Choke plate is still getting stuck shut. When the two bolts get over tightened it squishes the gaskets and the back of the air box rubs against the choke linkage making it stick on causing the engine to chug and run rough. While it’s chugging try loosening the 2 screw just a tad, you’ll hear a “snap” and the choke flap will spring open and the engine will run great. Solution is to double up the first gasket behind the air box to get a little more clearance. Also the running fast when first started indicates a linkage is put in wrong, it’ll still work but not quite right. Auto-choke Hondas suck, I like the ones with the lever that moves when u squeeze the handle bail.

I bought a Troy Bilt in OZ as a grey import around 8 years ago and its sublime, I have never had a issue with it, still starts mostly first go, occasionally needs another pull. Its a self propelling model. TB260. I have a 1000sm block to mow. Going to give it some love this coming season, a good wash, oil change, new sparkplug and filters and should be good for another 5 years (Joking about the oil, I do that every season.) It cost me $499AUD with the Honda engine and as I was looking to buy a Honda I thought this was a great choice, half the price and still a Honda engine.

Great free finds! The PYT models are a high end yard tractor, I fixed an MTD version of that tractor for a customer and it was very nice. I wonder if they left the key switch on by accident running up the hours, or it was taken very good care of. Usually by 400 hours those are pretty worn out especially the front ends. Also great find on the push mower, easy money!

gr8 find. on Honda Engines and powermore CHonda you don't screw down the dipstick when checking level . just put it in without tighten it down. to check level. just a FYI my friend. glad you got your power back and got coffee to. I picked up 3 free mowers over 3 days. 1 each day. I got one fixed already, the other is fixed but hadn't change oil yet. One I think has broken fw key. it backfired out carb and caught on fire briefly for a few seconds. ( unfortunately I didn't catch that on video )
