i really hope that the 4th AoE is gonna have the same feel as playing this 3rd. As you know its been given to saga so the art style may be different (more smooth and updated) which can either be its come-up or letdown.

When you finish with the nation review series, you could make card decks tutorials for different strategies for different civs. It's just an idea, loved your video

"Coureur de Bois" pronounciation: kuʁœʁ də bwa(koo-rur duh bwah) "eu" was hard to find the English counterpart. It's close to the schwa sound in English. "Cuirassier": kɥiʁasje(kwee-rah-see-yay) French "u" sound is quite hard for English speakers to pronounce :/

Yeah French pronounciation is a bit though, especially since the orthography can be very misleading due to our good amount of silent letters. Also our wide variety of nasal or guttural sounds. Even other native latin language speakers find the prononciation not intuitive. All my Italian friends keep telling me "why, why, why have you done this?" "Actually we have no idea ^^" The orthography is basically a trap 😅.

One thing I notice with the French is that they're very card-reliant. If the map doesn't have a trade route, you're in trouble and will have to brute force it. The good news is the coer du bois is great for getting that brute force all in a row. Terrible for rushing, great for late game.

I remember the Cuirassier starting out broken, then getting nerfed, then being broken again

That Thoroughbred card should not exist. At minimum, it should be two cards. But neither of those benefits should exist, since they break the balance of an expensive but powerful unit. You should not be able to train what is arguably the most powerful unit in the game instantly. The fact that the entire dev team thought that was a good idea is unreal.

I can be okay with the existence of the cuirassier, i would say it has more HP than i would like (maybe 1000 would be better), but i'm okay with it... But to make one of the most bulky units in the game cheaper and more spamable than the weakest unit it's just insane. It's okay ti make a strong unit but to take away all the cons to being powerful that's just unfair.

But to train cuirassier instantly, in addition to Throughbreed card, you have to at least send or purchase another two upgrades: cav train points from HC and mass cavalry from the church. I wouldn't bring both cards if I played as France. Other cards are more interesting to put at my deck that is limited to 25, than cav train time and Througbreed. And if I need cuirassier en masse, I can have it by other means like training them from many stables, or forts, or galleon.

Hey man, some people say that Japanese are more powerful than the French. But how? You can wipe out everything with cuirassiers. They are just OP. Also samurai rev please tell us a way how to counter cuirassiers.

Best way to counter them is with war wagons. I think some people say Japan is better because of dynamos, stack of 10 training, wonder perks, shrines, and stuff like that. I think it is a choice of preference!

how to counter cuirassiers: make musketeers (preferably british redcoats). put them in stagger mode to negate the splash damage. a couple of rockets in the mix will add in some serious damage too. War wagons are fantastic and so are skull knights, fully upgraded russian cav archers, samarai, ronin, or portuguese dragoons

@@SamuraiRevolution i think you mean daimyos lol. Also I think Spanish pikemen or rodeleros do fairly well against cuirassiers. Cuirassiers can still beat them though because they are just so incredibly op

The cav is Filly upgraded Just slamming trough everything, even dragoons get slaughterd if they stand to near to each other

I haven't check them very much, but you can use puma lancer + eagle runner combo that should do, i just have to confirm you if it's better that combo, or only puma or only eagle runner. But if you have time to create skull knights, that unit just wreck cuirassiers.

"Better with time" this is true for AI too so I always choke napoleon ( no offense to french ppl ) before he gets powerful

Having a nation too strong in certain phase of game is, in my opinion, bad design, especially when Treaty game mode is played quite often.

Right. The "early" game really only counts for 10-15 minutes of play. If you don't disable French before this time, you have already lost. In high level play, this is quite possible. But the vast majority of the playerbase is LT or lower, and will struggle to disable French's eco when their villagers are so strong. French is slow to start because of production times, but they're not weak early game. Their villagers work faster and are harder to kill.

TL:DW Cuirassier are op? The French look like a great late-game choice, but imo they can get destroyed early by a few well-thought cavalry raids.

If the French player just has villies out in middle with no protection (ie, super low level player), sure. But most players are smart enough to herd or build a tower. You'll be lucky to get one or two villies before they're all safely inside. You'd need to raid constantly to keep them off of hunts and they'll probably have military units waiting for after the second raid attempt, meaning you will get nothing done or lose your cavalry.

Can we have subtile ? I am French I better read english to listent it

Yeah, it's just unfair. If you say that they have near-invincible cav, well, that's okay, but to have the best economy, the best military pop, the best skirm, the best heavy cav, the best relation with the natives, Explorer advantages and inmortal vills it's just nonsense. I'm glad the germans and the japanese wreck then hahaha (and a few more civs can beat them as well)

Yeah they do, they do x1.75 against cav; with 79.0625 atk and splash damage... Samurai really wreck them, even in equal numbers, wich it's not likely because cuirassier takes 3 pop
