Out of the guys in this video I've seen Aesop and immortal technique live, both were great. Poison pen was one of the hype men/side artists (among diabolic and others) with IT and PP was just shitfaced wiling out and stumbling around. He's a big dude too. Everyone seemed pretty pissed at him, I'm sure they were all at least buzzed but PP didn't hold it together well

As someone who was (for lack of a better term) active in my local "underground hip-hop" scene in my city in the late 90s/early 00s. That rhymed in cyphers with everyone from the MOST CORNIEST of corny white boy rappers....from the actual most thugged out.. and the most corniest of the most " thugged out".. and everything in between. The One superpower THE BACKPACKERS have . Is THESE FU" KERS will rap ... literally for hours outside or in the smoking lounge of any venue.. until they get kicked out. Which kinda gives them the upper hand in most battles and cyphers. And THE UPRISE of all of these dudes in the early 00s... Meaning... def jux..rhymesayers... anticon... Project blowed..living legends.. freestyle fellowship...etc. definitely conditioned alot of us all over THE US who were cutting our teeth during that time to do the same... And IDGAF what anyone has to say ...us EMCEES who came up in that era.. no matter what style of music or rhyming we had. ALL HAD ONE THING IN COMMON.... We always had a 16 on deck.. or could freestyle....on the drop of a dime. We Def different

I remember seeing Atmosphere in 1998. The show was so small it wasn’t on the stage. It was in the lobby. They used the stairs going up to the balcony as the stage. There were a lot of breakers so the linoleum floor in the lobby actually worked well for them. They were checking ID’s at the door. It was 18 and over and there were a bunch of kids outside bummed out. I found a door in the men’s bathroom that lead out to the alley, so I let as many kids in as I could. I bought a Dynospectrum album from the merch table.

Immortal technique really tapped into that level, any freestyler knows that god level where once you’re in it the gold just keeps going. I can’t front, in high school I could do some pretty dope shit off the top I don’t normally hype myself up but I really spent so much time practicing and freestyling with my friends and the one who was a rapper before me was so good it inspired me to get better. Unfortunately since everyone moved away after high school, I can’t even think of the last time I freestyled so I know I’d shit the bed if I was in this situation today haha. If I had a week or maybe even just a day to practice and get back into it I’d do okay, every now and then I’ll do it driving in my car and every now and then I’ll get that hint of skill where I’ll get a dope run of lines I wish I recorded haha. But free styling alone doesn’t really have the same energy, I took high school for granted tbh

Out of the guys in this video I've seen Aesop and immortal technique live, both were great. Poison pen was one of the hype men/side artists (among diabolic and others) with IT and PP was just shitfaced wiling out and stumbling around. He's a big dude too.

He ruined the cypher by turning it into his soapbox. No one was feeling it, either.
The fluidity of Aesop's freestyle is immense
lol wtf Tech you had one job to spit a fuckin freestyle and then outta nowhere you went into conspiracy mode like always

This is literally my teenage idols, Overcast, Fantastic Damage, Float..... Fucking classic albums that started the underground movement

cuda861 agreed, but lets be real elp and aesop killed him here
This is excellent. Aes' is a god, Slug is unbelievably good, and El-P has never changed in any way.
Love that Aseop is just floating around in the back while El P goes
This should be in the hall of fame.
Nobody in this cyph understands how epic this is.
slugs freestyle had me Rollin
Lmao Immortal Technique just came in and tore a hole through space and time. Everyone was dope though

Immortal Technique is the G.O.A.T. I was literally saying Aesop Rock and Immortal Technique on a track together would be the hardest shit, today I find this video of the two freestyling together. It's close enough
El-P n immortal technique were dope
one of those legendary small moments in history where no one knew what it was
"Rhymin is so simple. Look at my belly button, I got a stomach dimple." -- Poison Pen ... I had to pause so I could recompose myself xD

Sitting here smoking weed at 2am thinking of a rapper I know 2pac paid homage to but couldn't think of his name then found this video and forgot about it. Then slug spits his line about big daddy kane, epic! Thanks slug that's exactly who I was thinking of lol Epic video!! Glad someone captured this, Hell of a lineup
Aes Rizzle is ridiculous
Immortal Technique had that fire. Real flows from hip hop masters. Dope video, jus too bad the best flows happen when no ones there to record it, jus a cypher wit ur friends~
el p's a genius on casual one..legend
I just saw Atmosphere last month and Slug dropped one of the dopest, on the spot, fuckin beautiful freestyles ive ever heard in my life. Fuckin old man STILL has it.
Aesop the legendary king of change of tempo this man is so underrated give this man a listen yall worth your time
This is so legendary
Real emcees, real lyrical-ism, real legendary. Thank you ♥️
AES and EL killed it
When freestyle actually meant off the dome.
el-p has been killing rap since company flow man
This video belongs in a museum for future generations
Tech seems to have matured too much, lol

I fucking love this!!! Sooo dope. Imagine if Eyedea was there :O
Fuck a XXL cypher I'm waiting for a Rhymesayers Cypher with Ant DJing in the back. True heads.
Slug killed it clean
Absolutely EPIC and underrated moment of HipHop history in the making! Look at that lineup..! This will be in the rap museum, and made before the days when everyone had a camera in their pocket.
"Just as long as the Atmos goes home with somebody on my mattress" done.
so this is what slug sounds like on a freestyle without eyedea constantly interrupting lol
