FreeOK2 - Seth Andrews "Scrabble on the Space Station"
Seth was the keynote speaker at the 2012 Oklahoma Freethought Convention. His presentation takes an often humorous look at the claims of religion in the Age of Information.
This speech has been abridged from the "live" version for time and features a few extra visuals for the KZread audience. There's a brief drop-out of audio at the 45:30 mark, due to a loss of feed from the house sound system.

As a person who has struggled with abuse, depression, PTSD, and anxiety which led me to contemplate suicide I can tell you that I have never had more release from my symptoms and a better outlook on life than I have had coming out as an Atheist. It's made the world clearer, brighter, and a lot less frightening. When I was a Christian, I was so caught up in changing the world that I forgot to be a part of my own life. I love these videos and cannot thank you enough!
I live in Europe, if you listen to Seth it is almost unbelievable what happens in the U.S.A To all Atheists and Freethinkers in the U.S.A - keep going forward! Don't give up!

+xerox1959 We won't. I, for one feel a duty to the rest of the world to do this. I love my country, but I also know that we have built a terrifying military power (thanks mostly to the Christian right), and if this nation is allowed to go down the path of theocracy, or is even allowed to be dominated by the religious, the harm that the nation that I believe was founded upon the best principles so far documented by men, could be unimaginable. We in the USA owe too much to our brothers and sisters in the rest of the world to allow fanatics to do what they could do if we do not keep them in check.

+xerox1959 Don't worry. I've made it through over sixty years of resistance. Effortless, in my case. But thanks for the props.

Yeah, we are somehow going backwards. It is troubling... Our founding fathers had so much more sense than the people in charge here today. As absurd as it sounds, our secular government is NOT run by those with secular beliefs and ideals. It is nearly impossible for an atheist to get elected to public office, and even illegal in some places. There are public schools in this country to teach creationism in science classes. Ugh.... Never been so embarrassed for being from this country.

xerox1959 Thank You for the kindness and support!! Appreciate it & you. I'm in the south, Florida to be exact. Its "slower" down here, sometimes it feels as though it is going to take forever. The Magical-thinking runs deep, here & Seth tells it MILDLY!! 💟 -Fellow freethinker

All I can say about this youtube video, especially the short video at the end is. . . . .TRULY EPIC. Thank you for posting it.
Fantastic presentation, Seth! I salute you and your courage to tell it like it is. We love you. Don't ever stop.
Thank you Seth Andrews for this presentation. It is carefully crafted, humorous, thought provoking and touching. I am happy to know the mind of the thinking atheist.
Seth is always a breath of fresh air.
What an amazing and inspiring talk. I'm glad I was able to watch this.
An hour and 4 minutes of my life I'll never get back. An hour and 4 minutes of my life very well spent. THANKS
Seth never fails to enlighten, inspire, inform, entertain and move me. Awesome presentation Seth.
I just want to say thank you Seth and all the others involved in this great talk! Inspirational and just awesome! Thanks!
Seth is the BOMB! Great ambassador of free thought.
Seth, You do incredible work, and this talk was among your best. Thanks!
A superb talk, Seth, very informative and really funny and the walk down past technology lane evoked many memories, thank you. From an old fart Brit living in Spain to a damn fine son of America Rock on, brother. :-)
I know Nikki (Ms. VA) and she's actually a nuclear engineer. The way religion can make bright minds compartmentalize conflicting info is astounding
Wow! Thanks for the revisit, Seth. This is by far the best and most hilarious presentations ever. I'm re-watching all of your amazing and salvific vids with pure joy. Wish I could "like" them again. You're the tops!
Brilliant, as always. Thank you, Seth.

