Are you sure this is the real truth about the fresher's welcome at the universities in Sri Lanka.You are giving a totally wrong message to the world. I have my own experience not as a student but as a lecturer in the Colombo Medical faculty, this film is far from the reality.

I completely agree with you sir. I was in Colombo university for about 2 months then I actually went abroad for studies. For that two months, what I experienced was nothing but ragging new students for pure pleasure of second year students. I remember how I was so scared of begin caught to so-called "JESHTA UTHTHAMAYO" and get blamed in harsh words for absolutely no good reason. Not to mention that there were some freshmans who liked rag season, but ragging all freshmans for pure plessure is so wrong. None of these fancy, corny videos reveal the dark side of universities.

Medical Faculty in Colombo University does not have any sort of ragging sir... It has been that way for many years sir.. :) If you consider seniors smiling at juniors as ragging then yes there is ragging.. Other than that I dont think the two batches even interact much in med fac UOC... and this is the truth about the freshers welcome sir.all the students in this video are 1st years at the time and the video was done by 2nd years. Cheers sir :)

You left after 2 months?? I feel for you Mr. John...you just missed the best time of your life.... Im not supporting rag.. I dont.. but maan the final days of the "thela" period was the best..The dump funny stuff we did r still wat we talk abt when v get together..n no faculty in colombo has that jesta uththamayo thing, that is just straight liein Mr.John. I kindly request you to not to bad mouth Sri Lankan Uniz because you just know nothing about Sri Lankan uniz to be honest Mr.John.. Just go n meet your batch mates now and see for yourself. No hard feelings..Cheers!! :)

Dude, I was there and I don't remember a single day they smiled at us. But if you meant ranting in harsh words, yes everyday. I'm speaking from my personal experience and you absolutely can't deny that. Maybe you might have had a different experience in your faculty. That was not the case in out faculty whatsoever.

you have to state which faculty you were in. this video is abt FoS and in it, i do not think "JESHTA UTHTHAMAYO" is a related. even back in 2007-10 it was not there. the video however is kind of boring and i see it follows old templates that is not even close to a generic uni life :)
