JD, the next time you pull off a P4 interior door trim panel (like maybe for a glass or latch repair), would you film the removal process? Getting behind the door is something some folks do to upgrade/replace the door speakers, etc. And you know how trim is - lots of little plastic fasteners, and there's always a trick to it. I know it's not as manly a job as something engine-related, but I haven't seen anyone else do it yet, and I'm betting you do it once in a while...

Hey there, I’m a subscriber and I enjoy watching your content. By any chance do you have a video on how to go about repairing a common issue with Cascadias that have a DT12 transmission where the RPM’s flare up out of no where when shifting through gears? Is there something internally and mechanically wrong with the transmission or is it a simple part that needs to be replaced from the exterior? Any advice would help at least with knowing the name of the part that needs replacement and location of where it’s at if it’s an exterior part. Thanks!

Thanks for watching and out. I don’t have much on the trans side of things as I don’t do much work on those anymore. I like to call it, moved up.. but with the dt12 it’s very common to have the rpm flare ups. All the components to the trans are made internally so they don’t make things easy to replace like it used to be. Unfortunately you would need diag software to be able to test all the trans components and for that flare up it’s usually a split pin bushing on the rail that fails not allowing it to shift properly. Sadly it’s a known issue and dealers cornerd the market with making specialty tools for it. Hope that helps some.

Always appreciate that positive feedback man. To flush the cooling system drain the radiator and drain the block from the nipple on the driver side Midway. Add a bottle of restore cooling system cleaner and the rest water till the systems full. Than run hot till thermostat openes up. Than flush with just water same way. Than fill will coolant when water looks clear and the issue was resolved.

Good question man. I would look at my page and check out one of the earlier videos. I know I went into detail on maybe my first 10 vids. But that is a good idea , il do a vid on just the removal and install of a bumper. I have found that sometimes switches are there and no wiring is there. So before anything I’d look around for wiring first. If not it may complicate things a bit

Great question and more than likely you issue comes down to a few senerios. Radiator is plugged with debris and needs a blow/wash out. Coolant pump is worn and not keeping up. Or fan is slipping and not engulfing properly. One of those is more than likely your issue.

Great question. At 220ish the fan turns on and should drop temps. I would want to ensure the fan comes on and when it does I would want to know how good the flow is through the cooling package. Such as putting a large piece of cardboard on the grill when the fan is on and seeing if it holds. That’s where I’d start.

Thanks for reaching out. The two most common points of oil loss by thermostat are the oil pressure sensor and the oil coolant module mounting gasket. I would say clean it off , run a regen and you’ll most likely find your issue right away.
