Freedivers catch Sustainable Seafood Underwater! Catch and cook
Ойын-сауық
Freedivers in this video use a single breath, to dive down and catch seafood. Freediving is a great activity to see amazing creatures and catch seafood underwater. In this video, we're going to show you how to catch and cook scallops while freediving! We'll start by catching some cuttlefish and crabs, and then we'll cook scallops up in a pan.

Nice one Joe. I saw you pass by no doubt on your way to scallops and then you hopped in as I was getting out after hassling a few lobsters. Had a great feed of lobster after I got out. It was such a lovely dive, despite the vis. No shortage of lobsters around I agree.

Hi Joe pretty new here but really enjoying your content at the minute. How long do you hold you breath for when diving to forage as it quite a fair depth. Keep up the good work I’ll keep an eye out for the notifications 👍🏻
I'm surprised about your bottom time. I have been spearfishing for about 6-7 years. Training freediving in a club once a week, and do tables 3-4 times a week on the couch. My breath hold are still around 30-45sec. And that's only when I'm really warmed up, about 20-30 dives. Question: do you do any land/dry training?
@Nunn_the_wiser
Жыл бұрын
Try doing your apnea tables while walking. It's better practicing while moving.
@discovering_scotland

I do no Training at all, dive about 10 times a year max, about 3 stone over weight and I can often do a minute, must just be something you just have
@JoePkSpearfishing
Жыл бұрын
At 45 seconds you pretty much have enough bottom time to catch pretty much anything the UK has to offer. I don't do any dry training I don't have time. But urbex is right. training your muscles to work with low oxygen is the key. Also make sure you are taking a good lungful of air before you dive. Stretching can really help with that especially if you feel stressed or aren't able to dive too often.
Nice video, looks like your back again to Galician waters due to visibility,... lol..... the only difference is the shell and crabs....

Hi thereJPK, between you and DMann ive bought an entire new set of sf kit, cost a bloody fortune! Lol keep it going, you're doing great! A question? Why is no one using pneumatic guns these days? Ive only ever used pressure guns for sf stuff....
@JoePkSpearfishing
Жыл бұрын
All be worth it for the fun beneath the waves 👌 Pneumatic guns are indeed very rarely used these days. Now rubber guns are so easy to maintain and the rubbers are so powerful I think pneumatics have had their day really. But if it works for you then all good!

What watch are you using here mate?
Hi hope you doing well mate,first time I see a 60 cm guns with twin bands😂 suggest you to buy a low volume spearfishing mask and if you wearing glasses than get also corrective lenses for your freediving mask you will immediately notice day and night difference.Safe dives Mate!

@BORIS21610
Ай бұрын
@JoePkSpearfishing yess they are bit pricey in UK and scarce omer bandit and seac x low u fit models were all low volume and wide range corrective lens diopter were available if not mistaken till the -6 or so.If you search you can find but they are really scarce and also never use lenses even very fancy end expensive ones while diving a good friend of mine really got complications due to that.
Hi Joe, love your videos and the deep that you put on. On your cressi 70 you use band of 16mm? Thanks in advance, and continue the good work. love it
@JoePkSpearfishing
Жыл бұрын
Thanks. I use twin 14mm bands which give enough power to get through big flatfish.
@franciscorodrigues4064
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the answer, hum I see, and if you use the 70 gun but a litte more mix, litte for some seabass or pollock and flatfish, do you still use the twin 14mm?
@JoePkSpearfishing
Жыл бұрын
@@franciscorodrigues4064 It's actually 60cm sorry, I wasn't clear on that. It's really too short for seabass or pollock it has a very short range indeed. It's just perfect for picking up things like cuttles, plaice and other flatties. I regularly use a 75 for bass and pollock though, and then my preferred choice is a single 16mm band.

nice but you should put the catch out of its misery instead of leaving it on the boat to die slowly, could see the cuttlefish was still alive
