Heh. I love it when the dog is in the videos. He/she is adorable.
I've owned this game for months. Now I can play it, thanks.
This looks very cool. Why isn't this more popular.

good question!
You did a great job on this review, Rahdo. Very clear and quicker than normal as well :-)
Thanks for showing me how to play my new game! Very helpful.
I doubt brown is, thematic, its just the mixing mechanic. Brown in real life requires a mixed of the three primary colours, yellow, red and blue. This is the same as mixing the three secondary colours, orange, purple and green. Love the size difference of cubes!

Yup, not really thematic I guess. If I remember right, blue was the most expensive paint color, it's still the most expensive paint to buy. The direction they chose makes more sense for the mechanism though, rather than having a different paint cost, it's based off of what is required to mix, which also makes sense with the paint cubes getting bigger as you mix them. Makes sense I think.
Just looked it up. "Thaler" is pronounced like 'taller' (e.g. I'm taller than you). It is where the word Dollar would eventually derive from.
Brown is the most valuable because back then you need a lot of paint to mix it and it was the hardest color to mix.

yes, i recently played fresco at a boardgame convention and someone walked by and explained in great detail the issues around mixing brown (apparently it comes out closer to black without the right skills and components)? fascinating, and it means i've been been a fool for making this joke for so long! :)
Leonardo's meeple should move to a fresh space with bishop

Sparked an interesting discussion with my wife (an artist) about colour theory, peaked her interest enough to get an order in. Keep up the good work!
He said "just the tiny bit of tasteful nudity" lol, great video.
During the studio phase, around 29:00 , even though both portraits were taken, Jen could still have gotten 3 thalers if she had chosen to use an apprentice for that action.
seems like this would be a really short 4-player game turn-wise, if not time-wise. is anything different besides the expanded market in a 4-player game? looks like it would be the same 25 tiles for the Fresco, so each player would only be able to get about 5 tiles (taking into account the endgame trigger of 6 tiles remaining on the board). I think you mention playing with your in-laws so maybe you could speak to how brief, or not, the game is with 3 or 4?
Looks like it has some similar mechanics to Dungeon Petz
Looks like you've used the 4 player side of the board in this video, which affects the number of wake up slots and buying costs.

yeah, i was an idiot. i believe i did mention that in the error annotations of the vid, though you wouldn't see that unless you were watching in a browser!
Eric Kaun wrote about similarity to Viticulture. I would say this game served as an inspiration for the Last Will by Vladimír Suchý. Very similar mechanics. What do you think about that?

hmm, not sure i see the connection :)

Well, just because of one thing but most important I think. You deside whan your helpers will start and it influences their mood, number of colour sets etc. In Last will you decide how many actions you can do, how many "hats" you can place etc.
Hi Richard, I know I'm late to the party here but I was reading the rules today (just got the big box) and I think I found a mistake. I think it was in this video you said that the bishop could only move vertically or horizontally. According to the moving the bishop section of the rules it can move diagonally as well. I checked all of the videos and didn't see any comments on it.

Hi Matthew, could you please give me the timestamp so I can put the annotation? Thanks
Could Jen tell us her Top 10 - maybe you can post them on BGG. I would love a women's perspective.
Fresco reminds me of Viticulture - how do you rank them?

hmm debating getting the bigbox, on KS now.
Would you choose this game over istanbul? I´m from South America, so i´m trying to decide between the two. Shipping is SUPER EXPENSIVE

i would always choose fresco myself. only reason not to is if you're going to play it 2p and you dislike dummy players :)

@@rahdo I´m gonna play two players. But I tend to enjoy dummy players!! Thanks a lot for the reply! You´re a great person :)
You are playing on the wrong side of the game board, unless you have a different version of the game. Yes, you blocked the 4th market, but the "getting up in the morning" track is scaled down differently on the other side.

You're playing 2 players on the 4 players side of the board.

First!
Damn it Richard, these videos annoy me... you need more doggies in your videos. :P (Great video, interesting mechanisms!)
very badly done. Please split this game and in the first focus only on the basic game. This is so confusing..
