with a few rooms so you definitely have more privacy. Smith is overall really nice and I do recommend. Also, if you do get put in a triple, it's even more fun and comes with two mini fridges.

I'm going into my senior year and considering applying to/attending madison, but I do have a few concerns. 1. I'm not really into football games or partying. I'd probably like parties/clubs but not every single weekend, would it be hard to make friends because of this? and 2. Based on some videos I've seen the campus is pretty urban and it seems kind of loud I guess? Does it feel like you're on a college campus or just that you're in the middle of a city with a bunch of cars and traffic? I know it's an urban campus and I've been to the U of M campus a few times which is also urban but that one didn't seem too much like it was in the middle of the street and it still felt like there was a campus space to some degree.

Honestly I think you'll be ok :) a lot of people think that its the end of the world when you don't get your first pick in dorms but with the pandemic going on, I think its actually really great for you that its a small dorm! You meet most of your people at events/clubs/classes anyways so that's the best way to build your social circle; plus there's always greek life if you're really concerned about it!

Hi! I personally live in one of the major apartments over by state street and I enjoy it a lot. I feel like it's a good location not too far from classes, but in terms of location Lucky is definitely one of the best. However all the major apartments are quite a hefty price point and so lots of students end up doing smaller houses or apartments instead.

College is really stressful and I figured out this year that no matter how it looks on other people's social media, most people don't find a true group freshman year. The best way to make "real" friends is by talking to as many people as you can (through social media before school starts, your dorm, CLUBS) and you'll find at least a few people that really click with you! Also, the social life is so popular on campus that it is extremely easy to find people to go out with :)
