    Hi Brother, my radiator on a 2016 freightliner cascadia broke today and I was watching your video to replace it and at the end you mentioned that we must do a pressure test. How can I do that? Thanks for the video , it is very helpful

  • @bustedknucklebydieseldr3228

    @bustedknucklebydieseldr3228

    Thanks for watching and reaching out. The pressure test I was talking about was with a cooling system pressure tester. An attachment to the coolant reservoir to put the system under pressure. Works best as you can regulate the amount of pressure needed for certain leaks. If that’s not feasible than a regen will certainly build up system pressure to.

    Nice camera work with this one. Not too far not too close. Just right. I plan to be a mobile mechanic, so for this job I have 2 questions., would it be smart and possible to use some sort of engine hoist to remove the radiator and the actual hood? For draining the coolant, is there any tricks to draining it without spills?

  • @bustedknucklebydieseldr3228

    @bustedknucklebydieseldr3228

    Thanks for watching and reaching out. You gta get creative for the hoods. We use cherry pickers with a chain, forklift with a chain,and the old three people carry off method. As for draining the coolant if you mean from the radiator it shouldn’t be making a mess if you have a container directly under that drain plug. If you mean from the block I use a hose on that outlet nipple to a container.

  • @theserialentrepreneur3071

    @@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 I'm not sure if my banjo bolt or the union is leaking. So I ordered both. Great question, and yes definitely purge all air out of the cooling system. If not the weak link in the systems could be compromised. Most likely the EGR coolers. Cummins is most susceptible to those failures due to air in the system. Congrats on the side work. Hope it pays off.

So they’ll always find the weakest point of exist. I’m doing 3 radiators back to back as we speak. And yes they are crazy $$$.
