    I recognize this on such a personal level! I'm intensely studying French (as a Dutch person) as well, just like you. I'm going to a language school in Paris in about 2 weeks, and they put me in level A1+, and I personally don't even feel like I'm on that level, so here I am, trying to improve my French before I'm going there. Good luck on your progress!

    yes, elles/ils is gender based. elles is used for when there are mostly females in the group, and ils is used for when there are mostly males in the group (or the same amount of males and females). hope this helps :)

    Elles is used when it is a group of women. If it is a group of men or a mixed group then Ils is used. 🙆