He’s really made me think
What a fascinating modern age we live in.
Seth, you are just amazing. I feel like a hopeless drooling fanboy, but I've got six years on you, supposedly that much more experience, etc., but when I look at the sheer accomplishments you've made in your life, the people you've moved, the lives you've changed, I feel underwhelmed with what I've accomplished. Yet, I feel hope for the future, and ambition, for changes for the better I might be able to affect on this world. Thanks, man. You're an inspiration.
I would just like to say Thankyou for reaching out and communicating.I have been an athiest for quite awhile. Most of my freinds and family are Christians of some sort, and although they tend to not try and change my views,my views obviously sadden them. This means I can rarely have a confortable conversation about religion or express my feelings. It's very refreshing to hear others with a similar perspective....THANK YOU

My family knows I'm skeptic and I require more than the usual, it's written in the bible. If I change so they can.
The mother's letter, and the movie at the end.... it touches my dark, nihilistic and misanthropic heart. So thank you.
I always look forward to seeing one of your presentations in my new video list, Seth. You are the man!
The video on the afterlife at the end brought tears to my eyes, hats off to you. Splendid work
Thank you the information. It really makes me think hard about any religion and where my life as a spiritual person is headed. BUT thank you EVER so much for making me feel OLD!!!
Once again, an excellent job Seth! I plan to share this ... often. Thank you and keep up the good work!!
Wow, that was a hreat speech and I plan to use it to abridge some conversations I have with my religious family and friends. Seth you really are one of the great advocates for Atheism participating in the discussion today. Thank you for all you do.
This entire presentation is nothing short of beautiful. Thank you Seth and anyone who was involved in creating it.
Thank you so much for sharing your talk.Just brilliant. The video at the end is simply beautiful and inspiring for me and opened up a crack of light to the depression I have been suffering recently. Thank you once again. x
I think I MAY have laughed too loudly at work from the statement about the scrambled playboy channel. I was SO there, as a kid. Best laugh I've had in a while. Thanks!
Amazing Seth! :'')
8 years later it is still relevant.
Everything here is brilliant. Since nobody else has mentioned it, Seth deserves extra props for minutes 10 through 20. Graduated in the late 90's but lived through all that bleeding edge stone age technology... including scrambled cable!
An hour well spent. When asked where my morals come from without religious guidance I just respond that being a good person is it's own reward.
What an awesome presentation. Well done Seth. This would have been amazing to listen to and watch live. You put a huge amount of thought, time and effort into this - very obviously so.
What a fantastic talk. Loved it! Thanks Seth!
Here I se myself starting the video over again. .. We need more people like Seth, we are all thankful to the people of sience, philosophy and history that can tell us the real, not religious edited version, of reality, but we are humans and needs people like Seth! Hello from Norway! Your work are empowering people all over to embrace nonbelief, we have a cultural feeling about shame and evil. New thoughts and understanding for the future of all humans.
My wife, who is kind of a clinging deist (she's still clinging to deism), absolutely loves watching your videos, and loves the humor you display in your presentations. In fact we have your other lectures downloaded and we watch them on a regular basis on our entertainment center -- imagine TTA on a 55" plasma screen! I know she is going to absolutely love this one as well. My cats might have a minor objection, though...
Thank you...keep up the great work!!
This was great presentation, not only because it was well argued, but because it was entertaining and humorous. Great job Seth!
This was great Seth thank you! Much love from Huntley Illinois ! :D
Outstanding Sir! Excellent material and a wonderful sense of humor during a great presentation. I have sent the link to all my friends.
Seth you are one of the best spokesman for the free thinking community. I Enjoyed this video so much!
Enjoyed so much your conference! Thank you for sharing it
The afterlife video is so moving... I am going to go watch it again.
Solid gold presentation in both content and delivery. I wish you all you wish for yourselves.
Loved the R G Ingersoll quote at the end of the presentation. Well worth checking out some of his speeches from a bygone era, .. as relevant today as they were then.
awesome as usual seth, looking forward to your podcast tonight. hopefully ill remember the time and catch it live.
The end video was amazing Seth giving me even more peace in my unbelief. ❤️❤️. Thank you 🙏🙏❤️❤️
wow i just saw the upload, cant believe i nearly missed it after last years freeok was that great...good speach seth, humorous as always, yet informative and inspiring...cant wait to see the other presentations
Haha! This is one of my favorites from you. You totally rocked it that night, Seth.
Fantastic speech- I've watched it several times since it was first posted.
the trip down memory lane, most of the stuff I had forgotten about.
Best video I've seen in a long time Seth! Absolute genius.
Heartwarming, funny, thought-provoking, truthful. This is one of the best things on KZread. Thank you, Seth!
A walk down memory lane thanks Seth .
Great video. There is so much great stuff here. I mean, can you imagine seeing anything like that on TV? I mean, on any subject, but with this level of intelligence, openness, and authenticity.
Love the humor. Informative and fun to watch.
Wow, great speech! Funny, informative, moving... simply awsome!
If there WAS a God, you would be a Godsend to my 2 sons and myself Seth. My oldest introduced me to your podcast recently plus I also retired and just got my 1st smartphone. Needless to say, I burned through all the past podcasts and am now hitting You Tube for my daily fixes. Hahaha! You are perfect for us who have recently come out of the church and I just wanted to say thanks and keep up the excellent work!!! I'm sure there are many, many people out there like my sons and myself.
This is an epic video. Seth is quite the orator. After watching this it is evident to me that the debate, such as it may have been - is now over.
Absolutely fantastic! You did an amazing job, Seth! This instantly jumps to the top of my most favorite youtube vids and lectures! Well done, Sir!

