In this video I'll show you the simplest steps to freezing pears.
In our orchard, it’s end of the season for pears and we've got lots!
What I’m going to show you would work just as well for peaches, nectarines, apples, mangoes and so on . .
The finished product is clean slices of fruit, frozen and versatile to be spun off any way you choose!

I have a once dying pear tree that decided to start producing bumper crops the past two years. Last year I missed out on preserving them because I figured it would be too much work. You've corrected me thinking and I'll be harvesting tomorrow!

This is fantastic because I am traveling for Xmas and wondered what to do with the pears! Used lemon juice and water and a silicone mat. These pears will be great for smoothies when I return.

2 pear trees , you need cross pollination.
How long can they be stored in the freezer? And when thawed do they turn brown? Thanks!

Once they're frozen I try to turn them over annually. They go 3 ways at our place when thawed: pies, crisps, frying pan with butter as a topping. They brown when they cook (whether they've been frozen or they're used fresh) so I don't see any difference on appearance. It's the textures that's altered, b/c when it's pre-frozen it will soften up much quicker BUT still super tasty !
Don't you wash the pears before putting them in the lemon water?

If they needed to be washing I would. Organic fruit in a grass covered orchard. super clean! The only question for me is: when did it last rain? That gets any of the dust off.
