Freightliner claims their New Generation Argosy is the only COE truck in Australia that gives you the complete package. The choice of either Detroit Diesel DD15, DD16 or Cummins ISX and Signature power plants, a massive 1,650 square inches of cooling to deliver more capacity and efficiency, eRail technology which increases the durability by cleverly keeping electrical harnesses away from critical engine components, the safety of swing-out steps and the comfort of a truly spacious cabin which ensures you can stay more productive for longer.
Of course, safety is always a priority. Built from heavy duty aluminium with a semi-monocoque safety cell design, Argosy's cabins are lightweight but strong, easily achieving the strict european eCe-r29 safety standard. With up to 6'7" of headroom and a completely flat floor, the Argosy's cabins are truly walk-through, and once you sit down the new ezyrider ii air suspended seats offer comfort and lumbar support across an array of positions.

    The best, smartest and engineering with operator safety I have ever seen. It would be my first choice in purchasing a truck. Shame other manufacturers haven’t come to the party yet. At least not quite like that. Thanks for the video.

    When the steps are not in front of the tyre like all European and Asian trucks, the US manufacturers think of complicated entrance mechanisms instead of following the easy way

    This is literally the only US truck that does this. I have a bad knee and shoulder so I can see how this would be good for trucks who have a harder time getting in and out. Of course our long-nosed trucks are easier to get in and out of then your cabovers are anyway.

    Its regulations. US trucks cant have much weight on front axle. All european trucks have cab tilted forward, steps are between the bumper and front axle.

    The trouble is not many Argosy steps work after a few years. I have 3 of them and they all have step problems.

    phillip james maybe if you hit another truck head on probably but an accident severe enough to kill you in a cabover semi, will probably kill you in the conventional. In a conventional cab the engine could be jammed into the cab.

    Why Aussie truckers like cabovers is beyond my comprehension. Australia is a wide open country with open roads. The advantage of a cabover vs. a conventional in Australia is beyond my comprehension

    Because there are no real disadvantages any more. -Modern suspension allows them to be just as comfortable & quiet on the road. The Euro companies have been pioneering this for years, most of them are surpassing the American trucks now simply due to the amount they invest in suspension tech -Modern mechanics mean the cab needs tipped far less often -Modern tipping systems mean accessing the engine bay is no more pain than popping a bonnet -Better packaging and high roofs actually allow for more living space within same wheelbase (see: Scania Longline), although most operators go for shorter wheelbases with similar living space to a longnose. -Better all around visibility with modern blindspot cameras and mirrors Really the only advantage the long noses still have is the inheirent stability given to it by its long wheelbase but even that is becoming less of an advantage as suspensions get better. It's not just Australia either, Russia and the Asiatics which historically had a split of longnoses and cabovers are going almost all cabovers nowadays. Some Canadian operators are trialing Volvo cabovers with longer trailers, They are gaining prevelance in South America too. The only country in the world that seems to be still clawing on to the old style longnoses is the US.

    Donald Schneider Yeah that to, although I must admit I'm in one of the few industries in the EU that still utilises manuals as well as autos, I work in specialist power systems logistics, so a lot of soft road work where manuals excel. For long haul and multidrop you can't beat a modern auto though, stop and go through town, them semi auto triptronic on the highway.

    CAElite I was issued a new cascadia when I was at Swift last year. my ONLY gripe with the punamitacily (SP?) operating automated trans was when docking and hooking up there is more control with the clutch.

    Donald Schneider Ah, yeah that depends a lot on the box, I found that our older Scania GRS auto was a bit like that, it felt a lot like a car auto which, as you say, is a right pain well performing tight maneuvers. Although I also drive a DAF (EU PACCAR) which uses a ZF auto which is fantastic, I've heard the volvo I shift is good too. The only gripe our drivers have is the reluctance autos have to slipping when you need very slight control to maintain traction on gravel/ice.

    it is still a butt ugly truck -- notice how hard he has to slam the door -- Freightliner quality sucked 50 year's ago and still suck's and has shit re-sale value
