Plus_que parfait is the past perfect, imparfait is past continuous, passè composé is past simple and passé récent is present perfect.

Thanks, I'm a Finn with a lot of English studying under my skin, with a decent Swedish basic knowledge. I picked up Français last year, and I find it to be quite easy for me to learn, but some of the grammar is difficult, although it makes sense! I'm glad I was lucky enough to have these things taught in my mother tongue back in high school. Thanks for the help, I shall subscribe!

Je joue au foot mais il y a quelques jours je viens de jouer au foot accompagnant avec mes amis dans un champ mais un de nos ami gravement y blessé. On y arrêtait de jouer en plus quelques semaines après on y avait revenu à jouer au foot et on avait bien joué avec nos collègues. C'était un air de réfléchir pour nos.

Questions: 1) What about "prétérit" and "passé simple". 2) Can you use passé composé in place of passé simple? 3) What's the equivalent tense to the present perfect in English? Present perfect is for an action that lasts to the present but passé composé is not the same. You said passé composé is for an action that ended already. 4) Is "j'étais en train de laver" the same as "Je lavais"? Thanks

J’ai joué is pronounced with an accent in the e. so, the conjugated verb, joue has only one syllable while joué has two syllables.

@@AlmazovS “J’ai” is a elision between the subject/pronoun & conjugated verb. [Je + Avoir] > [J’ + ai] > [I + Have]. Je is pronounced “ju” in a way that sounds like you’re gonna say the English word “Jug” but obviously omitting the g. J’ai is pronounced more like “jeh” or “jay”