What an awesome presentation!
Great speech Seth, the letter from Alex Nunn's mother was powerful and incredible. Cheers
What an excellent presentation . Bravo Seth..
Really beautiful, well done!
Please accept my heartfelt condolences for the audio problems. I know how much you care about such things.
The end was very moving. Ill have to play your video at my own funeral, with your permission of course! Nice job Seth!
Cried like a baby at the end of this. Forever a free thinker. #goodwithoutgod
I know I'm late to the party but that speech was great.
Excellent presentation thanks Seth!
Honestly, honestly - this sixty minute presentation was as valuable a document as any that Hitchens, Dawkins, Harris or Dennett have ever made.
I absolutely love this video! When I hit 40 I began to consider my own mortality and for a while it scared the shit out of me. I believe it was Martin Luther King that longevity has it's place. Really that's all one can hope for is longevity. But that may become obsolete if there is no quality to that life. Seth Bravo!
This was absolutely fantastic. It's rare that I laugh so much, and come so close to crying so many times in such a powerful well presented honest hour long speech. it's obvious why you were the keynote speaker.
This video is absolutely brilliant! There should be a lot more viewers!!! Tell your friends -- send the link!!!
excelent presentation and that video at the end was extremely powerful and moving.
Brilliantly done! Thanks, Seth!
I enjoyed seeing AND hearing you this time. I mean, partly because you're a good lookin' fella (no disrespect to Natalie here) but also because I take information in better with visual + audio. Loved the podcast, as always. Thanks for the treat.
This was thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring. Thank you.
This is my very favorite podcast
Knocked that one out of the ballpark. Thank you for your work!!!
Great speech. Now.....if we could just get you on national TV/radio.
That letter written by the mother of the atheist son who died was really touching. I'm glad she let him share it.
Fracking awesome, Seth. Well Done! I laughed; I got goosebumps; I enjoyed it.
I really enjoy the talk, thanks. Take care, Ismael
"36-Channel 1984 remote with a 30-foot cord* Ya know to be honest, I only use like...3 channels even today. :P
I said it once ill say it again, Seth, Afterlife is an awesome video, you did a really great job
Not knocking it, it was a great presentation then and a great KZread edit now. Had lots of fun at FreeOK and look forward to new videos and podcasts from TheThinkingAtheist.
In an age when literally anyone can attend all the scientific conferences they can stand via KZread or other video service, we have probably as many flat Earthers as we had in 1600. Kinda shocking.
I think that this distills down what I see more than any video I have seen so far.
This guy is awesome keep it up Seth .
Great speech. Please consider me a new fan of this channel.
Absolutely excellent!
The letter from his mother was definitely a game changer
This video is more deserving than credit given.
I don't live in fear of death. Both of my parents are dead, my sister committed suicide 6 years ago, and my 3rd child died at birth. I am no stranger to death. We live, we die, we go on in the memories of those who loved us, and our children and grandchildren. I love my life, but I know it will end, and my life is not about waiting for the next one, but living this one, and doing the best I can while I am here.
Am I the only one who kinda slowly transitioned to atheism? Like, at first I was thinking, "okay evolution is true, but god did it!" then, "okay Jesus may not have existed but god definitely does!" And then "okay god could possibly maybe exist" and finally "okay I don't think any of this is real..."
Very good work as always Seth.
Great, thank you!
Seth does it again, bravo sir!
I love this guide, what every single one of his speeches are the same bits
