​​@@DefNotCrissyou're wrong. The Legion still does recruit former criminals. They just don't recruit the most dangerous of them such as murderers, drug traffickers or rapists. I was in Foreign Legion last year and lots of them were former criminals.

​@GT21st Yeah, you're right 100%. French Legion checks everyone with Interpol and through their own and also French contr-intelegence. As you said they take small thugs but not serious criminals. No murderers, no drug trafficers, not rapists, no all kinda perverts, terrorists or spies.

The FFL clears your past, as long as you’ve never been involved in drugs, blood crimes, and any harm on children. They even give you a new identity.

Yes, they give you a new identity, and sign your life to the French military, however I don't know about the family part.
