Best video I have seen! Very important to keep toes pointed (optional, but you diminish fin design) and knees slightly bent (required) to avoid knee injury. Easy to forget until the damage is done. Unless you are doing a pretty photo shoot for a couple minutes to show off your body building, really no need to keep your knees locked. If you do sense pain in those areas later, adequate nutrients and reasonable exercise and a great attitude should keep you highly mobile. The occasional weather change or sleep on it wrong type of temporary feeling that is a reminder you should have bent your knees is completely avoidable. I am grateful you took the time and effort to illustrate this perfectly. If you do suspect you have any minor physical aliments, consult your doctor and graduate your adventures depth wise. In other words recreationally try 10 then 20 ft for long periods before moving deeper. Sinus and dental problems are quite amplified under pressure, something your family doctor may not be aware of. Well worth the effort to escape gravity for a little while. I limit myself to about 20 ft, and I have a blast and no discomforts (flying with ear wax is more painful).

The best detailed tutorial on youtube. In this video you use J fins. What kicking technique would you recommend with soft S fins.

Thankyou for this vid,, I searched for an explanation on correct kicking form and this is it. My concern was related to correct ankle and foot position on the down stroke.

ciao Dean, very good question, thanks! it depends.... anyone of us as slightly different positions for the ankle, someone keep feet pointing outside, someone else pointing inside... so it depends!! generally toes should point back but a little movement back/forward helps to drive the blade properly and keep them flat. please check in the second video (part2) the correct position of the ankle and let us know if you have other questions, thanks a lot. dive safe man!

I have a question sir, i have plantar fasciitis and when i tiptoe when finning it is really uncomfortable and i cant sink. Does the arches on foot affects my finning. Can i adjust my feet to normal one and not to tiptoe. Really hoping for your answer. Thank you

Well, what you should do is forst fix the plantar fascitis cause it is not something that cannot be fixed. So, go to a proper physiotherapist or a skilled massage therapust with health improving knowledge that will help you. After you get rid of it and do all the homework excercices you, start practicing stretching properly your ankles and toes to get the feet used to the finning position. Hope this helps you and work hard my friend!

hi mate! i am sponsorized by Carbonio GFT (italian brand) so i only use their fins... in this video i was wearing FORCE (medium). if you like to have top quality fins i suggest you a new model (only for freediving NOT spearfishing) called ONDA...amazing!!
