Basketball is a very secondary sport in France where you have football (soccer) far far above everything else Only several sport compete with football in france but during very short and specific time: - Tennis ... during Rolland Garros - Cycling ... during the Tour de France - Rugby during a world cup or an european national championship So this game in France was yesterday on a "free" and very small french channel So you can believe that the NBA have paid very very very low to get it too. So seems normal to me that they show it for free too ;)
