Thank you for this. My wife's diet is extremely limited due to allergies and sensitivities. She is about limited to eggs, corn, berries, almond milk and not a lot else. Using Corn Chex and strawberries with almond milk will fit the bill for her to have a fun treat. I'm always looking for new ways to remake the same old treats and this will hit the mark. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

PB2 is actually just peanut butter mixed with Tapioca maltodextrin, which is a starch that traps fats and is dissolves in water. It could actually help out a lot when freezedrying fats and its fairly inexpensive.

2 possible ideas for freeze dried peanut butter: 1) freeze dry the peanuts themselves or 2) when I buy pure kraft peanut butter, there is a layer of oil at the top --- what if you took this oil out and freeze dried just the peanut butter underneath? I wonder if there is a way to separate the oil even further?

When I was in the army we got what we called lurps. They were Vietnam long range reconnaissance meals. They were bare bones MREs. So one big entre like chilli etc, multiple coffee packs and a cereal bar. They were like frosted flakes you ran through a car compacter with some extra flavor (mostly fruit flavors if I remember correctly). The cereal bars were awesome!.id guess a bowl of cereal in the size of a granola bar.

Hi there. I’m just getting into freeze drying food. Last year I bought a pharmaceutical freeze drier for making hash. I seen you made a few things that burned on the bottom. (Think it was coffee. Can’t remember lol). I just bought a home unit shelve system which comes with the home unit software. I got that shelving unit so I had more head space on each rack to do food. With the pharmaceutical settings you can set your trays to not get so hot. It’s much more gentle as when making hash it is very delicate and heat sensitive. Just had me thinking maybe you can load pharmaceutical settings on your home unit. I would talk to harvest right. Some of your fails might be successful with the proper settings

Freeze dried milk comes out powdery. Ive FD'ed hundreds of trays of whole milk, 2%, 1%: its all powder when its done being freeze dried. Aside from your fruit, I'm not sure what else your putting in your cereal trays to keep it as "bars." I replicated your cheerios/fruit/milk experiment. The results were a powdery mess, not bars. Only pieces that held together were ones that had a banana piece in it. I'm really curious what else your adding.

I can only imagine that the milk breaks down the edges of the cereal pieces so that the gluten becomes more sticky thus allowing them to stick to each other. If you ever leave cereal in a bowl (no milk left) for a while then try to wash it, you'll know they're practically glued to the side of the bowl. I think that's what would happen here

Watching this video this morning got me going. I switched up the Special K for Honey Bunches of Oats and Honey nut cherrios adding strawberries bananas and blueberries just as Brian did in the video. Just in time what a great idea!!! I just put them in the freeze dryer can't wait to see the end product!
