Freedom for Hoover the tiger after life spent in circus cage

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

UPDATE: Sadly, Hoover passed away on October 7, 2019. He had suffered ongoing health issues and earlier in the year squamous cell carcinoma was removed twice from one front leg. After Hoover was observed limping, the Big Cat Rescue vet found what looked to be bone cancer in his back leg, and severe arthritis throughout all of his joints. With Hoover already being given much pain medication, they made the difficult decision to let him go. We are thankful to them for giving Hoover the best care and environment he had been denied for all those years in the circus. His memory will live on, and his story never forgotten, helping others who are still suffering in circuses as Hoover and his cagemates did.
--------------------------------------------
The remarkable story of Hoover the tiger, saved by Animal Defenders International from a circus in Peru, where secretly filmed video shows him being trained with whips and sticks and living in small cage, and now living in natural woodland with his own pool, at Big Cat Rescue in Florida. @Mr. Goodbar Your cultural bullshit gives you no right to torture and treat animals in this fashion. It is done for money. Stop lying, stop pretending. Perhaps you should note that the people fighting the hardest to save Asian elephants from such cruelty, such as that seen in Thai logging ventures, which are horribly cruel, including intentional blinding, are Thais. Go give your speech to them. Your PC BS is cruel and racist.. A stupid excuse for ignoring this evil shite. The idea that no one of the incorrect colour or incorrect birth place may even have an opinion, sounds like PC racism. Just a bit full of yourself, aren't you Mr.shitebar? Yes, i am laughing at you and your Very western PC BS. You do not understand and likely do not know that people who are part of that culture are why Big Cat Rescue and ADI knew about Hoover and were able to do anything. You talk like a western SJW. Not impressive.

These animals should've AT LEAST had basic veterinary care, and the best food and environment possible...but once again, man believes these lives are replaceable. When it dies, go get another...this is one of many shames upon "humanity.

@@Trid2bnrml1, well, this will probably rarely -- if ever -- happen in a country where the standard of living is quite low for the general population. Apparently, in Peru there is a ban on keeping exotic animals for commercial purposes, or at least for these smaller commercial operations, but it seems there aren't enough wildlife officials to enforce the laws there, or in many other countries, as well. You can bet the circus owners don't charge a high entrance fee (because so few people could afford to attend), so they probably don't make much of a profit at all, and proper care of large wild cats (and other large animals that belong in their native wild territories, not in circuses or zoos!) would require expensive care. So glad this rescue operation exists and is doing as much as it can to locate and rescue these exotic animals that deserve to have large spaces in which to roam and enjoy a natural environment. Down with all animal circuses and businesses that keep and mistreat these majestic creatures that should be living in sanctuaries, at least and preferably in their natural habitats.

People who abuse animals are not "horrible monsters" in my humble opinion! To label them as such demonizes people who some of us perceive as a problem. But it is a "problem" that has existed since humans first began: the problem of cruel, controlling behaviour. Abusers of any form of life are simply human beings doing what they've learned and been allowed to continue.

I'm curious what your definition of a monster is then. Because my definition of a monster is a person who abuses either people or animals. We're talking about physical abuse, which is torture. People who get pleasure out of torturing another living creature is my exact definition of a monster and the prison cells are full of them. Doesn't matter where they've learned the behavior, what matters is that they choose to do it.

This is so tough ! On one hand I hate people, and the harm they are willing to cause to beautiful creatures for their own selfish reasons. Then, on the other hand, I love the people who rescue these amazing, beautiful creatures. It warms my heart. Warms my heart even more to see how happy Hoover is now. So, thank you to these amazing people for rescuing Hoover. ❤️❤️

Thank you! We remain hopeful and optimistic despite the suffering that exists. There are many good people out there working tirelessly to help animals, and we're thankful for those who support our work to secure protections for animals. We're currently working to bring 21 lions and tigers we rescued from circuses in Guatemala to their forever homes (3 tigers will go to Big Cat Rescue, and 18 lions and tigers will go to the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary in South Africa). Any support you can give will go a long way--international rescues like this require a lot of time and resources. donate.adiusa.org/guatemala/

Rewatching this for what feels like the millionth time, but the way Hoover and many other animals in circuses are treated truly disgusts me. Thank you for helping Hoover live his last few years in peace and comfort, and the closest feeling to freedom he could get. He was my favourite tiger and the reason I found out about BCR and big cat abuse in general. Thank you for everything you’ve done and will continue to do
