myka 9 is a dude on another level in life, i think if he was business oriented, everyone in hip hop would know his name but i know myka 9 isn't like that and why he is so obscure, but he is seriously one of the most important figures in hip hop history and deserves way more recognition... all of freestyle fellowship deserves it

It’s been six years since this freestyle has been commented on. Allow me to say, this is one of the best examples of the craft. Every time I come across this, I’m left in awe.

Check out Harry Mack. He pays all proper homage to the great freestylers to come before him, but literally nobody is on Harry's level.

@@44dperez I know of harry mack, he is dope. That being said, I have heard him in an interview state, freestyle fellowship showed him that freestyles can be that good. Also, Myka 9, and harry Mack both site jazz improvisation as there influences. Which is why they can freestyle in double time as well as they can. Myka is also an amazing writer and has many albums that are next level. No rapper has his experience and no rapper has been fully active as long as him. He is a double triple OG in the rap game. He is on a level all his own.

@@klue507 they literally aren't even close to the level of skill Harry is at now. It isn't close. There are hundreds of hours of content from Harry to prove it. Seri9uso6. Y9u can't honestly watch Harry and think others are in yhe see league. Just because he was inspired by this person or that person doesn't mean they are better than him. Spoiler alert: they aren't.

yea mos def a ridiculous freestyle king right here i had the pleasure of meeting myka 9 at the 2006 rock the bells n hes one of the most down to earth cats i ve met, so much soo i think that particular time he was high as hell just enjoyin the vibes of the festival n i asked him 4 advice on how to make it as a true mc n get respect n stripes n all he said with a big smile was " always stay recording".

you can see him think of the words and style on the spot an actual genius

i can honestly say that this man saved my life, he tought me a new way to look at life, he gave me soo mutch inspiration, when i was going through some hard times his music pulled me out and to the surface and didint only brought my feet to the ground but made me fly with so mutch knowledge, inspiration and he is my favorite MC, i know one day hopefuly im going to meet him, and i hope he some how some where reads this and as myka 9 allways says "its all love"

theres a moment where he just takes off. not even in the room, he starts having an out of body experience. notice the rhythm in his voice, the gaze in his eyes. he's lost in his own mind, looking at himself flow. at the end he asks if he can go and starts grabbing his chest. he's spooked and what just happened, his spirit has returned to his body, he neess to step away from the mic before his spirit is lost forever

his look changed and idk how i feel about it but he seems to me the most 'free' out of the ff crew.

kids with their 15 second attention spans could never get this.. they decide what they like the second the first few words come out cuz they have a very narrow definition of whats dope, its all they know. freestyle is a lost art in hip hop but some still appreciate it for what it is. peace to those supporting real lyricists and hip hop lives on!

During an interview, Doseone called Myka 9 "the father of our styles. The Jimi Hendrix of rap." All of anticon was a continuation of the Good Life/Project Blowed tradition, which Myka was the heart of. Pedestrian, who co-founded & named Anticon, actually went to the good life when he was a kid & was inspired by rappers like myka & by the "music as community" mindset of the good life collective.

@rapsody its good to know theres still some real hip hop heads left out there, not just a bunch of kids brainwashed by money and bling by all these so called "rappers" like lil wayne,...etc. big ups to the entire freestyle fellowship....

Much respect to myka. There is no one better.

Myka 9 and Freestyle fellowship were top notch to battle .I remember they battled the Wu back in the day and you could tell they were sharp (Acey,destroyed half of wu with his verse alone), i had to give it to FF cause only Gza and kp could keep up . that aside in that traditional garb he looks and sounds like hes channeling some other world shit, I get a good laugh watching him. none the less this guy could destroy anyone in a cypher.
