FRESH WATER FISHING FOR AUSTRALIAN BASS!

Nice change of pace, wading down a river in the rainforest to catch an Australian native, the might Aussie Bass! Luckily no snakes this time haha.
Cheers as always guys, new GT series coming in real hot in the next couple days so stay tuned!

I appreciated this video because it looks a lot like the creeks and rivers I fish in northern usa (minus the deadly wildlife and plus a few more angry cows) and the smallmouth bass fishing is so much fun, such a good fight in current

I love all of the video you guys produce! So let me shed some light for my brethren here in the states as I have fished for Aus.Bass. (Old guys call 'em perch), as well as all of our species. I believe I can shed some light. It is a lot like hitting smallies in rivers here except the Aussie bass is more fierce pound for pound. They spawn in estuaries. My unproven theory is that any fish that lives in salt, even part time, is usually stronger pound for pound than it's freshwater counterpart. Think steelhead vs. rainbow trout. Technically same species...really a different animal. Same for impoundment striper vs. striper in surf or estuaries. These bass hit like school striper in salt, (sorry Southerners, not the mushy ones from lakes). They also get large...up to six lbs and can be a real handful in the confines of a small stream. Advice if you ever go down. DON'T pick 'em up by the gills. I still have a scar thirty years later. More advice: Go do it. Some of the best light tackle fun you can have.

What do you use when using small lures and why- loop knot, snap swivel/clip or tying straight on the lure? I personally like snap swivels as it saves time and line when it comes to changing the lure or if I want to change to a rig. I’ve had no issues running snaps just after your opinions, thoughts and reasons.

During summer I hear, I saw a fish at least 50 or 60 cm in a river near me, I got a good look at it since it was really close to the surface, sadly the fish was on an angle I couldn’t get a lure in front of it (and this was at a river I thought had like no fish, guess that’s why they have a chance to get so huge), also I have hooked a platypus before, it ate my bait luckily it popped off.
