I've got a 3D printer for some time. Depended on models from others for printing. But since I picked up your videos I can do the models myself. The parametric capabilities of Freecad is just a bonus. Something I very much like and exploit to the fullest. :D

Ah! This is so much easier than making a master sketch containing all my dimensions and then constantly referencing to the sketch. Using a spreadsheet makes this a breeze. Thank you for this!

I want to say thanks for explaining and sharing. I'm learning so much and these tutorials have allowed me to realize just how capable FC is for my modeling needs. Your so welcome. You have a really valid point regarding the comments, not just from me but from all contributors. They really enrich the channel. I wish KZread had an in-depth search feature that people could use. I am trying to make an index into all these videos so the index can be hosted from my website. The index is aimed to allow a visual search so you can identify the video quickly that will be useful for your application. Question and answers are something to train the index on or connect to the video some way. I need to see if I can find a quick way to tag this into the video descriptions. It’s a huge project so it’s going to take some time

Great video! Thanks for explaining these features of the Spreadsheet WB, this is an outstanding feature to be able to model dimensional modifications to an existing part. I would like to see some advanced features of the A2plus WB and the Exploded Assembly WB that you made a couple of weeks ago, this was an eye opener, and extremely simple to enact.

I thought it was enough to be starting with sketches, but now the sketches can be linked with spreadsheets. Got it. Thank you. I kick myself every time I start a new project without using a spreadsheet. So handy when time passes and I come back to previous project. Its more initial effort but often worth it.

What's driving crazy is the inflexibility of the bindings/configuration tables. Inserting or deleting columns does not update the binding (probably because of the programmatic " + propertyIndex + offset" construction of the binding targets). I've just started to separate out any configuration tables into their own spreadsheets so they remain undisturbed when I'm messing with things in my main spreadsheet. That doesn't help when I want to insert a column into an existing configuration table, though. I've gotten some practice manually creating and editing the bindings for configuration tables, so I'll call it a learning experience! I've managed to create multiple configuration bindings on a single table this way.

Excellent videos. You may be able to rack-and-pinion for horizontal or vertical movement. I didn't find much information on this. I would be grateful

REQUEST: At some point could you create a series of Tutorial Videos on the Beltrami Workbench? The only videos currently available are in French, but luckily with English Subtitles. I think it is very powerful, for creating Water Turbine Blades, or possibly Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Blades (VAWT). Thanks for considering.

Great to see your finding the tutorials useful. In regards to the lattice 2 workbench. The example was originally from a patreon request. You can do it in the part design but you will find it's a) very slow when coming to calculating the transforms and b) you can only go as low as a 2x 3 brick as the lowest amount of tubes you can have is 2 not one as it errors. Lattice 2 you can make the dimensions quite large without loss of speed. You could use part and draft array tools but I decided to kill two birds with one stone as I hadn't done a lattice2 tutorial for a while. The actual tutorial of the lego will be released soon.

This is very helpful. So much easier than plugging in bunches of values each time. I can’t find your video on where you make the brick, can you direct me to it please.

@@MangoJellySolutions Is this video on the "brick" where you explain how to create a model where the number of instances of a feature (the studs on top of the brick) is controlled by parameters (2x2, 2x3, 3x3, etc.)? In other words, is it on how to make the Lego-like block seen in this video? If so, when can we expect it? I want to learn how to use that feature or at least know what it is so I can look it up.

I'm thinking the next bump is to be able to make the odd brick like the base brick at, 2x2x2, then for shape change add eg, base, 2x2c2x1x6 creating the odd brick. The 1 indicates the height and the 6 indicates length then a. I'm still trying to work out additional shape modifiers. 😩

So glad it helps, it's a video that I wasn't sure if I should create but looks like it's been quite popular. Regarding your question freecad doesn't have a way to suppress features unfortunately. But there are ways around that to an extent. Pockets can be reversed, pads can be made so small that they vanish. Patterns can be set to 1 occurance. Until freecad implements these then we have to use what work around we can find. But suppressing features is something I really want.

