Freida is mesmerizingly beautiful. How her fellow countrymen cannot see it is baffling.

She is very very pretty. There is this vulnerability to her that makes her sparkle. I love it when normal looking girls, not bombshells or super sexy, make it into the films. You don't have to look like a supermodel to be beautiful!

I took a class in university with someone from India. She said that English is widely used since India has many different languages. It's useful as a common second language.

Actually a lot of schools are completely taught with English as a primary language, also different regions have differing accents, and she is from Mumbai, one of the largest cities in India and as the largest city and India's history of being connected to so many different regions and nations traveling through in its history combined, there are a lot of different influences on accents there.

Most of the schools in mumbai are english medium schools and thats the primary language . if you go to south of india, you will find that people have a strong indian accent whereas in Mumbai , people have a neutral accent as a lot of people from various backgrounds from all around the world come to Mumbai

for all those who are just thinking of North America she does not has a fake accent actually she tries to speak as properly as many can't she has major in English Literature and she's well educated. many out USA school are Bristish and usually you learn a language as you hear it I leaned English in USA so if I go to England and speak will I sound like I am trying to fake an American accent? lots of people hate when they can be successful . she is so be it. she worked hard for it.

@oolioann - lot of indians do not have strong accents and speak very clear english... they enhance it when they go abroad to make it more easily understandable. Freida is a part of the catholic community that comes out of Goa and Mangalore that have english as their first language. Many have strong accents, many dont...So please break out of your stereotypes.. She has had good english to begin with ... Yes she is enhancing it though but polishing the end words making it sound crisper.

@Crysaia no its not a british accent its the accent that english speaking indians have !! it does sound british but if you listen carefully you can really hear the indian. Trust me i'm from bombay, specifically the english speaking part....

she is 100% indian, just has a cahtloic surname because the portugese colonised her people. She is not a mix, indian women can be beautiful too, no need to be racial and assume her beauty must come from some latin connection. that like saying black women need to be mixed to be attractive

But if you see what she talked just before and after that sentence, it points to her refering to India. Before, she says India is not ready to take her seriously as an actress, and then later she says they have accepted her much more willingly than India.

being a great actor doesn't mean you need to be "good-looking", you need to know how to act, it has nothing to do with what you look like. Her accent isn't fake, english is her second language so naturally she would have an accent. If you were taught American English, then you will speak english in an American accent. India, was part of the Commonwealth, colonised by the British. Hence they were taught British English, with a British accent in order to pronounce the words correctly.

Also because of her role in Twilight where her character comes off as expression less. As for the ones calling her ugly. She is not ugly, maybe shes not extremely beautiful, but she is pretty.
