The rice pudding is from the brand Mont Blanc, it's the high end of industrial dairy desserts you can find on the supermarkets stalls in France. Same for the liver pate, from the Brand Maison Larzul, btw.

When cooking these type tins like the lasgne. I tend to start them upside down for a few mins giving it chance to warm on top then I don't get the base burnt which was always a problem. easy to break the seal once heated a little . keep up the good work stay safe ...
I had one of these French ration lesagne while I was serving in Kosovo in 2002.. The best one I have ever had.

Andy, you forgot to lick off the inner surface of the pudding can lid.
Hint: The tool is foldable as well, so you'll have two hooks in parallel for your meal to hold it. The flap is supposed to fold downwards. And with that you'll have a pot holder a bit like them from Trangia or the like.

@@ImTcheck you can find the lasagna in a plastic packaging in some shops in france (i found it at metro, i think it's the same). afaik all the french MRE items are made by a company that already sells the same to the public, but they adapt the products for extended shelflife.
If you noticed, the coffee is "fair trade", the current project of the french army is to get the MRE, organic and as much fair trade as possible.

Let's get this out onto a tiny folding table, nice!
The lasagna is one of my favourite rations.
The Z in riz au lait is silent. So more like "ree oh lay" Good review. Made me hungry again tbh.
Well, it was a certain French general who said "An army marches on it's stomach."
The fruit paste is a classic in France when you go for a long walk. Generally, the french MRE contents are provided by well known brand and must have both excellent dietetic properties and taste or they will face very angry french soldiers who are, I must report, armed people ^^
Thanks Andy. I live in an urban area and am shielding. Although I have a wee garden, it's not the same as getting into the great outdoors, so it's very comforting to watch your videos and look forward to when I can get out bushcrafting properly again.
Him: wow thats a sturdy bag I can throw things away with this. Me: bro you poop in the bag 🤦♂️
Great to see you back out in the woods and that looked a tasty meal 👍
Thanks Andy, that was a superb video, especially now at this i time! Absolute God send. Cheers mate, glad your still rocking it!
The French rations are amazing, much more apertizing than the British non discript orange meat rations. Can't beat the brew kit though 😁
Our MRE are greatly appreciate around armies, I've seen soldier urging us to sell them our MRE back in the days, good old time when shit were simplier ! :)
Andy: Awesome video.. I sometimes take MREs camping for the first night, and reviews like yours really help out, so as not to pick a yucky one😝.. Thanks for sharing👍👍
Too cool! I've never seen a ration box like that! Wow! Thanks for the video!
Nice review Andy. Thanks for taking us along
The lifting tool works a lot better if you bend it just a little bit and if you would put the lasagna tin on the esbit flame upside down for a couple of minutes you'll get it heated up on the top so then when you flip it over you just need a couple of minutes on the bottom and you won't get the burned spot
i was just watching the trapped bug in the desert section XD
Cool review! I like the outdoor setting, its very tranquil. You got me in the mood for lasagnier! 😄
Aww great to see you out and about x Meal looks brill
God damn it, I miss the outdoors so much! I guess this is better than nothing, thx for the vid.
I had this one training with the French a couple years back. We traded our MREs with them and this one was really good! But man that little fire-starting cube can be a pain to get going in 100% humidity on the equator.
I absolutely enjoyed watching your video. You completely finished the ration, while describing the taste and texture of pate , lasagna etc . Great job !
I'm new on your channel and so far the content is amazing I love the videos this type of thing I'm really interested in thanks for sharing your MRE experience with us

that lasagna looks yummy. great ration..another one i'd love to try. thanks for sharing
Hi Andy.Glad to see that you got out in that beautiful woodland.Love that tray.Really like pate also.Stay safe.from Maggie from New York❤️🙏👍👵
Damn those french knows how keep their soldiers with the highest morale
I gotta say i've had a couple of French rations and they've been lovely, compared to the American, British and a Polish one i've tried. Just really nice food imo, plus the things like chocolate and jelly bars are really nice too!
That looked lovely. Might try a French ration pack now. Thanks for the video

So you mean you don't have relations with French culture/language at all where you are?
I recall when I was a boy during the 80's and a Civil Air Patrol cadet; we were training and sampling rations. Our commander had to confiscate the cigarettes that were contained therein. lol
You should try a Dutch Army ration. All the stuff in there is store-bought top-shelf products you buy in local grocery stores. Nothing offbrand even.
Great video Andy we want more more keep the good work up

Now le'ts get this onto a tray. Nice....wait where am I?
never fails, these videos make me hungry!
Hi Andy man the French have got a good one there looks like a proper meal. Thank you for sharing the woodland looks nice.stay healthy.
I've found that putting those tins in some boiled water to heat them up is preferable to cooking them over an open flame. For one, you don't even have to open them, and for two they won't burn. It also heats them up quite quickly and you're probably going to be boiling water for coffee or tea anyway if you're allowed to use the esbit stove.
I'm glad we've got you to eat these things, so I don't have to. Have admit, if I was on a 'French patrol' I'd be swapping the Lasagne for the coffee and chocolate, maybe the odd rice pudding too.

Nice review. Now I'm starving. :) Love your channel Andy. Wish you the very best.
Dude! I like so much your videos, you're awesome!
French rations definitely sit at the top table of MREs. Personally I prefer the Russian ones, as they lean more towards savoury rather than sweet when it comes to the extra stuff, but there's no disputing the quality of the French rations, particularly when it comes to the mains and entrees.
Nice! I happen to love lasagna.. I would eat that. Thanks for the video
Best looking ration I've seen.
honestly that fruit bar looks amazing I want one
The Legion boys in Chad and Niger/Niamey have small bottles of red wine with their patrol rations, always blew me away. The pot holder folds mate and the handle bends back, sturdy little holder when moulded right, also the French boys don't crack their tins, they flip then until they swell and then crack them for the final few minutes, not that it matters, tin only caught a wee bit by the looks of it. Great review and scoff.
That looked delicious!
Let's get them on the tray. Nice.
That lasagna looked good! Great review.

I think you're supposed to bend the lifting tool too so it grabs it in two places to stop it twisting
Very nice ration, not something we see often here in Canada. Lasagna would certainly be a very pleasant hot lunch on a cool or cold patrol. Lovely review and I’m looking forward to another from you. Stay well and be safe. Peace.

Can I say... NICE? Joking aside, the French make the best military rations.
Fabulous review! 😉🇨🇦
It also looked to me that the can holder should be folded which would stop the can flopping about. Thanks for posting and stay safe.
Seriously looks like the French still make the yummiest looking MREs. Need to check out some of your other vids
Hi Andy, cracking review as usual. A tasty looking selection of grub too...👍. Just a wee tip if it helps the cooking of tinned goods for you, heat the tin unopened in a zebra pot of boiling water. Pouring some cold water over the heated tin will reduce the pressure build up and cover the lid with a cloth as you crack the seal on the lid open. I can't help myself sometimes....I used to be a cook..😀 Cheers
That looks a lot great! Much better than most of the American ones I see. I like that it’s all in metal tins as opposed to the plastic pouches. Cooking in plastic is just so unappealing.