@@MangoJellySolutions Since you are a nice guys and answer coments, pleae let me ask an other question about FreeCAD: In Ansys there is a Symetry option, to cut the shape into the parts and reduce the amount of processing. (planar. nodal or radial) is there similar option in FreeCAD, OpenFOAM, Elmer or calculix ? I have a cube in middle of a room, and clearly the termal relation can be divided into 4 quarters, which will be similar, I hope to find a symetry option in freecad, I no longer have ansys.

@@MangoJellySolutions Two more question, how can i change the style of spreadsheets, instead of right clocking on cells and changing their properties; im using prodark them with DarkoverLay style, but when i change the font color to white black, it remains white. i don't know where can i find the setting regarding the spread sheet. second question, what does this field do: Prefference > MainWindow > View Menu Style Sheet

Thanks for the great tutorial. Newbie question: at 12:59, why does the generated cut not sit under Part, instead, it seems at the same level of Part. I thought when a Part is created and it's active, the result of every following operation will stay in this Part, seems this is not the case

This is all well and good, but how do I assemble multiple bricks together in a separate file with the ability to select the configuration of each one? I'm trying to do this to save administrative time on A2Plus assemblies by avoiding making many, many different files for things like cabinet doors on a kitchen I'm designing.

Btw, i don't know if it is a new update or not; but to setup the config table, we don't need to set alies in te first row, or even have any number in them, although in the nest steps, we will fill them .

Hey Mango, Loving the content so far! Just a quick question. I noticed in my testing that the part cube seems to 'scale' about a corner whereas the body cube seems to 'scale' about the center. Is there a particular reason for this difference? or just a part vs body quirk? Thanks!

Also if by some random chance you happen to see this I was also wondering why in episode 17 (Print in place chain) the interaction only worked once three links were added? Shouldn't movement like that only need one static point to rotate about?

At about 25:10, what is the difference between Spreadsheet and ? In the first part of the exercise, I used Spreadsheet for the Width and for the Height and both (seemed) to work equally well.

I am pretty sure they're equivalent, but > quotes it so names with whitespace can be supported.

I have just started the second part 13:27, how did you keep the same spreadsheet? You mentioned you are starting a Parts Design workflow, so did you just delete everything other than the spreadsheet or is there a way to create a new project and in the Spreadsheet WB use the import Spreadsheet and choose the FreeCAD file I saved from the first part of this video, however this is not working for me? I will go back and open up my saved file and just delete everything except for the Spreadsheet for now... Thanks, Great video!!!

Sorry I should of explained that. I deleted everything but the spreadsheet. You can actual share spreadsheets across files using the link tool which I cover in the Mastering freecad series. I am not sure why it's failing for you. I need to run through the tutorial myself to make sure that it's not down to a big that's been introduced in the newer versions.

I jumped over to the parametricbrick part 1&2 series and this turned out awesome! I feel this lattex2 WB is what I need to use in design of a 2'x4' wall, right? I am just really impressed with your channel

@@garyweliver1870 glad your enjoying. Yes the lattice workbench is an amazing workbench and with creating the wall this would work well. You can even build a compound of bricks if you want then to alternate along the length. . I have a number of lattice 2 workbench tutorials as some of the features are pretty different from any other CAD package. There is even a tutorial for creating plant pot labels from a spreadsheet which creates a layout around each one as you add it to the spreadsheet.

Is it possible to clone a part and then make the new part use a different configuration? For example, the cube in the first part could be 2x3 and the cube in the second part could be 4x6.

I think you may be looking for the link tool on the toolbar that appears on each wb. You can link the part which will create a link copy. Then you can change the copy on change option. You have disabled, enabled, tracked and owner I believe. When I last experimented with it I think there was a bug and I couldn't figure out what was exactly happening. I have to have another look to see if I can understand it better. But you will get a copy of the part along with its own drop down.

I think a shape or sub-shape binding allows for this. The bound configuration value on the copy/binding can be set independently.

The thing is can I replace a number with a string (a name for instance)??

Yes you can as long as the text object you use allows you to replace the text with a formula. Ok thanks, I watched that video, good. You mentioned 3D printing which is what I want it for therefore I would want them extruded to certain lengths! I’ll try it tomorrow but thinking it might not work with extruded names.

Mistake: when bind B12 and C12 they are reversed but tutorial is great
